I just discovered your channel and am glad that I did, your videos are awesome, as are your projects. Pulling the PCB off the monitor was super clever (Wow I wish it really worked that way :D ). Also that circular pan at 6:00 in was SMOOTH! Really well done video, explanation, and project. I also love some of your wayings...the 'category why not' cracked me up, so many projects get that added :D Great job, subscribed and looking forward to enjoying your channel for the years to come!
Wow! Thanks for such a fantastic comment, Joe! I've been watching your channel for about two years. And I love it! I am very pleased that you like my video :)
Ps. I made this smooth circular pan, with a lego car ;)
@@SmartSolutionsForHome OMG a lego car!?! That's awesome!!!! Your videos need exposure, I'll do what I can. :)
I don't know what to say! This is super nice! :) You brought a ton of traffic to my channel! Thank you very very much! :)
@@SmartSolutionsForHome You deserve it! I really like your videos, can't wait to see your next video. You explain everything with a bit of funny and a lot of details! Amazing work. Congratulations.
My new favorite UA-camr. Great video. Don't give up! Can't wait to see more videos from you.
Your comment is super nice, thank you! I will not give up, I have a long list of projects in mind :)
@@SmartSolutionsForHome that's great. We are here to watch.
Great video! I have one of your garage openers connected to my 15+ year Hörmann garage doors and it works perfectly. And thanks to Home Assistant I can open and close the door using my phone or smart watch. Comes with a nice 3D printed case as well :)
Hi Oskar! Thanks for the comment. I'm glad that my Garage Opener works for you :)
Absolutely a masterpiece 🎉 I wish at some point I can make a similar one on my own. Keep it up!
That's professional job. Today found your channel and I very much liked your videos. Keep doing what u doing. Just please. Don't raise music sound when u show work.
Thanks, Sabastian. Well done ! Looking forward to your future projects.
Thanks, Steve! I'm glad you like it.
Tons of Potential this video have and hopefully others will follow soon.
Congrats for your DIY device and for sharing your knowledge with us. +1 subscriber! Cant wait to see more cool projects like this on your channel!
Awesome video, keep up the good work!
Thanks a lot!
you are a legend my man
Great video man! Really liked the video style
Good to hear. Thanks, Patrik!
Awesome project! I would love to get into making my own boards but I don't know anything about it. Would love an in depth walkthrough of you laying out the board and picking the components!
Really cool t-shirt.
Haha. Love your humor too! :)
It will be nice to integrate the „door closing“ command in the module so that the door will close when the car is in the garage. And vice-versa when the car is going out from the garage.
I think it needs more thought. It probably wouldn't be that simple. But any kind of automation is possible.
Great approach to IoT projects ! Good job! It might be a good idea to upgrade this device with another ultrasonic sensor + indicator if you car is in position to close the gate ;)
Great idea for an upgrade! :)
Super robota!
Good video. Keep it up!
Thank you very much, Alicia!
Your awesome 🤙🏻🔥
Thanks!
Super cool! Also nice editing!
I have something similar in my garage.
Thanks for the nice comment! What's in your garage? DIY device? Did you do it yourself? :)
@@SmartSolutionsForHome Yes DIY.
You can see it in my "DIY Open Source Home Automation with a Raspberry Pi" at about 02:00.
It's mostly the same functionality, but you have a nicer PCB.
The Video is a bit older, I switched from the NodeRED Dashboard to Home Assistant some time ago.
Awesome video! Very big brain stuff.
Thanks Rob! You have big brain stuff on your channel too! :)
I might be overlooking something, but I do not think you specified what you used for the spacer with the DHT22.
Great video. Will love watching more.
I want to make an home automation product, but have heard that esp is not very reliable and durable. Any comments on that?
Nice - I've been using a relay in a similar setup for some time, though not as elegant as yours. I'd considered using an ultrasonic to detect if the garage is down or up instead of car presence. Did you consider that type of usage at all? Wouldn't necessarily tell if it's fully down, but would at least show that it's not all the way up.
I think that the ultrasonic sensor isn't reliable enough to have such a crucial task. Therefore, to check if the doors are closed, I use an old - good reed sensor :) PS. Thanks for the nice article on hackster.io :)
@@SmartSolutionsForHome Makes sense. My pleasure, glad you saw it :-)
The Switching Diode on your BOM has a broken link, do you think you could provide a new one or explain what I should look for. Thank you!
Wow! , where did you learn how to design pcb boards?
Thanks, I design PCBs at work on a daily basis. Besides, I like doing it, so I try to do it better every time :)
Super
Thanks!
Very nice
Thanks, I appreciate it :)
This video is beautiful!!!! I wish to see more, especially timelapses and creative transitions. Music in this video is boring, you can put your talking instead of it.
Thanks, Paweł! Me talking instead of music would be more boring for sure ;)
Hello,
Very nice video!!
Can you give a link of the exact model of relay you use ?
OK, I've found it in a polish webshop, guess I have to find something else to order, 0.69€ is a bit small to order just that :-)
I used this model: LUZ-5 RECOY/RAYEX ELECTRONICS
Do you plan to release a component list for this build?
Yes, give me a few days.
@@SmartSolutionsForHome Define "a few days" ;)
Хорошо
Really nice , will it be possible to buy one ?
i have found the link - smartsolutions4home.com/shop/
Hi, whats the value of R3? BOM and schematic both show n/a
I don't know what it's used for and i dont know what resistor to use.
U can use 12k
Never been to New York ;-)
That's right, unfortunately, I've never been to new york yet. But I'm going to go there someday! :)
Please can you make a Udemy course where u cover all the steps in depth especially the coding part! I wanna learn in-depth every single step you do in you IoT projects
I know this video is old but the project description link is connecting to different project not the garage opener
Thanks!
Hi! What software do you use to design the PCB, thanks !
I use Autodesk Fusion 360 for electronics and mechanics.
Mistrz :O
Dzięki! :)
Do you sell this fully assembled?
Unfortunately, only PCBs for now.
which 3d-printer are you using?
The printer is also designed by me (and two of my friends). Nothing commercial.
@@SmartSolutionsForHome Wow wish I knew as much as you do about electronics design. :)
Była by szansa kupić gotowe? :>
Póki co nie, ale za jakiś czas zamierzam przygotować kilka kompletów.
I need the parts list that so I need to make one
I just did the BOM for this project. Check the link where the rest of the files are.
@@SmartSolutionsForHome thanks
Where can i get the pcb only?
You will find information on my website (smartsolutions4home.com/ss4h-go-smart-garage-door-opener). Of course, you can only download PCB if you want :)
What song is played at the end?
It is Mural Legends by Adriel Fair
uff, not BMW, good :).
Highly reject this project, the sonic sensors are not reliable enough to trust to a garage door. Switch to a ToF sensor for "obstruction", or limit switch for closed/open status
The sonic sensor is just for car detection. The Reed sensors are used to detect whether the door is open or closed and the existing garage door sensors will handle obstructions, force limits etc.
