I really like the different feeling between the MD channel and yours. The MD videos are like a tv series to me, funny and a faster tempo. Yours are relaxing and a great way to de-stress at the end of the day. So great that you guys managed to keep your own identity's even after joining together. It's the best of both worlds. Can't wait for the 2024 video's 🎉

I honestly like your style of videos MUCH better, though his channel has a nice fun vibe of its own. And i hope that you keep with this yearly "sit down in reflection" style again. Even if its a 5 hour video, I and many others will love watching it
Totally agree used to watch MD. but i find him a bit fake , and the api products aren’t as good as he makes out defo runs co2 to make up for it. Matt is so much more honest in his delivery, feels he’s doing it just like we are. I know he might get perks from the job he’s in but FairPlay to him. MD has just gone full reality TV not for me.
I just want to clarify that i like both channels and i appreciate that they both bring their own style. It was not my intent to say negative things about MD's channel. But everyone has his own opinions and i hope Matt is happy with all the positive feedback on his video's 😉
@@gregsmith7319 i disagree a little ... api works wonders in all my 6 tanks; No CO2. It usually depends on the water quality in your area on chemicals will work best. In a past location i lived at it didnt help at all. What minerals coming out of the tap water makes a big difference.
So happy my wandering ended up at a video of you installing a new pond in your yard. Very inspiring! And now that I see you have Dalmatian's I had to subscribe! I have 3 spotted babies myself. 😊

Matt I feel your Dalmatian pain! I thought Google was blagging when researching them prior to buying one and it saying they malt constantly. How bad could it be I thought 🙄😅
Oh yeah they only shed twice a year January to June then July to December hahahaha
I love all the videos, there is so much information that has helped me get back into my tank life. I had forgotten how addictive it was, lol, but my daughter and I love it (I said we will start with one, fast forward 6 months and we have 9) . I am excited about setting up a waterfall tank, think I will put it in a 20 gallon, your video made me believe I could give it a go. Thank you for all of 2023 can't wait to see what is in store in 2024.

Hi Matt, I'm on holiday in madeira, and came across your channel. Please make more videos, I’ve subscribed and binged all your uploads and I must admit they have given me inspiration to re connect with the hobby. Its very frustrating as I’ve been away from the beginning of December and I don’t return to the UK till the end of January.
I have a jewel trigon 350 that has been sat empty for a few years and I want to try and scape it may try to video it.
Your doing a great job keep it up.
I can’t really tell you which tanks were my favorite. I guess they all were. Each one had something that I really loved about it. Even though I’ve only been watching for less than a year, I’ve seen some real growth in your confidence and ur artistry. Happy New Year to you and your family. I loved the style of this "year in review" video. The sit-down commentary was definitely the way to go. Between yours and MD's id say that yours came out on top by a landslide this year (even though you had less tanks to show) it made me long for more. Plus, though you keep the camera on auto.. your editing and directing is getting better every video. Keep up the great work. Hope to see much more next year

Lovely scapes. I noticed that your choice of fish are nice but plain colours.
Personally I like more colours fish . Will be interesting to see what you do in 2024.

Speaking of which , that jacket needs to be worn again , but it might be a little tight 😁 lol !!!! Back on the bike and the jacket will be as good as new √

It's been a great journey watching the start of the two of you , like the intro today , I forget what Mark said but the guy is going strong for sure and hiring you has been the best , and Best just got better week after week ( when your not sick 🥶 ) All the interactions with all those Cardinals , Betas and of course Timmy too. the beginning , never missed a show..... Honestly I have always been very happy to watch everything more than once. Now that you have been working with MD there is only one request and I didn't come up with it , but I had the same concept. So without a picture I have to find out if that's possible for me to do ? Sorry I don't have to ask if you know who Tom Barr is but I am hopeful that you have never seen the amazing installation he did for AMAZON in the Corporate offices called the Amazon Spheres ? If you have or not the best I can do is to checkout TANK TESTED here on UA-cam. Again you are probably aware of the creator of the ch. Alex 17 ft. aquarium with massive living wall - EPIC AQUASCAPE August 3rd 2021 ! Has to be a little something to consider, you have the vertical space for day's end when MD is mentioned the 10 ft. Immediately I was thinking of you coming up with the idea to do it but obviously a scaled down version 🫤 Either way it is easily the best video I've seen with the owner of Aquarium Zen Steve who has a lot of interesting info about the @

