  • An engineer looking to learn a new language or framework can find ample resources to help them on their journey, and can often easily apply that knowledge in their day-to-day work. But as engineers look to move to senior and lead roles, they must develop the skills to act as multipliers within their teams: they need to be strong communicators who can share context both verbally and in writing. They need to solve ambiguous problems, and they need to be able to help and support other engineers who are earlier in their careers.
While there are plenty of books and talks that explain these leadership principles, it’s less-obvious how to practice them in a real-life setting. In my time as an engineering leader, I’ve developed some processes that help engineers flex these muscles. In this talk, I’ll share some general guidance that engineers and engineering leaders alike can bring back to help their team members.
