Hey Matt, I love this video because it’s one of the things I’m looking forward to someday when I finally get my Harley, taking a cruise with friends! It really looks like a ton of fun. I really enjoy watching all your videos! Keep up the good work!
Matt, this is a great video. I really liked seeing the good roads in Southern California hopefully you will do more rides like this while demoing a bike. The Road Glide Special will be my next bike. I think I would like the tallboy handle bars even though I am only 5'7" thanks' again and Ride Safe!
Very nice job on this video. Excellent info on the specs of the Road Glide and the scenery was terrific. I'm in San Diego and have taken the roads you took countless times. It's a great ride, you all looked like you had a great time. Well done!
Matt, I bought the 2017 Road Glide Special 3 weeks ago(Happy Birthday to me!). It's an absolutely awesome bike. I had it in for the 1Kservice after 9-10 days! Anyway, I am also 6'6" and I am starting to tweak things to make it as comfortable as possible. After lot's of reading and research and watching this video a bunch of times I had the Harley Tallboy handlebars installed today(with Kuryakyn Iso grips). I did a 115 mile ride immediately after the Harley Techs were finished. What an incredible difference these bars have made! My hands & arms & shoulders now sit in a very natural relaxed position. I flow better with the bike around curves and turning left or right from a stop just feels way easier. This video and your insightful review was really the biggest reason I went with the Tallboy bars.Just wanted to say thanks so much! Next up is a taller wind screen and highway pegs. Thanks again,Peace.
Good video, good quality shots and editing. My family had a house in Julian back in the day and we would drive up those same roads every other weekend. Saw lots of riders even back then. Julian is a nice destination ride everyone should get out and do.
Thanks Matt for letting me tag along by watching your vlog. You seem to ride with a nice crew and it would be nice to ride with you guys in person one day. Thanks again.
was up there last April on a 2010 Road Glide went from san Diego to Tecate Mexico line and then thru the high dessert to Juliann what a great ride . coming from Illinois you just don't have those types of views . Thanks for sharing
Just came across your UA-cam videos. Great work. I too live in SC, south end of town. Riding a 2016 FLHXS, first time Harley owner. I'm thinking of doing this ride on the 24th of this month, but going to take the 76 all the way to Julian and then return on the 79. Maybe finish ride over Ortega. Thanks again for the videos! Keep em comin
Beautiful rides AND tons of info in detail for the ones of us that are upgrading this year... Great job brother! Loving your videos! Ride safe. Greetings from frozen Montreal.
Matt--I recently sold my 2015 FLRTUSE and am building a 2017 RG Special. I really appreciate your in depth, straight forward analysis of the bikes you ride and sell and particularly the options you equipment you add . I have been riding for more years then I care to admit, on everything almost that HD and Indian have made. I find the RG to fit me the best--I'm 6"1" and weigh 205.Thanks for your help-Ride Safe
Brings back memories:)) good apple Julian pie lol That was our weekly ride Palomar and swing by Julian to get pie, breakfast and rode back to SD. There are lots of sports bikes as well. Depends when you're heading over there. Awesome ride!
You make good vids man. This is def the best looking bike Harley makes by far. Just beautiful. If I keep watching these vids I'm gonna start liking Harleys
Great video, looks like a superb ride. If I tried to get 8 of my friends together it would be a disaster! Lol People would be late, couldn't agree on where to go, where to eat, where to get fuel, which route to take , how fast to ride etc........
Say Matt , gotta tell you ... I'm a new subscriber , I have visited many HD dealerships in So.Cal ( visiting your dealership was a good experience) but Right now You .. are really sticking out !! You not only sell 'em You Ride 'em Know a lot about the product You sell Your Interactive , down to earth ... ( despite your height lol- ) 👍
I rented both street glides and road glides from my local dealer and favor the road glide slightly for visibility to oncoming traffic. I like the new fan kit accessory idea for stop-n-go traffic. I preferred the instrument layout on the Street Glide.
Keep making your group ride videos. I recently sat on I believe a 2016 Softail deluxe and ergonomics felt rite. I saw your lady friend, Robbin, on her deluxe and my immediate response was " hell yeah! Her motorcycle is bada**!" Lol
Great video Matt very informitive. I was wondering when you film is your gopro on the side of your helmet and if so why do you do that instead of it being on the front of your helmet. Thanks Mac
Great review. Just getting my first service on my 17 MW8 RGS in a couple of days and will be getting a stage 1 at the same time. Really happy with the existing power (way better than my old stage 1 15 RGS) but hey, more is better right? I've test ridden the 17 SGS and far prefer the shark nose. I think it's possibly what you get use to but found the street fairing claustrophobic even though it had a lighter feel.
