May the LIGHT be with you! - Навчання та стиль
Oh, my goodness! I have had my Canon SX 50 for a couple of years and never had it set on anything but Auto. I knew it could do more....i just didn't know what to do. Your video has inspired me. You have an excellent teaching style and I look forward to learning more. Thank you!
I am starting my photography journey and bought this camera. I was feeling so overwhelmed until I watched this video. I've always loved taking pictures of things I found beautiful. I've never thought of photography as something I'd like to get into until a few nights ago...for some reason I couldnt sleep until 5 am thinking about getting into photography. I have so many ideas ! I started feeling overwhelmed with all the functions and features of this camera. Your video really inspires me and makes me feel like yes...I can do this. Thank you so much.
May I know how the Bokeh it's looking?
It's 3am in the night and i am watching ur videos one after the other, unstoppable. I got my camera Canon SX50 3.5 years back and I was always on AUTO mode. Quite frustrating i started exploring every mode. When I post on FB i got better appreciation. I terribly wanted to know more about my camera then onwards. The other tutorials i went through weren't very convincing. The moment ur tutorials started - AWESOME! I found the best teacher. Clear tone, practically explained, compared with NIKON, even PHOTOSHOP explained ... Yes this was what i was looking for. Very much convinced. Thanku so much for making these videos.
I bought the sx50 today never used a camera I am going on a trip to Kenya for a honeymoon next year . I have just learned a lot already on the first episode. I am a fan. Thanks so much. Subscribed
By far the best videos for the SX50! I have the SX40 as well and a 350D. You give a lot of inspiration as well as how to budget wisely and use these wonderful cameras. As you and other photographers have said, "Its not the camera! It's the person using it" Keep up the good work bro. Thanks
***** I just purchased a Canon PowerShot sx50 yesterday and you are a life saver! I use a Canon T3i and I wanted zoom but can't afford 30,000. $ lol! So, I did a lot of research and I need one with a hot shoe, RAW and manuel shutter release. The Sony 300 has far better picture quality at 901,000 dots, they should but it doesn't have remote shutter release. Or a hot shoe. I wish the aperture on the Canon was smaller but, I keep reminding myself that this is for zoom and hopefully I will learn to take some great shots. But....I can't figure this thing out to save my life! You are a going to be my teacher and I , your student! Thanks for the videos.
I've owned one of these cameras for 12 months. First time I've put it on the P function. Can't wait to watch episode two!
+havartil Cool, I hope you have progressed further to TV and AV.
This guy and the content are great; the video may be eight years old but it's still relevant. Thanks 👍
I bought an sx50 just over one week ago. While waiting on it to be shipped, I watched your series using the camera. This is great tutorial and reference information. I felt comfortable enough to shoot fully in manual immediately. I plan to use this camera for the next year and then step up to a dslr. Thanks!!!!!
dvs70 Its a pleasure. Glad I could help!
I purchased the SX50 not long after its release. I had done a lot of research and everything seemed to lead me to this camera. With that said I bought what I think is an excellent camera but as you say, it is the person behind the camera that makes the difference. I have had this camera for over 2 years and have never learned anything about photography. Now that I found this series of videos I am looking forward to not only learning about my camera but also the techniques that will make me a better photographer. Wish I had this knowledge when I bought the camera. I can only think of the opportunities missed to make excellent shots.
subscribed! thanks for all these vids.
Hi Ashan. Its a huge pleasure.
Hello there, I hope you are doing fine, almost 10 years have gone... ! Just wanted to give a quick thank you for your invaluable help and tips for me (Beginner) I´ve learnt so much by just watching, pausing the video and looking at my camera...
I found your videos looking for reviews on the sx50 hs. Not only did you convince me that is the camera for me, but I cannot stop watching your vids. You make it so much less intimidating to be a newbie in the photography world. Thank you!
S. Ross Cool, its a pleasure. Glad you enjoy the videos. Enjoy your SX50!
ua-cam.com/channels/SMto9RkvcYQ4vWSKLJxF6A.html Thanks for the Video clip! Apologies for chiming in, I would appreciate your thoughts. Have you heard the talk about - Zetanniay Visionary Preset (do a search on google)? It is a great one of a kind guide for creating stunning photos in minutes without the hard work. Ive heard some extraordinary things about it and my cousin finally got great success with it.
Your videos are great thank you you taught me so much and I did subscribe and I'm looking forward to learning more about my Canon sx60
It doesn’t have WiFi or a mic input tho😔
Just got an Sx50 HS for fathers day. I have no prior knowledge of cameras or digital photography at all. This video was very helpful and inspiring. You explain things in way that is very easy for a novice like myself to understand. I look forward to watching more of your tutorials. Thank you so much.
Ryan Yanke Its a pleasure Ryan. Enjoy the show.
