    One reason so many Kyokushin fighters get knocked down from the low kicks, is because they are mixed well with punches. Thai depends heavily and obviously on the low kick. That makes people more aware of its delivery.

      Also dont forget they are flat footed/grounded and train to target those small weak points shown early in the video. Muy thai trains many ways to leg check and they have their lead leg light and their stance is smaller making them not absorb the kick as much.

    When I was younger I didnt understand why Kyokushin fighters fought the way they did. Why no face punches ( because they would do serious head trauma due to no gloves and power) Not block more? Probably power as blocking kicks with direct head on blocks instead of redirecting/parrying or moving away would weaken arms. Why not head kicks? Because they train vigorously to counter them, as soon as they recognize a high kick they low kick the grounded leg. Why leg kicks? Because its equal to a baseball bat swing. Karate is very powerful. I still think some kicks like say the round kick from Muy Thai is extremely powerful as well, as is the fully trained American boxing jab cross hook. I admire Okinawan Karate and Mas Oyama Kyokushin deeply.

    12,00.
    Better is a cross-heel stomp kick, because you can step through it, and put all your weight into it, standing on the back of the opponent's knee. At that point, You have his back or side control, and free strikes to the back of the head.
    I don't know if he's training for a tournament with contact rules though, so what I described might not be legal.

    Kyokushin fighters are used to break baseball bats with their legs so lack of power is not a issue, maybe if you had a minimal background with full contact or street fighting you'd know how hard is to kick properly during a fight. Otherwise, even MMA fights would end after a single kick.

    Ok 22,30 is pretty badass and deceptively easy take down.
    Yeah, 230 through 25 is why I LOL @ guys doing spin kicks. Even if they get lucky, it's just bad strategy 9 times out of ten.
    27 disguising the leg kicks by starting with a high roundhouse motion. So he keeps the opponent off balance by throwing one or two "real" high kicks, but generally faking the motion and sticking with safer, more reliable leg kicks and body kicks.

      I believe this sadly, my father trained in Japan 1980s they were very prejudiced. One black Karate fighter ( I think Shotokan) he was so powerful watching the tournament. My father said to him “why arent you in it? You will do so well” and he replied “foreigners are not allowed to compete in the official tournaments/competitions” at the time.

    mauy thai punching is far superior to kyokushin, plus they use elbows and know how to bob and weave and dodge head strikes...kyokushin dunno what a head strike is lol
    the reason kyokushin get knocked down so fast from leg kicks is because they don't move around enough and dodge because they stand flat-footed, they don't block or check kicks for some reason...they just stand face to face hitting each other like punching bags

  • @lild1876
    @lild1876 10 років тому

    Kyokushin fighters get knocked down by Low kicks constantly due to the placement of the kicks. Kyokushin fighters are thought to aim for the ankle or kick through the lower instep. Nak May's tend to aim for the calf and knee, just take that into account before you start saying so and so is this way and so and so is this way. Secondly Nak May's don't Bob watch a full match our even competition of Muay Thai or Muay Boran they do not Bob they use slight back steps and slow side steps as do Kyokushin fighters. Now stop bickering and be glad we live in a world where you do not have to travel to far away lands to learn martial arts.

    It's called kyokushin kai. Founded by Mas Oyama. Gedan Mawashi Geri (low turn kick) is common in kumite. Its how karate (minus majority of the wrist locks) should be. Bare knuckle competition for blackbelts 18 and over. No headshots with hands, but everything else is legal. Knees & Kicks to legs, body, and head are legal. Punches to body are legal.

    Miyamoto Musashi said that one man can learn to defeat 10 men by simply training on his own, props to you for understanding that you dont need to understand what their saying to learn, thailand is a prime example of this, when I was there i could barely understand my Kru's but still i learnt quicker than at home.

    • @Vekren
      @Vekren Рік тому

      True but know that a teacher can be strong and not know how to teach. You can always push yourself far but having someone push you further and being humble and seeking experts in the field is always better. Miyamoto Musashi dont hold him in such high regard. I have his book “book of 5 rings” lots of good advice for the warrior but he had no honour and would employ cowardly tactics to take the lives of men in duels simply to gain a higher kill count. He would challenge someone, and hide in the bushes watching them for an hour when they dropped their guard and thought he would not come he would jump out and start the duel. No honour in that.

    nah, muay thai have head shots and also a higher variety of boxing style punches they have to be aware of. The problem seems to be that kyokushin fighters fight flat-footed so its harder to dodge attacks, and they don't seem to check/block kicks often at all...also it could be a conditioning issue.

    • @Vekren
      @Vekren Рік тому

      Yes agree with this, I mean their leg kicks can break baseball bats and they train very diligently however I think the flat footed nature makes them vulnerable, and they dont train to receive punches to face. Muy Thai has amazing conditioning and I believe at least the best Muy Thai fighters in the world have a more powerful round kick as they go up on their toes and push off the ground and fully rotate but we have to think that high kicks can easily be countered by Kyokushin as as soon as they recognize high kick they kick the standing foot immediately. Also Muy thais boxing not that great tbh Im scared of their leg kicks but even I could beat them in hands only as they dont appear to use legs to push off ground for punching and rotate pivot hips. Just my opinion. All styles have strengths/weaknesses
