As my wife and I live in Ruzafa, it was fun to watch this vlog and see familiar sights of the barrio - including the 1.50€ beer at 100 Montaditos :-) - and get your take on Valencia. Well done! Glad you enjoyed the city that I’ve come to love for many of the same reasons (the “pros”) you’ve stated. I lived 40+ years in Tokyo, which was great, but feel just as or more fortunate to now be in VLC - although for very different reasons than the Tokyo megapolis . Won’t dwell too much on what you missed out on (the “cons”) as others in the comments section have already weighed in, but I feel it’s worth emphasizing to your viewers that there’s an endless amount of mountains nearby with great hiking / biking to be enjoyed. Lots of hiking enthusiasts groups that organize excursions within 30 to 45 minutes of the city, but even more adventuring 1~1.5 hours away be it the hills or incredibly beautiful coastal walks to the south. Much of it is doable by public transportation but more easily accessed, of course, if you have a car as we do. The city beaches are very close to the Cabañal district, which has a somewhat similar hipster vibe to Ruzafa, so that’d be a great option for anyone who prioritizes proximity to the sea and sand over being in or near the more historic city center. For less crowds and unspoiled nature 20 mins south of the city. Seemingly endless stretch of golden beaches from El Saler passed the La Devesa / Albufera nature preserve area with sand dunes, an interior lagoon, shaded trails amongst pine and other vegetation, etc Great trails, some well-designed and marked, some trail-blazed and more rough. There have been times - typically the off-season - when I haven’t seen a soul for an hour or two in that area. Again, pleased to know you enjoyed your month in Valencia!
The voice experiment at the science museum was my favorite part!! You two are soooo sweet. And I really miss a good “hey” from Carrie!!
