      I feel you on this. From the gender reveal to baby showers, I don’t know why ppl overdo it and I’m sure not everyone can afford 500$ in balloon decor alone. I’m one of those. I’d rather spend those on the baby.

    I’m a first time mom due in October and I have been so overwhelmed looking at all the different videos of essentials and nursery tours and feeling like I’m not as good of a mom if I don’t have all that other expensive stuff. But this helped me so much with perspective, my baby just wants to be loved and cared for. He won’t notice if he has all this other crap 🥺❤️

      Kelly Kawaguchi congratulations I’m a first time mum as well I’m due in dec. I been doing a lot of research on the absolute necessary‘s and I’ve also found out there’s a lot of them that you could just use as a DIY that’s super cheap and you’re getting the same kind of results I’m not gonna lie. Lol. Plus with Covid in people are at work never really know so it’s a very smart idea I think desert looking around on what is absolutely necessary what’s not necessary you don’t always have to have the big bucks items. I found a lot of my big items on Facebook marketplace for dirt dirt cheap

    I LOVE the message at the end of the video! It’s very easy for our brain to switch to a negative place and start thinking that we don’t have this and that, instead of realizing ALL the good things we have! Like such a underrated and not so appreciated thing as ...a roof over our heads and food on the table!🙌🏼 May God bless you all!

    A lot of good advice here especially with getting certain baby stuff used and being more minimalist, but the dock-a-tot and snuggle me pillows are NOT made for sleeping. They are a SIDS/suffocation risk! They are even banned in certain countries like Canada.

      @@keanuk6171 If baby turns (and cant roll themselves back over) and face ends up on the side, its a suffocation risk. Could you imagine trying to sleep/breathe for more than 30 seconds with your face smashed into a pillow? And with less developed lungs? Yes, we don't know much about the why behind SIDS, but this clearly poses a risk. Same reason you don't have blankets or stuffed animals where baby sleeps until they're able to roll over/move/push something out of the way consistently. And just because kids have been fine when using products, it doesn't mean they're actually safe. You can drive around in a vehicle never wearing a seatbelt and still be perfectly happy and healthy, but in the instant you find yourself in a predicament, you realize its an unsafe practice because of what CAN happen. "Know better, do better." Just because parents used to have their kids in cars without carseats, seat belts, in the front seat with airbags, etc. does NOT mean we should continue to do it. We know better now. If something doesn't happen even though its a possibility and it 'proves your point', that is called confirmation bias.

    Gosh! This is the most perfect realistic video!!! Currently expecting my 4th and last yr I just so happened to purge all my remaining baby gear. All. Of. It. 😫 So I'm starting from scratch. Been 6yrs since my last and I almost forgot which things were the most important. Thank you so so much!!! 🙏🏽❤️ So excited and feeling less overwhelmed!!!

      I'm currently 12 weeks pregnant with my rainbow baby (baby #3, after #2 ended in an 8 week miscarriage), and my first "baby" is now almost 16! I purged most of my baby stuff about 8 years ago, as I thought I was done having kids. Then, I lost the rest of what I'd saved in a messy divorce 5.5 years ago, so I'm literally starting ALL over again with this baby (I remarried almost 3 years ago)! This baby was a total surprise, so I'm still kind of in shock, but we are so happy and excited! I know your comment is a year old, but best of luck to you!

    We definitely get summer babies. This is our fourth baby and first boy! We invested in the forever car seats and I have a boba wrap. We use swaddle blankets as receiving blankets or buro cloths. We just didn't want extra stuff. I tried to keep it as minimal as possible. I did go with disposable diapers because of my hands (I have a disease where my hands don't always work due to inflammation). Congrats on the baby!

    I so agree with you about Baby Magic as the best smelling lotion! I used only Baby Magic on my kids as babies. They are now 22 and 20 years old. One other thing I always recommend to moms is Balmex with zinc bum cream. It is the only diaper rash cream I used after I found none of the others worked well. You're a great preparer!

