"I found this chipper at a bootsale for £3." As George Bernard Shaw said: "England and America are two countries separated by a common language". By gad, I do love the British! Excellent job....best wishes and good health old mole.
I have watched several of these being restored - yours is by far the best looking and operational. Hopefully see more of your works in the future. From Colorado, USA.
really well done .. top-notch job .. took your time and did it right .. even going as far as nickel plating the spring and seasoning the cast iron base
@@mytinyworkshop1213 I have used many like it in my youth when I would work in various kitchens these things needed to be sharp but also durable .. you addressed both of those issues
As a French fry lover, I knew I would really enjoy this restoration. And I did! This is an excellent restoration, and your written comments are also very useful. This chipper must have been intended for restaurant/institutional use, it looks so heavy duty. The home use chippers I have seen in the US are much smaller and usually made of thinner stamped steel. On behalf of french fry and fish and chip lovers everywhere, you have my thanks. Regards from the snowy US west.
Very nice work. Looks like it would be difficult to clean after using it. There’s a saying: A stick welder makes an average welder look bad but a mig welder makes an average welder look good. Stay with it and once you get your settings dialled in you’ll love it. Cheers Stuart 🇦🇺
Wish I'd found your channel a month or so ago. I've just had a major clear out and threw a few old woodwork vices etc into a skip (may still have a couple lurking somewhere) that I would have been happy to donate to you for possible future projects. I believe I've still got some old hand saws and chisels hidden somewhere if that is something you would be interested in. The quality of your work is really awesome and it is really great to see restoration videos from a fellow brit. Looking forward to the next project!
Glad to see your new video. I enjoy watching them, because your manner of work is the same as mine. Maybe that's why ;) I did not find a reason for nagging, everything was done as it should. ... unless the print quality of the printer is not good enough. :) I would like to see your videos more often. Great job!
There was a similar contraption in the deli where I used to work. It was wall mounted and a bear to clean. We always passed the health inspection. It was one of the first things examined.
Okay you got me on the title, dyed in the wool American slang, chips we call French fries. Nice work on the the the machine overall. Until you put it on the stand, the size of this tool is somewhat hidden, but it sure does work well. Thanks for sharing this video with us and remember Texas is watching.
Loved this restoration. What a great thing to have on a kitchen! Thank you for the great video. New subbie x Strange fact...I'm hoping to move to Wales next year!
First off, beautiful restoration. I have to agree with your rod welding. If that's what ots called, tuned out better than your mig. But, I have faith you'll soon be proficient with both.
Outstanding craftsmanship sir. This is a thing of beauty, you really brought it back from the dead. Good choice on the red for the base 👍👍 You've got a new subscriber. Looking forward to seeing what you do next. Be safe and healthy out there👍😷
Very nice job - congrats. Next project?: Modify the cutter by adding easily removable SS blades to optionally prepare thin ‘French Fries’. Personally I prefer old fashioned British chubby chips, but others will prefer the thinner fast-food alternate style. They also have the advantage of cooking faster.
Worked in a restaurant weekends while still at school used something very similar takes a while to chip 56lb of spuds, we had plastic barrels for the chips. No stand it was bolted directly to the table.
Reminds me of the old commercial "It slices, it dices, it Juliennes!" The Veg-o-matic.
Thanks for watching
Thanks for taking the time to post your video.... it turned out awesome. 👍
Thank you

Good job on this as always. That's one funky color. Unique I believe is the word for this one!
Thank you.
I loved everything you did on this restoration, down to the polishing with sandpaper. I will keep watching your channel. Thanks!
Thank you for watching
Fantastic Restoration.
It's like new now. Great job.
Very good, nicely done.
Beautiful restoration +. Looking forward to your next project!
Thank you very much.
Pro tip: keep the spuds and the chips in water constantly. It stops the yellowing and prevents the chips sticking together in the fryer!
Thank you
Great restoration!

Hi if you turn the power down a bit on your Mig you will find it easier for you.👍🏻😎👍🏻
Thank you, I think the wire was way too big also. I couldn’t find stainless wire below .8mm.

Grinding and paint makes me the welder I ain't. :D
Absolutely.
There was a similar contraption in the deli where I used to work. It was wall mounted and a bear to clean. We always passed the health inspection. It was one of the first things examined.
It does get messy after only a few potato’s.
Aaaannndddd...
I am officially craving fish and chips; and am thinking of making some tonight. Great video, mate. It turned out well...

The result is so good, Metcalfe should buy it from you and use in their showroom!. Subbed here!

I can’t modify the blades because the cast iron teeth won’t fit. The modern design does have interchangeable parts.
@@mytinyworkshop1213 As Sgt Maj Williams would have said "Oh Dear. How sad. What a shame!" 😢
Great work with this and all other restorations on your channel.
It's been quite a while since this last video, and I hope you're well.
Hi, all is well. I apologise for the late reply. I’m currently working on a new project. Hopefully it will be ready in a couple weeks.
Worked in a restaurant weekends while still at school used something very similar takes a while to chip 56lb of spuds, we had plastic barrels for the chips. No stand it was bolted directly to the table.
I wouldn’t wait to make that many chips
Seen many of these in use in chippies all over the north of England. Get the chip pan on.
It makes some really nice chips. I’m tempted to make some today lol.
French fries with beer! NICE!
best wishes from Yemen
Miss you
