Pierce you can tell actually cares about Ava. Unlike the others, when she says she can't go because she hasn't slept he tells her to sleep and then helps her fall asleep. He also is like a guardian over her. You can actually see the effect Ava had on Pierce. He gets jealous but it's not like power is the reason he wants to be with her. Before even thinking she was a princess, Pierce says that he trusts her. Like they just gahhh
