They have a huge scope in future as these industries have just begun to grow. India has just set up a lab in IISc Bangalore to manufacture GaN chips. This industry is in its nascent stage and India can emerge as a leader in this field if it works on it seriously.

Amd is too powerful too compete for arm and intel. Amd has made significant changes in their architecture and they have made a 64 core and 128 threads processor which can make editing and rendering smooth like a peice of cake.
Yeah but such processors are really power hungry and on top of that for most people their entire PC experience these days is restricted to web apps and light gaming. 64 core processors at the price point and power efficiency that AMD offers is great but an overkill for most people. Most people will not even be able to utilize an eight core modern processor to its fullest potential, I think something like M1 chip for a desktop PC will be more than sufficient for most people. So undeniably AMD is soon going to start facing competition from ARM based processors as well.
@@yuvrajkumar2048 Power matters a lot, at least to a certain section of people. AMD's 64 core processors will easily eat up 200-280 watts of power. You know these days ceiling fans use about 50-60 watts, so running a 280 watts cpu is indeed power intensive, now I know that the power usage depends on cpu load but even when idle a higher core processor could still be taking up 3 times the power. This higher power usage is not just reflected in electricity bills but also environmental impact. More people are becoming conscious of there are carbon foot print every passing day, so I think its still a relevant factor.
Yeah, as Mr powertrain said, desktop is also up for disruption but I really feel ge should have said laptop, desktop is going to run x86 for atleast a decade.

The professor over there said us that for doing semiconductor manufacturing is very difficult for us as silicon wayfers are not available in india and only two places are there in india where fabrication is done.
I understand the patriotism in the sentence "why can't India make processors" but when it comes to technology it does not matter where it's developed and who develops. When a new technology is developed it benefits the whole world and that is the basis of the modern world. For all mission-critical systems, India still develops its own custom computer components including processors but general-purpose processors are not really cost-effective and efficient if started from scratch. Just like operating systems early players have an advantage in processors.
I'm definitely against Intel and AMD setting their plants in India. In fact, we don't need to set up any plant at all. Taiwan is already specialised in that. For processor, there's already an open project called RISC-V and Linux community can be helpful for compiling softwares for the processors.

You forgot that ARM is brought by nvdia. And ARM will never able to beat Intel, amd. China is trying to copy that for quite a while but still unable make it so saying that we can make powerful 7nm processor but software developer will not be interested is totally wrong. Most of these semiconductor designer companies are from taiwan usa and british.
Arm is british company.
China only manufactur some small cost soc using arm desgin.
And manufacturer for other companies.
This proves that even china don't have own desgin or big soc company.
Its better we also come in market using risc-v and arm desgin and try to manufactur using good and latest technologies like 3nm and 5nm.
Its very hard to work from scratch but we can start by using open source desgin and arm desgin.

हमारे देश में technology को serious नही लिया जाता है
Even tho ,India has top IT companies like TCS, Infosys, Wipro, but they aren't investing in Artificial intelligence, Quantum computing etc. look at IBM !. If any of Indian company could break the quantum tech, then the future is in India's hand
Even after it... India has to take step by step
IBM is shit, they thought they can save themselves by focusing on radically futuristic tech, but so far it seems to be backfiring. I read a report last year regarding their cutdowns in these research areas, don't remember exact details tho. Anyway, we should focus on futuristic tech, that I agree
India has first to expertise in field of supercomputer, India can make supercomputer but not completely indegeneous, also CDAC is doing research in quantum computing but it's behind US and China by a decent margin
@@santoshrajput8231 Bro supercomputer is entirely diff from quantum computing or semiconductors. It's like comparing and automobile with engine / Core . Semiconductor and in future quantum based will be core of every computers including supercomputers. And , India can make supercomputer indigenously just not that powerful compared to others because of lack of fund to go for R&D ! . Also that's not a breakthrough tech that someone hasn't done before. India's focuse should surely be on semiconductor and Quantum computing right now the only one who is right path of QC is TIFR, But govt is plannin to build a 50cubic QC in next 5 yrs this year's budget alloted of 1B USD is great move. Atleatd it shows India's isn't sitting ducks in adopting latest innovations and tech like we used to do before. But it isn't enough, In China govt is the biggest Investor, in US private companies are the ones . But in India , both are doin but not Upton Mark, Private IT giants like TCS, Infosys, Wipro should make the move. Rather than being a service giant only
@@sujith3914 Bro IBM is leading the quantum supremacy race, they may have taken back in services and IT. But when it comes to these disruptive tech revolution ,making way for industry 4.0 IBM is surely on the driver spot .
@@randomrandom316
Power doesn't matter because Computers doesn't run on battery.
Computer needs a Stable Power Supply
@@yuvrajkumar2048 Power matters a lot, at least to a certain section of people. AMD's 64 core processors will easily eat up 200-280 watts of power. You know these days ceiling fans use about 50-60 watts, so running a 280 watts cpu is indeed power intensive, now I know that the power usage depends on cpu load but even when idle a higher core processor could still be taking up 3 times the power.
This higher power usage is not just reflected in electricity bills but also environmental impact. More people are becoming conscious of there are carbon foot print every passing day, so I think its still a relevant factor.
Here we are talking about Indian Based not US based.
Yeah, as Mr powertrain said, desktop is also up for disruption but I really feel ge should have said laptop, desktop is going to run x86 for atleast a decade.

Bahut achi jankari dihe apne Bhaisab. Bilkul Naya topic he
I understand the patriotism in the sentence "why can't India make processors" but when it comes to technology it does not matter where it's developed and who develops.
When a new technology is developed it benefits the whole world and that is the basis of the modern world.
For all mission-critical systems, India still develops its own custom computer components including processors but general-purpose processors are not really cost-effective and efficient if started from scratch.
Just like operating systems early players have an advantage in processors.
I will go for the first option

I'm definitely against Intel and AMD setting their plants in India. In fact, we don't need to set up any plant at all. Taiwan is already specialised in that. For processor, there's already an open project called RISC-V and Linux community can be helpful for compiling softwares for the processors.