I think the bridge camera is the best place to start with digital. I have a friend who takes awesome shots and I still keep one in my wife's car. You can learn everything you need to know about photography both internal with the camera setting, how and why you use them and external, composition and lighting. Saw you flash video yesterday and one of the best I have seen and so far I will send anyone new to photography to watch your videos.
Marius - thank you so much for this VERY easy to understand digital photography video. My wife and I are new to this, and this is exactly what we needed. You have helped us greatly!
xflyingtiger Its a pleasure! Enjoy the rest of the series.
I've had my sx50hs for 4 years now (i think). Your video has really inspired me to use this camera more. Thank you for your videos and I look forward to viewing your other episodes.
Excellent video...looking forward to the rest of the videos. I really like your general approach, very natural! Keep up the good work.
thank you!
I have had a Fuji FinePix 2400 bridge camera for the last 2 years and have only rarely used it, and when I have used it, it has been in Auto. I have just discovered your channel and feel inspired. It is now set on P and off Auto and hopefully as I learn, the camera will get used regularly. Watch out on my Google+ feed for photos.
Graham Dixon Congrats Graham, hope you experience a lot of joys while off the auto mode!
Oh my goodness You're so wonderful! You make me feel hopeful about my photography again! I know I love my Canon 50x but you make me think that I'll actually be able to use it to it's full advantage!
+C B Awesome :) Glad I could help!
Dude, I can't thank you enough for this video! I have been trying to work with my finepix S8650 (less than £100 bridge camera) and most tutorials focus on beginners owning a DSLR (that seems unreasonable to assume to me) I was about ready to give up on photography due to lack of funding for better gear. Thank you so much. Your bridge photos are amazing, and now I will keep at it knowing what is possible with what I have. Seriously thank you! I really was going to give up!
+TwistedYarnBall 122 Its a huge pleasure, glad I could help.
Thanks so much. I needed to use my SX50 right away, and your video taught me so much in such a short time without having to install the software and download the manual. This was very helpful.
Rhythm Boo Its a pleasure! I'm glad you are learning so much from the show. All the best!
Yes, this is exactly what someone should be aware before starting photography.
Bridge camera is the way to start photography. And as you said, it is the person behind the camera that matters. Good video.
I bought SX50 a year ago...and I didn't know how awesome it was before watching you!!!! Thank you Marius for these videos...
keep going!!!!
Its a pleasure! I'm glad you are enjoying the show.
Really good tutorial love to take pictures but never understand what i'm meant to be doing. thanks so much for your guide. going to watch all your other stuff!
Just learned so much about my sx50 that I just bought. Thanks!
Going to watch the other episodes.
MrAntonGorodetsky Its a pleasure. Enjoy the show :)
I have watched many video's on people teaching camera techniques, but you are the best ,you add a little humour ,talk about a cheaper way to create an effect ,thanks very much 10/10 look forward to seeing future videos, all the best to you and your family
Right on about Program mode. I own this camera and don't even bother shooting in auto. Program mode also allows you to control the white balance. Kudos to you, Marius for also for stressing that it is not the camera, but the photographer. I agree that you CAN get great shots with a point and shoot. I bet that you, like me, love hearing "I thought you tshot this with an SLR." Great video. Look forward to the others.
Thanks. Yes, I have heard that a lot or people see a shot your taking and want to know what camera it is. Then when they see its not a $1000000 camera they look at you weird :) Good times!
***** Do you post you photos on flickr? Where can I find your images?
I have my photos on my website @ www.mwest.co.za and then most updated on my Facebook page facebook.com/pages/M-WEST-Photography-Digital-Training/146416018766436
I just purchased a used sx50 to start with photgraphy. I'm really happy that I found your great channel here on yt, I'm looking forward to watch all of your content. Thanks man!
+Synth Jam Its a pleasure, glad you enjoyed the show!
Hi Marius - have only just found your tutorials. Thank you so much for your time in putting these together. I have had an SX50 for over a year now, and am finally finding time to learn all about how to use its features. You are very helpful in the way you explain things.
***** Its a pleasure Anne-Maree. Glad you enjoy my series.

armando ibarra Thanks.
You are a very best teacher about cameras in UA-cam. Love you work sir.
Vevo Videoz Thanks, its a pleasure!
Hey Marius, I just finished watching Episode 01. I must say, it was very well done. I bought the Canon SX50 HS a couple days ago but haven't used it to take any pics yet because I want to learn about the settings first. I've learned a lot already just from Episode 01. If this video is an indication of what's still to come, then I might as well go ahead and tell you right now, that you're a hero. Thanks so much for the outstanding effort and contribution you're making to help me and others learn how to master the Canon XS50 Camera so that we too, can create our own amazing images.
Hi Steven,
Its a HUGE pleasure :) Glad you enjoy the show.
