Scholar goes to his maternal uncle and auntie to meet his betrothed fiancée whom he has not met. He meets a girl at the fan shop (he first saw her by the river bank before he fell into the water from the bridge) and falls in love with her, not knowing she is his fiancée. He paints a picture of a scholar on a fan and the girl was to finish it but her father startles her and she paints his hat crooked. The couple goes to a neglected temple and the scholar notices the statue of the goddess looks just like his fiancée. She gets jealous and demands to know who is more beautiful. Stuck between a rock and hard place, he says the fiancée is more beautiful. The goddess feels that the girl is being very vain and ungrateful in that she is not satisfied to be as beautiful as the goddess, but wants to be considered more beautiful. The goddess wants to teach the girl a lesson in humility, so she causes mischief between the lovers and their fathers. She summons the scholar painted on the fan to come alive to cause more problems by pursuing the girl for her hand in marriage. Notice that his hat is crooked like in the painting. But anyways, everything works out in the end.

光聽《扇中人》這名字， 很難讓我聯想起那是改編自《聊齋誌異》原著的《阿繡》。
除了開始時劉子固跟阿繡買扇子的那一段， 後面的情節完全是編劇大哥/大姐的浮想聯翩， 但也不得不佩服他/她的神來之筆。
《阿繡》 給編寫得那麼歡快輕鬆， 相信蒲公於泉下也不能不發噱； 畢竟那是呈現他寫這故事的主題------歌頌愛情偉大！