Hi Matt l love your betta tank it is so beautiful! l have 2 bettas l could use all the tips and advice l can get. Right now l don't have live plants for my bettas and l am considering buying some plants. As a beginner

The chili rasbora tank with the large pebbles was one of my favorite scapes you've done, I just love how the wood look like branches hanging over the pebbles, so its funny that it's disliked by others

My dog, Annie, has very similar fur. Her hair somehow makes it right into the water column in my tanks… 😅
Hahahaha I sometimes come to use a net or a pair of tweezers and a cloud of fur swirls off into the aquarium

I really like the waterfall bowl but I don’t know why people wouldn’t like the tank that had the roots coming down from the centre it looked so cool.
For me I would love to have a tank with plants growing out the top but my tank has a great big wooden lid on it.

So I’m very new to this channel but has followed MD for a while and love your guys banter.
I always have one of you guys videos on when trying to sleep. You are always positive and very pleasant to listen too about all the facts about everything from hardscape, fishes, plants or just life things.
The day I have a bigger apartment, a low tech fish tank is very high on my wishlist. And you Matt is a big part of that, because you give me safety in trusting the information you provide and that it can be wonderfully personality because fishes are not behaving all the same and how they interact.

It's the same having a Chihuahua 😂 he's tiny but the amount of hair is ridiculous. @@FishShopMatt I will do, I'm super excited. I'm using dragon stone, dragon wood for the waterfall I used a little water pump and made a little filter using a tiny bottle, some foam/sponge & crushed bio media from a mature filter in my community aquarium. I'm stuck between black or natural sand over a little fluval stratum. Obviously lots of plants anubias nana, buce and I'm going to give crypts a try for the first time ever because they scare me I usually stay away from them. Lots of moss which I love. Honestly soon as I seen your video ,before it even finished I was online looking for a similar bowl. You make everything look so easy and you explain it in a way that makes sense. Your channel is in my top 5 faves

I think my favorite tank you scaped this year was the big cube with the volcano-esque hardscape. Its a shame some of those plants didnt survive while you were on holiday bc the whites and reds were gorgeous!! But it happens! Happy New Year!

For new projects what about keeping some sort of killifish? My favourite is the Fundulopanchax gardneri, i feel that those fishes are so underrated, i've never seen one irl, or what about another rare nanofish? Like the Danio erythromicron or the margaritatus

I still think your shrimp bowl with waterfall is brilliant! I'm going to try something like this myself in a Dennerle scaper 35 L, the one with the panorama view. Been looking for a bowl, but found nothing I liked.

My dad was given a Dalmatian when his previous dog died, and I can confirm what you say about living with Dalmatian’s. 😂🤣
Has become one of my favourite fish channels and will look forward to where you will take it. Love the calm and in great depth this channel goes but explained in a way all can understand and follow.
Just wondering if your content is always going to be separate or if you’ll ever use the studio with MD to have a tank there for your channel as I feel you have slightly more accessibility to bigger projects there.
Also recommend using the Md connection to grow your channel. The trips you both go on together, the events. Anything slightly different would also be great for you to upload and record rather than just MD
Thank you so so much! I have plans to do some different bits and pieces, the garage conversion will allow for larger projects and also some stuff in the studio.
I find it weird in the studio, MD wants me to film down there. But it sometimes feels like you're wearing someone else's shoes. It's hard to describe.
@@FishShopMatt 100% get that it feels like although your now doing it all together it was his project to start with and its nice to have your own something going on. Either way i look forward to where this channel is going - like i said the scapes are great but the information and care in what you give out to the viewers is second to none in this industry.
I always thought a UK/European river/Lake tank would be cool. Coolntonsee Roach and Sterlets mixing maybe with some carp or tench. Would all depend on tank size.

Can you do a video of your mk1 golf. Is it a dooer upper or have you already done it up?
Once the garage starts being transformed it will definitely get some screen time. It's a bit of a dooer upper, as it's been sat for a few years now. But was decent around 4 years ago as it was our wedding car so had to look presentable