Have fun with the SX50, there are still lots more to learn on future episodes.
All the best!
thanks, can't wait for ep. 2!
How true. You are an inspiration. Keep these videos coming and thank you for sharing your knowledge!!!
+Patti Jasper Thanks Patti, will do :)
thank you
I have was inspired by your video and hopefully after learning from them it will open up a brand new hobby for me, just waiting now fro my canon SX60 to be delivered. looking forward to all your videos , many thanks.
Thank you ! Learning a lot from you
Glad i came across this as very new to photography and looking to buy a bridge camera as a starting point. It is inspiring to understand more and hopeful to experiment with so many different elements. And as this video is a couple of years old now I get to follow your other guides. Thank you.
I do very much understand what you say about the photographer behind the camera. Cameras are simply tools. It's real nice to have all the bells and whistles of an expensive DSLR but to my point of view, it's all about composition and lighting in the end. I often focus and recompose. Your illustration of what your older basic camera could do illustrates what I've known all along. It also gives me some ideas about creative lighting. I'd like to try the umbrella technique in a portraiture scenario. It might not be practical in the kind of outdoor event shooting I mostly do. My trick with the flash sometimes has been simply to place my partially opened fingers in front of the flash unit to soften or redirect the flash.
I've just purchased a Powershot SX60 HS and this particular episode has helped in understanding some of the functions of the P mode. normally I am an aperture photographer but this episode has helped me in understanding some of the controls. Controlling what tool I have is a basic step to creating something special. Thank you for this and your other videos.
Wonderful video... and I loved the 'Inspirational bit' a LOT... was thinking that I could not do much with my SX60 but after watching this I have some hope... look forward to watching and practising your tips... Thanks...!!!
Thank you! I have the same Canon S3 IS. Searching for tutorials and finally found your vids. Pshew!
Thanks for the video. Will be using the P mode for now on.
Excellent!
your photos are inspiring and stunning .... love the flower and man kneeling. You explain things so well ... chapeau !

Fantastic video done in a way that even I can understand which is handy as I have just bought a Canon SX50 and could do with some tutorials for it! Many, many thanks!
I have the SX40 who have the P mode too, and really, THANK YOU !
+Osmanlı Oğuzhan Its a pleasure, glad you enjoyed the video.
I just found your channel. Very inspiring! Thank you.
I must congratulate and thank you for producing such an interesting and informative video - it's exactly what I was looking for, something that I can follow and understand with no confusing jargon such as I've come across everywhere else.
I was brought up to use an old, very simple 35mm camera so I do understand the basics of film speeds, shutter speeds, aperture and depth of focus but today's digital cameras take that so much further!
What really delights me is that only this morning I placed an order for the Canon Powershot SX50HS, before I became aware of your video series using this very camera.
I will be following the series with great interest.
Thank you so much!
Hi Nigel,
Its a pleasure. I'm glad you enjoy the videos!
I have a fine pix HS50 EXR. I like the way you are explaining how things work. Very good. Thankyou.
+adnawWW Its a pleasure :)
Baie dankie vir n stunning tutorial Marius. I have the SX50 for two years now, but Ive learned a thing or two in this 1st episode already. Hope to see you as a speaker at one of the Cape Town Canon Roadshows one day soon.
Great videos my sx60 should be coming in today I'm very excited to learn how to use it to its full potential
I’ve been meaning to learn more about photography and try to use my digital camera more wisely. So thank you very much for taking the time and share your knowledge with us.
Your explanations are very objective and clear for us who don’t have a clue about photography. Now, I am going to watch the next episodes.
Thank you again!
Sergio Moura - Brazil
Hi Sergio,
Its a huge pleasure!
Congrats on wanting to learn more on Photography. I'm glad you have enjoyed the first episode.
All the best!
Marius.
thank you SOOO much for this series . i received my canon sx 50 hs as a christmas present .the manual might as well have been written in latin lol i have been fumbling around trying to figure it out on my own with absolutely no luck ..searching the web for tutorials specific to it& the only 1 i found was for birding ,so of limited help .am looking forward to viewing the rest of your series as this one was quite informative and easy to follow .
Thank you brotha, this video made me rethink my camera
You are just an awesome teacher. Thank you very much.
solomon vijay Thanks! :) Its a pleasure.
Thank you so much for this video. I sincerely appreciate you making these videos on photography. I just subscribed and I plan on watching all your episodes.
Quick question: Which (inexpensive) digital camera would you recommend that has a mega zoom that can also take phenomenal portraits of people close up? I like having pictures taken of my family and myself. I can't afford to spend thousands of dollars and so I'm curious which digital camera you would recommend for a couple hundred dollars.
Thank you so much! :)
SO happy I found your DPT videos!! I recently bought the Canon SX50 HS, and am very anxious to learn how to take the best pictures with the best settings.
