you should do a series teaching how to use the radio features like uhf, vhf, airband, single side band, long wave, short wave... differences, what are they, how to use them, when to use them... for us we only know about am and fm
Thanks for all the time and effort you put into these videos. Recently found your channel and enjoying a few new toys thanks to your product overviews! Keep up the awesome work! Ironman!
Hi! I understand that selecting between internal and external loop works via the front keyboard knob underneath the display, so I'm wondering what is the ANT ON/OFF switch next to the EXT LOOP ANT socket good for? Thx!
Just talking about the new external MW loopstick. Shortwave versions have yet to be released. The SSB in the title helps identify the radio so the video can be found by viewers.
He tested his toward dusk/evening. A daytime test is ideal. I noticed it had slightly less noise versus the internal, which was indeed stronger than the external, but with an increase in internally generated RFI. Even less noise on the external stick using the Terk to remove the RFI.
Hi todderbert (me longtime subscriber). My Sangean 909 has stopped working after many years of faithful service (we suffered through a bad electrical storm). Knowing the quality level of Sangean radios, is this a worthy replacement for a 909? The Raddy has many features, but is it a good performer on SW?
Not as good as a 909X , i'm not a fan of the X2 on SSB. The RF919 may get a performance upgrade on soft muting. If it becomes a no mute while tuning device, then the RF919 would be hard not to recommend to even a die hard SSB fan.
I would have bought the Raddy RF919 if I only could get past its cyberpunk, industrial/military equipment looks. It reminds me of a sophisticated communications device from some science fiction movie. That wide backlit green LCD panel is conveys so much information and the secondary color LCD screen looks like a signal tracking monitor. All-around backlit push buttons? Awesome. This Raddy would have been at home aboard the fictional deep space mining ship _Nostromo_ in the classic 1979 sci-fi horror movie _Alien_ 😀 They just had to ruin the RF919's looks by putting a speaker grille from of some grotesque looking, early 1980s boombox. 📻😑
Yes, it is bad on MW. The other bands don't suffer from this. Possibly LW, but I can't test that here in the Midwest. I'm getting a different unit, from a different company, and we will see if it has the same issue.
@@todderbert If you're getting the HanRongDa C919, it's also noisy on MW, I have one and I didn't get the free antenna with mine. They're available to purchase for £12.🙄

I may in the future. I'm currently swamped with radios to review first :)

Thanks, I crank out the videos :) Appreciate the comment.
So, are you reviewing the radio or the Terk antenna???
Hi! I understand that selecting between internal and external loop works via the front keyboard knob underneath the display, so I'm wondering what is the ANT ON/OFF switch next to the EXT LOOP ANT socket good for? Thx!
It is a physical switch to disable the top loop, it actually helps to turn it off when using the internal loopstick, which is better on MW.
Hej thanks for the video and interesting external loopstick demo with the Raddy RR-919 take care Todderbert and have a nice evening.
Whats your favorite of this unit or the Retekess TR-113? Which antenna suits these type radios best? Thanks, sir Todderbert.

Where there SSB performance review there, if you meaning SSB?

What about a hand carry strap for the top? Like the old Sony and Panasonic radios of the 1970's of similar military like design?
It comes with one, I just don't have mine installed yet.
Does the ap control work with iPhones?
yes
It's interesting, OM0ET's review found the internal antenna worked better than the stick. It sounds as if you found it a bit better. Unit variation?

Wait till you hear it with a C.Crane Twin Coil attached, oh boy is it something special :)

May I ask what Loopstick is? Your friend, Jeff.
Google “Loopstick antenna”
i came here hoping for a lipstick demo!
This is the same radio as the HanRongDa c919.
Everything but the name. 👍
Now with lipstick?

I love the old school military Radio look the c919 has
Me too.
That is a bucket load of İnternal noise. The radio needs a serious re work before I'd consider buying one.

Hello well i have to say im really diappionted in the stick not much of an improve. But thanks. RON Z. WA3090SWL.
It's biggest advantage is that you do not have to move the radio which I consider a substantial adv.
