  • The Q5+ has all the high-end features at a not-unreasonable $700 price point, with LiDAR mapping and navigation, a smart app, and even a self-emptying dock. It's powerful and gets the job done. But if you're a new robovac owner, you should know there's still a bit of maintenance to clean the roller every so often.

The filter on the bin actually pops off with relative ease. There's a little arrow on one side of the plastic frame. It's a little stiff the first time, but just grab there and pop it off and you have an entire side of the bin gone for easy manual dumping. I bought mine without the dock so I was relieved to find out this was possible.

There is a reason why the Lidar dome on the top of the robot presses like a button. If the robot goes under something and the Lidar dome is pressed, it knows that it could get stuck under there and will therefore move away from that area, that's how that feature works.

With a simple reading of the short manual, you will learn that the button-like click experienced when pressing down on the lidar scanner, is actually a vertical height bumper/sensor. if the robot tries to go underneath anything with sloped or variable clearance that comes into contact with the top of the lidar scanner, the robot will turn around, just like it does with the front bumper.

It would be wise, as your floor is mostly hard wood, to upgrade the main roller to the newer model. It only cost about 25 USD, but it will help you get less hair tangle in the roller. It would be a less hands on operation. Give it a try.

Can't you pull the filter off the internal dust bin and empty from there?

Roborock helps me a lot in my daily life, the products are working quite well. I think Q5+ is much more likely to be an upgrade from the previous models, but it would be worth its value for the upgraded suction power and suction dock.

Thanks for great reviewing! I'm a big fan of Roborock and have some robots from them! They are working awesome! Q5 seems a super cost-effective product with the functions of self-emptying function. I'm thinking to upgrade my old one for Q5!

As a owner of multiple roborock robots, I would say the model Q5+ sounds like a very good entry level robotic vacuum! Also the auto empty dock is really a plus compared with other robots.

Have you found your other roborocks to be reliable? How old are they? Roborock has a non existant warranty past 30 days so I was wondering if they hold up for 3 or 4 years.

Roborock's products are really worth buying! The Q5+ is about the same price as my S7, but it can collect the dust automatically. Although it does not have the mopping function, it is also very suitable for families with washing machines. Moreover, the Q5+ is an upgraded iteration of the roborock S4 Max. The reputation of the S4 Max has always been very good. I have read many reviews and watched some videos about it, the reviewers are full of praise for it. On the Q5+, Roborock has also added new features such as 3D map, Routines and so on. Llooking forward to more videos about this product.

The Q5, is an upgrade for those who love their S4 Max. I do not want automatic dustbin cleaning. If the Q5 dust bin cleaning is cumbersome, it will be going back and I will get another S4 Max. I have a Q5 on order and if the dust and cleaning does not outweigh the advantages of The new Q5, you’ll hear about it. Thank you Zack for a great review. When you get a chance, could you point out a robot vacuum that “does” well with long hair?

@@rentedduckliing I would get the Q5 for the initial mapping, routines, and suction power. It’s $300 on Amazon. Such a great deal.

It is much cheaper than my s7+, but the features is as the same. I'm a little regret now. But it's mop performance is not as good as s7 vibrate system.