    From a concerned Mom, I wouldn't buy a carseat used. The one reason is, if it has been in an auto accident it's considered damaged by NHTSA. Not eveyone will be honest about everything. I know about the NHTSA laws because my husband and I were rear ended by someone doing 40mph. We had to replace my daughter's booster seat because of this. The other guy's insurance paid for the replacement.

      From what I've heard, the recommendation if you go used is to buy from someone you know so you know where it's been

    • @elliemyers7389
      @elliemyers7389 4 роки тому +6

      Most insurance companies make you send pictures of the old carseat with the stickers peeled off and straps cut. This greatly helps limit the amount of carseats that are sold after an accident.

    • @marciawilliams2637
      @marciawilliams2637 4 роки тому +2

      @@elliemyers7389 mine didn't. It was the other guys insurance paid for it. It was towed off in the car when it was totalled.

    This is actually the best newborn essentials video i've seen! I didn't think I needed all that other stuff. I've been freaking out as most of my family live in another country so its been kind of tricky - my friends all have soooo much stuff for their kids and i'm always thinking its not really all that necessary.

    I just found your videos and I have been trying to prep for my first, and also don't have a nursery. I have been watching nursery organizing to at least give me some ideas about what is truly essential. I try to tell people I want to so this budget friendly, and they act like I am from Mars and go babies aren't budget friendly...I am glad someone else gets it. ❤ definitely in the cleaning nesting phase at 7 months. Finally discovered the gift of sweeper dry/wet mop. I am sold.😅

    I enjoy your video and love how simple you made everything. I also agree on buying things used. I got must of my stuff used and the others was gifted by my cousins from their babies. Some things I got It knew cause I had to move and were I am there is no thrift store around but I tried to get the cheapest and useful ones. Im first time mom with due date in October and trying to make things ease and simple. Thanks for sharing this videos it is so helpful.

      This is definitely a rant but lord her age has nothing to do with the post, ironically it’s the one thing some people probably choose to pay attention too from her comment🤣Being a young mother/parents now days is nearly the norm and doesn’t have to define you. For some it’s a ‘mistake’ and for other it’s an intentional choice either way it’s okay. My husband and I (my high school sweet heart) got pregnant with our 1st daughter during the middle of our senior year. We still graduated and both managed to have full time jobs. Shortly after our daughter was born we got married, moved away from most of our family for a better job opportunity, and built a 1bed 1 bath studio by hand attached to a family members house. Less then two years later we found out we were expecting our 2nd we then purchased and paid off our first real home(not the best place or area but atleat it was a real home) all before the age 21. Now another 2 years later we are expecting our 3rd, in the process of purchasing a brand new home and land, we own both of our cars, and have 0 debt. We both have 6 figure careers, and own an upcoming dream business. We did it all without help and we are ironically the most successful from both of our families. All of these accomplishments before the age of 24. I’d admit not everyone is as lucky or choose to make the right decisions for their families, but not every teen parent is a disappointment. It certainly time people start to recognize being a real parent has no defining age as long as your take care of what you created! Some are fortunate enough to produce a lavish life for their family others have may have no choice other then the economic route, either way it’s okay, because atleat they are taking care of theirs! Many late 20s, 30s, 40s, 50s ect can’t provide a stable household and yet they don’t receive as much shit as a teen/young parent.

    Thank you for this video! I am due in 10 weeks with my first baby and feeling a bit overwhelmed with what I was thinking I needed. Also a little breastfeeding advice is needed, no classes or anything is being offered due to this whole world conundrum going on so this was great a out my nesting at ease a bit!

    Oh my goodness! Thank you for this video. I'm 10 wks pregnant today with my 1st child (my husband's 3rd) & I had barely ANY idea what I was going to need. I like the idea of the pack-N-play, it's more versatile. As of now we don't have a nursery & we're going to have to move. We currently live in a 1bdrm senior apartment, & I don't think we'll be able to stay after baby is born. Thank you again for sharing! Blessings to you and your family!!! 💜💜💜🙏

    love a real home. My room i use a hanging shelf for baby stuff and my bottom drawer becomes baby's. Then a caddy similar to yours for goodies that aren't bedding or clothes. Gotta do what works! I have bigger kids in other rooms and baby rooms w us for about 10m sometimes more.
