UA-cam is a tough one. I’ve been going for about 7 months and am only about 65% of the way to monetisation. I temporarily overcame my anxiety and did Postmates for about 5 months in 2020 (right before Postmates was bought out), and managed to earn an average of $55 per hour, by playing the system (San Bernardino County). Whether or not Etsy works depends on the product. I've done some cross stitching for myself- each one takes months and would only sell for a few dollars on a platform like Etsy. So not very profitable relative to time spent, but still fun.
I'd love to see you take a stab at flipping goods sometime, like furniture or electronics. Garage sales, estate sales, facebook marketplace are all the places I'd start.
Ohhh dude, last time I watched a video of yours was last year when you we'e talking about Fiverr! Awesome to see you're still making awesome videos. I loved the concept of this video. Using the trendy tier list format and applying it to stuff you've actually tested. Fun! I agree with your list and takes. UA-cam is the most satisfying for me, and I'm pretty decent at it (50k+ subs right now). It also helps that I'm a freelance video editor so editing/creativity come natural to me. Right now I'm trying out daily streaming + a live show every week. It's so fun! But does it pay? Not yet. I hit Twitch affiliate within a week of starting there and so far I've made $10, lol. Thanks for another great video! Quick question please. I'm trying to switch to 4K video on my channel and every editing software I've tried so far is super slow with 4K video. What 4K video editing software do you use or recommend that is fast? If you prefer to reply via email, it is in my about section on my channel. Thank you for any help with this!

I feel like you're definitely overvaluing UA-cam and Etsy. UA-cam is really hard and competitive, expect on average 2 years of putting out videos weekly before you get a decent kind of following. In this vid you say 230k channels have over 100k followers but out of 23M UA-cam channels that's only 1% that makes it. And Etsy can be compared to dropshipping, only you're putting in a lot more effort since you actually have to produce the products you're selling and it's not scalable too the moon, since each product you sell has to be produced. There are some exceptions to this: if you're selling digital items or if you're doing print on demand you only have to design the items and can sell them a lot of times without much extra effort but these are some very competitive niches (and Etsy in general is already competitive). I've an Etsy shop with 50 sales in 8 months (so this is a bit of bonus income but far from enough to substitute even a part time income) and according to Erank I've sold more items then 70% of Etsy shops. This means only very few Etsy shops are successful. I've 3 other Etsy shops because I wanted to replicate my Etsy shop with 50 sales, and none of these 3 are even profitable.
well, think of all of the youtube channels created just from viewers - not creators. then think of all of the channels that are low effort / low video count / generally poor quality. so i care less about the 1% of that number because out of people that really try, it’d be a bit higher. and since yt is a massive search engine, organic growth here is more attainable. re: etsy, yes i could be wrong here since i have very little experience, but i’m thinking low startup cost + ability to make a couple hundred bucks a month makes a good side hustle. etsy could be too competitive for that, idk.
@@DanielInskeep Ok. The number I used for the amount of UA-cam channels are channels that have 100+ subscribers, that way I don't take into account low effort UA-cam channels.

@@DanielInskeep What Etsy shop do you have? I'm curious.
@@financialchimes4546 gotcha. i don't want to mention the etsy shop on here as it would skew any results i get. i'm looking to do it without promoting it on my existing social channels.
@@DanielInskeep Ok, I'll just wait on the video :D.