Its a pleasure Linda! I hope you enjoy the show. Thanks for the Twitter likes :)
Excellent video...looking forward to the rest of the videos...thank you!
+Cheryl Vozzella Enjoy the rest of the show :)
Thank you very much. I think you inspired many people and Specially me . For me You are Master of photography.
You deserve for millions subscribes . Sorry for my english .
Great video! Thank you for spending the time creating this video and sharing your stories, very excited and looking forward to more video for this series!
I don't use auto or program modes, but it's great to know the controls available in program!
It's great that you are emphasising that one can take great photos with just what you have. I see there are so many people with DSLRs just shooting in auto mode and don't practice to learn and understand their gear...
I'm looking forward to on your explanation on focusing, I find focusing in dark scenes a bit hard and I switch to manual focus, but the result are often bit blurry. The solution I have thought of is that if my subject is close, I'll use my phone's torch to light as I auto focus. Would be great if you can share your knowledge regarding similar situations~
Thanks again! ;D
Hi Jeffrey,
Thanks, good to hear from you again.
Next weeks video is ready, it will be live on Tuesday morning, I did not cover the problems of focussing yet but will make an episode on the topic soon. a torch works great. Make sure your AF Assist beam is enabled. That also helps alot. On my Nikon you need spesific settings for it to work, but it helps. I will also cover live view focussing on that episode.
All the best!
Luckily I've canon powershot sx50 hs and I learned a lot from you, you explained like I'm in the class and you r my teacher :D , thanks a lot :))
Thanks! Gald you enjoy the show :)
Hii, hello from Mexico I love your videos, there are so much helpful, I love photography and mi first Camera is a Nikon coolpix p600 and I was kind of disappoint, because its not a reflex, but with your videos I just fall in love of my camera again :3 thanks you're a

Thank you for all the work you're doing. I also bought my canon sx50 last week partly because of you! You bring out much more about this camera. And I'm looking forwards for your future tutorial :) Many thanks again.
Its a pleasure! glad you enjoy the series so far.
Have fun with your SX50!
Yeah, I love your videos, you are so much more entertaining and helpful than reading a boring pdf manual. I am inspired to learn much more now, bought the Canon SX50 HS for myself for Christmas. THANK YOU!!
Thanks Cyndy! I'm glad you are learning from the videos. Enjoy your SX50HS
I have a Canon SX50HS and shoot alot of night time shots. Are there any lenses you could recommend to help improve from the standard one
Love this and I would like to have you do one on the cannon sx 60 since you have the camera. However with that said I would like them broken up into segments on each function, I find that as you go from function to function i can not remember all of it and I would like to be able to ready rerferrence things like setting the flash and things of that nature without having to find it on a longer video. Well done and understandable.
+William Hodges Glad you love the show William. I do not have a SX60 anymore so I'm not shooting new videos on it. You should find most of what you need to know on the three seasons of my show Digital Photography Today.
your reviews so useful i am not a photographer but after your advices i may be start thinking about it:) thank you

just bought my Canon Powershot SX60 hs...your show is very helpful indeed. thanks for these amazing videos...Now starting practicing, practicing and once more practicing))
badri kvachadze Its a pleasure Badri! :)
OK, as an amateur videographer, I couldn't help noticing your audio is a micro second out of sync with your video! This may be because you have used a separate audio recorder and added it to your video or, during editing you've moved the video ahead slightly. That said, your content is excellent and very useful for anyone new to this camera. Many thanks.
Awesome video keep it up!
Thanks for your videos, I´m learning some tips & tricks for my shooting. Greetings from Costa Rica!, one of the best places to take pictures from nature ;)
Well a real pleasure...and learning curve watching your tutorials. Thank you. You are an inspiration and I WILL learn how to use my camera properly.
Sarah Morely Its a pleasure Sarah. I'm glad you are enjoying my series.
your the best teacher i ever watch
it helps me a lot. thumbs up for you sir :-)
Johnson Lopez Its a pleasure, Glad I could help!
hi, your videos are very helpful. i have a canon sx60, is there a big difference between the 2? tks
Awesome tutorial. Thanks. I was particularly interested in getting better control over focus. As you described, in auto mode when the focus button is pressed it clicks and toggles between face select on and off. However in P (and all other modes) on my almost new canonSX50 nothing happens after I press the focus button. No click and I just get the usual choices for exp. comp. etc on the dial. Do I have a dud? Or might I have set something in the function menu that messed it up?
Hi Jamie, Thanks. Glad you enjoyed the video. Go to your SX50's menu and Reset the camera. Mine also did the same once and after a reset all was well again.
Great info. Thank you
Great starter vid
Hey I was wondering if I could use my sx50 HS for streaming can I use it on Streamlabs obs??? And if I can how ?
