Who’s still listening in 24’?
Me !!!
MMMMEEEE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
From the 70s to 2024… till beyond I’ll keep bumping this song while I smoke my joint 💯
THIS SONG IS STILL A TIMELESS JAZZ AFTER 44 YEARS.
Great!
It never gets old! And I'm 64.
Found this record at a thrift shop for $1 but to me it's priceless.
🎉RIGHT ON✊🏿😎
Old school Bob James...can’t go wrong!!!
Yeah !!
This was sampled in a late 90s Drum n Bass track by Adam F, titled "Circles". This is a wonderful piece.
I didn't consciously realise this until I read this..
ah man.. how did not notice before?? haha. thanks for pointing it out
And indeed probably the most played and recognized track from what is widely considered to be one of the best ever jungle / D'n'B albums.
What a great musical capture of a New York lady driving south on 9 along the Hudson in the Fall through Yonkers into VanCourtlandt Park and along the Harlem River Drive in the 1970s. Just perfect!
Love your descriptive narrative! Painting a picture of a song with your words. You should really consider writing or even becoming novelists .
Exactly, what a marvelous time that was.
.....And then crossing The Queensboro Bridge towards Queens.
With the Wind Combing Her Hair, Big Sunglasses and a Flowing Designer Scarfe
👍✨
A significant piece of music in my late teenage years. New to me then, exhilarating, introduction to 70s jazz. Still one of my favourites.
I remember when this first came out and I'm still having the same reaction to listening to this...... having the hair stand up on the back of my neck
2024...that's a bad man❤
Had a blind date from Harrison, NY. The prettiest, smartest, funniest Westchester Lady. RIP Rebecca Borrelli. 😔😊
They deserve a thumbs up every time his name come up
In junior high school. I was already jammin to this and a host of others
I used to collect the 8tracks.....Heads, Touchdown, 3. A jazz lover since early 70s!!!
Masterpiece
My Mom was a fan! Bob james Very close to being the most talented jazz musician in America.
String arrangements are stellar..... drummer is Killin it!
AND BOB IS HELLAFIED ON THE FENDER RHODES
I think drummer is Harvey Mason.
@@TakeStockDetroit yessssir
They all badd!!!
Harvey Mason on drums
Listening to this Bob James piece while drinking my San Miguel beer..
Total classic from Mr. James.
The Bad Bassist...........
ONE BAD DUDE
I heard this in the 7th grade. I'm 60 now and still play it. Timeless! By the one and only Bob James!
I loves bob james music...im from spain ..and i love his music...good music for hearing specially this hard times......so