Jonathan Reames , yeah I would like to know that too. I kept pausing to look at the bars. sorry Matt but I just don't like the angle my wrists are at with the stock bars.
Another GREAT VIDEO Matt!! Thanks for doing them. I've got the 2017 R/G in Laguna Orange and love it. The Hammock seat is the one I'm considering so thanks for the review. Wheelies on the street? No warning if caught doing them in Florida..its a $1000. fine for the first offense, and Suspension of license for a year on the 2nd, and then Jail for 3rd. :( . Keep them both on the ground if your in the Sunshine State......Like Bike Week!!
Why do the destinations and riding always look better than where I'm at? New subscriber here and another great video. I like your review style and presentation. I have a 15 ultra limited and thinking of a 17 RGS as a 'less is more' bike for most of the riding that I do but still have the ability to cross the country once a year. What is your honest opinion on comfort - obviously the seat can be changed but what about those low profile tires on the RGS?
Scoot Jockey I've thought about doing this. It's a project that I might tackle in the future. Thanks for letting me know that this is something you're interested in.
What about those "crookneck" mirrors on your bike? I have never seen any like that. Are they taller or longer so you can see more in the lane to your left and right?
Hi Matt, how did you find the Harley Hammock seat for a taller rider? Does it sit you further back, further forward or about the same as the stock seat?
Hey Matt I notice the rider floorboards and brake pedal are moved forward and outward are these HD parts? Thx.. I want to move my stock floorboard forward and the brake pedal longer/lower Cheers
I'm saving $ for my first HD, I like the SGS 2017, couple of the dealers a visited had told me there is no room to negotiate the MSRP since is a popular bike. Do you think is out of the question to offer 10% off the MSRP?
Tata 600 on a new 2017 at his point. That's over 2,000 off. If a dealer is asking MSRP without inflated fees then 2K off is not gonna happen. Milwaukee 8 bikes are still too new for a dealer to be desperate enough to discount like that.
@rkngrbn I'm 5'10" and I'm interested in a 2016 Softail Deluxe. I like the way you have your bike set up. What brand is your handlebars and exhaust? How much would that set up cost me? Do you feel any torque loss or gain with your exhaust?
Joe Dangelo I usually shift between 3k and 3500 RPM as well. Maybe I shouldn't have used the word cruise. I was climbing a hill at high speeds. If you're going up hill you should bring your RPM up to make sure you're not lugging the bike. Also I have a stage one tune on the bike that advances the RPM range out further.
Hey bro question. I just watched this video and I notice you had said that the clutch friction zone is far out . I just got the 2017 ultra limited and wanted to know if that's normal for these hydraulic clutches .
Hey matt I Own a 2017 soft tail slim s and was wondering how it would feel to have a windshield attach to my Harley but I'm cautious because I don't know how it would feel on 20 mile cross winds which I run into on bridges in Florida.I'm planning to get a national cycle Beaded Heavy Duty™ Windshield attach to my Harley and I'm only 5,9 what size of wind shield should I get ?
Hey Matt, I know this post is a bit old, but out of interest, how did you find the Tall Boy bars on the RG? I'm looking at an 18 RGS and the stock bars feel a bit close and cramped for me (6'3" tall). Do the Tall Boy bars give you more room for your arms or do they come back even further and make it worse? Obviously the leg room is improved with taller bars.
I hope everyone who wants a Harley-Davidson Touring motorcycle finally gets their's this year. Me? I have had a little more than a dozen motorcycles in my time. Then on Aug 6th 2015 I finally got my dream motorcycle. That would be a Harley-Davidson FLHP Police Road King. MY life long dream come true, at last. It is actually better than I had hopped for. Not being disappointed in my FLHP is a significant boost in my life. I first wanted one when I was 6 years old. So 60 years latter at age 66 I got one. Do yourself a favor, get your dream Harley-Davidson you will be happier than you have ever been in your life. Just as I am. Comfort, power, great handling-as good as a sport bike-except for the extra several hundred pounds-so don't race it on back roads. It will handle the curves but at around 825 pounds why would you race it. My point is they handle very well indeed and mine has never scrapped anything-never. The breaks are the very best out of any vehicle that I have ever driven or ridden. Monster stopping power with one or two finger effort. The comfort is there for an all day long ride and so you can get up the next day and ride another day-all day long. I'm getting around 45-47 mpg out of every tank and that's not too shabby at all for a touring motorcycle. The engine torque makes this a safe motorcycle in all conditions. The power is there even at 25 mph on a twisty back road. You do not need to downshift or wait for the rev's to build up. The power is instant and that's what makes this such a safe motorcycle, that and the handling and phenomenal breaks, and comfort.
Just did that ride yesterday! Super mellow and fun! 🇺🇸

