Great background story of Nainoa. I would love to hear more about the history of Niu Ahupua'a. I know ir was awarded to his Kupuna, Alexander Adams by Kamehameha the First but I'm sure there are many mo'olelo

Nainoa Thompson is a great man. Someone with a dream - an admirable dream to better his community and the world - who has worked for it and pushed for it despite detractors, naysayers and nitpickers. That is how you make a vision into reality.

As a cruising sailor around the South pacific I find most of comments from Nainoa Thompson and Sam Low are based on fable beliefs; another question: since when did ancient waka designs allow wooden blocks on rigging as shown in photos of Hokulea also other modern materials such as, spinnakers of European design not Polynesian, nor are electronics aboard either.so why all these fable beliefs told to the media ?