Rudy Van Gelder never ever gets enough credit for his production he transcends three decades of jazz
Thank you BobJames for this TUNE ❤️
Bob James the Master
I wore this album out in the 70's...
Timeless Classic. She likes it.GOD BLESS!
Clap clap clap....the best of jazz funk of all time.
My cousin Ricky Ross loaned me this album back in the mid seventies in Liberia and it's still one of my all-time favorites. Thank you Bob James!😁❤❤❤
I had just joined the Coast Guard, and I was sitting in the mess hall when this was played on the speaker 🔊.....I wondered what in heck was I there
1976 The Bi-Centennial Year!
Bob James and Herbie Hancock were in a different league 🎹 in the 70's and then there was Joe Samples 👍🏾
The
Besutiful. I REMRMBER THIS SONG I WAS SO YOUNG COLLEGE...WOE
I bought this album at 14. I will always listen to this album
I see a nod to the increasing industrial/technological sophistication of the United States, and the world, at the time. A glimmer of fantasy, an acknowledgement of past motifs, lessons learned, but a forward looking gaze to an unknowable, but hopeful future. The Clarinet is a singular voice, the keyboard, the sidewalk, the bass, the heartbeat and thoughts of the city itself. The driving wind section is the sunlight and moon trading paths through the concrete jungle. The flutes and strings the individual and the masses flowing through and around each other like leaves on the wind.
Best capture of the emotions on this track, wow.
Man, I remember when I was a little kid that I heard music like this all over the place. At home, in the car, shopping, before the movie stated. The vibe was everywhere.
Fits right into the Fourplay repertoire, no? Could listen to Mr. James, Mr. Grusin, Mr. Lorber all night long without tiring.
When I listen to this instrumental it reminds me of the radio in the 80s, 90s, 2000 to 2010 before the news opener you always heard an instrumental and then the hour opener nice memories that will never come again.
Thunderous and at times smashingly funky.
THIS IS FUMKY REGARDLESS
Powerful, Heavy musical instrumentation!
very refreshing and light for the summer
One of his best tracks from my mum's home town NY city
Top 100 songs ever!
Absolutely right about that ! I wish I was there man , must have been so funky
Funky Bob James...Grover's on this badass track too!!!
Another gem from CTI, the label responsible for great releases from the
likes of George Benson , Hubert Laws, Freddie Hubbard, one of the
seminal 70's classics on the CTI label, some excellent Fender Rhodes
playing as usual from the keyboard supremo Bob James, using that
spacious approach in between keys
Don’t forget Gabor Szabo, “Macho” Bob produced that one.
Another great man on the Fender Rhodes was the late great Richard Tee . RIP Mr .Tee .
Have listened to James since I was 10, and just realized how much work Grover Washington did with him.😍
..and not just GWJr. CTI/Kudu in their heyday appeared to be almost a collective of brilliant musicians, all produced and arranged by the same people. Imagine Motown for jazz fusion!
Just look at the list of contributors at any of the album's throughout the 70s and 80s and you will see how well they fit together. But all with their individual style and theme.
Some the classics came during these two decades. I remember buying most of them when in London.
Hope you get a chance to sample some of the others.
@@gilesgregory3422 oh yes have definitely sampled a lot of the "others" Eric Gale being another favorite. But yes the musicians from that label were tremendous 🤑
This is REAL Music!👍👍
Who’s still thumping this in 2020
Big Bob James and Fourplay fan here.....remember it from the 70's and even today....sounds just as good, if not better. Kudos to Mr. James.....could listen to him doodling on the piano, Fender Rhodes, or electronic keyboard all night......
Real talk bro. Wentz
I'm right with you! Bob J and Fourplay forever!!
👍👌💪✌️💯
Mi dà i brividi ancora oggi!
Unique and truly incredible music.
Circles by Adam F has a nice sample of this which is a point of interest for fans of this song, if anyone didn’t know. Won’t be everyone’s cup of tea necessarily but worth finding out about.
R I P My brother, Conrad who played this and many other jazz artist. I remember hearing this and liked it. Couldn't get it out of my mind and Maputo with David Sanborn.
Perfection!
💞 🎼 keyboard 🎹 💃🏾

2022 an it's still banging! Man I wish I was partying in the 70s!
Classic!!!
The violins are awesome
All this time I never knew this was the sample used in Will Smith's Here we go again, Adam F's Circles and now Pinkpanthress "Break it Off" NOW THIS IS THE REAL CLASSIC!
whenever I hear this song I think about driving across the Tappan Zee Bridge with the top down on my little convertible late spring early summer, life was so enjoyable
Just discovered in a movie soundtrack and was dying to know who it was. Go Bob!! Awesome!!
may i ask which movie?
Masterpiece of music. This track never ages....
Great hit from the 1970's. The Rhodes electric piano is classic. Bob James was an early jazz/pop pioneer who changed jazz permanently like miles, bird and dizzy did during the 1940's and 1950s.
The first time I heard this I was in San Francisco and my girlfriend took me there for a birthday surprise at the Paramount Theater I was shocked and blow it away 1977 I'll never forget it and his friends showed up Grover Washington
This brings back memories to my introduction in jazz. Bob James has been an inspiration to me and as a piano player I always wanted to be like him. Check out his old school song/album called heads
One word....Classic!🍷
Timeless classic. Will be played for many years to come.
Yyyyyeeeeessssssssss
Still hot and a true classic! Mom played her jazz station all the time very low in the house.. I was 10 years and this cut caught me ear...old soul I am told.
Love my jazz,, the rest is history.
Hear hear. Amen to this. I am right there with you, Kaci. :)
Funky and elegant. Perfect for cruising in the big city in a classic 70s Cadillac.
1970 Mary Dee on Chicago WBEE, Third Cup program , I loved this song...great memories...
How about Danae Alexander spinning this on WNUA 95.5 FM in the once great city of Chicago.

Bob James is funky
That whole CTI lineup was a motha in the 70s , I think i brought every artist lp that came out.and even covered my groove room with the album liners.
Me: "Damn, this whole album is incredible!"
Album: Produced by Creed Taylor