Terence Riley nice! A vacation house there would be awesome. Amazing motorcycle roads.
Awesome ride Matt, loved it!
Thanks Matt for letting me tag along by watching your vlog. You seem to ride with a nice crew and it would be nice to ride with you guys in person one day. Thanks again.
Awesome video, I really enjoy these longer review/group ride style of videos. Good stuff.
Loved the video! More rides on backroads of California and good eating spots to eat at.

Eddie B. Thank you! I appreciate the compliment. Thanks for commenting.
Eddie B. I agree I live in Charlotte NC and I'm almost ready to fly to Matt's dealership... Lol.
Nice footage!! great video thank you for all the info and reccomendations on the RoadGlide vs Street Glide.
stevevfpa you're welcome. Thanks for watching.
Good vid, learned a bunch of stuff. Waiting for my 2017 Road Glide Special to arrive within 1 month. Thanks Matt.

Nice! Jealous...Wish I could ride now. We have ice rain here in Portland right now. Enjoy the videos. Keep them coming.
great video. if your over here in Maryland riding, let me know. plenty of great roads to ride.
aarondeere will do. I've never been to Maryland.
Keep making your group ride videos. I recently sat on I believe a 2016 Softail deluxe and ergonomics felt rite. I saw your lady friend, Robbin, on her deluxe and my immediate response was " hell yeah! Her motorcycle is bada**!" Lol

Great video. Thank you.
fantastic 2017
love this video
Great video Matt very informitive. I was wondering when you film is your gopro on the side of your helmet and if so why do you do that instead of it being on the front of your helmet. Thanks Mac
Side of my helmet. If it’s in the front it gets in the way when I turn my head.
@@MattLaidlaw makes sense i wasn't sure if if was because of the road glide fairing to see over it. thanks again and keep up the great videos.
Mac
Love the streetglide 👊🏻
Great review. Just getting my first service on my 17 MW8 RGS in a couple of days and will be getting a stage 1 at the same time. awesome dude oh yeah this is great
What seat and bars is the gray RG running? Looks low and mean, very good looking RG.
Great combo ^^
happy new 2017
Why do the destinations and riding always look better than where I'm at? New subscriber here and another great video. I like your review style and presentation. What is your honest opinion on comfort - obviously the seat can be changed but what about those low profile tires on the RGS?
I hope you read this.Could you do a tutorial on the Boom Box? and especially the navigation part thanx in advance.
Scoot Jockey I've thought about doing this. It's a project that I might tackle in the future. Thanks for letting me know that this is something you're interested in.
I spent an hour last night reading the BOOM manual. There's more to that thing than I care to know.
What about those "crookneck" mirrors on your bike? I have never seen any like that. Are they taller or longer so you can see more in the lane to your left and right?
How do you like the sound of the screamin eagle kit with the 107? Do you think you can get better from after market?
Hi Matt, how did you find the Harley Hammock seat for a taller rider? Does it sit you further back, further forward or about the same as the stock seat?
have you done a review a dyna street bob
Rod Whitley I haven't yet. I'll do one. Stay tuned.
Do you still personally prefer the Street Glide?
So if you didn't have the tall boy bars the stock bars would hit your knees when full lock to lock turns?
T Sav yea or close enough to make it awkward.
nice vid.
Hey Matt I notice the rider floorboards and brake pedal are moved forward and outward are these HD parts?
Thx.. I want to move my stock floorboard forward and the brake pedal longer/lower Cheers
Cleber Vieira good eye. Yes they are genuine Hd. It's the floor board pans that's push the boards forward and the longer brake pedal.
Thanks!!!!
What bike do you ride ??
I'm saving $ for my first HD, I like the SGS 2017, couple of the dealers a visited had told me there is no room to negotiate the MSRP since is a popular bike. Do you think is out of the question to offer 10% off the MSRP?

what is reasonable in your opinion?
lol I would be happy with MSRP. Here in north east NJ some used 2015 models are selling higher then new 2017 msrp's. Thieves......
Tata 600 I think reasonable is MSRP as long as there aren't large undisclosed fees in there as well.
@rkngrbn I'm 5'10" and I'm interested in a 2016 Softail Deluxe. I like the way you have your bike set up. What brand is your handlebars and exhaust? How much would that set up cost me? Do you feel any torque loss or gain with your exhaust?
You can call our shop and ask for her.
I live there, i've lived in Julian my whole life
Very cool place
i know this has probably been asked before but what helmet do u have? i see guys wearing them in videos and really wanna get one
I especially liked what I noticed at counter 24:12. 😬
Richard Enstad I give up what is it?
zeallistic the Rack on the cashier in that place you are at. 😬
Great fantastic superb . Slipper clutch Really?
Yes, not a commonly known fact at this point.
Yes i had no information on this from dealers in Germany.
Which is strange because they seem to want to know everything ( sarcasm out).
does a touring bike or a softail lean better?
the tourers definitely lean better
Do they make this fan for the 16s
Telace Johnson No, they do not. There are other fans that aftermarket companies make that mount in different places though.
You cruise at 4K RPM on the highway? Is that a Milwaukee 8 thing? My HD mechanic told me to shift at 3500 RPM.
Jay S yes, it is. It's because of the slipper clutch and assist ramps in the new 2017 clutch.
Matt Laidlaw any way to adjust it ? Thanks for the help

Yes, the room for a taller guy is definitely noticed with these bars. I was happy with the extra room they gave me.
Cool. Thanks Matt. All the best for the New Year.
nice life
richco Harley Davidson 2017 today January 1th
!How can your friend keep riding a Yamaha with a Harley group like yours ? I think he will no longer ride it soon and get his own Harley Davidson :D

Pretty hot Sheriff
Road glode special
Really liked the video Matt, but would love more just riding content and less stopping and talking, just more long, really long rides.
the cop was cute.
Haha
FIRST!!!!
Don't break the law. The cop was right. Someone other than the cyclist could get hurt. Take that to a track or a secluded area.
Great job on this and other videos Matt. Very helpful and well done !
Nice! Jealous...Wish I could ride now. We have ice rain here in Portland right now. Enjoy the videos. Keep them coming.
Chad Ernest thanks. Yea we are lucky in Southern CA. Year round riding! Take care. Oregon has some nice road though!
