  • The nightlife in Barranquilla is full of Liquor and Music. La Troja night club in Barranquilla Colombia is a night club that is known for playing mostly salsa music.
La Troja is a legendary nightclub located in Barranquilla, Colombia. It is a landmark of the city's nightlife scene and has been a popular destination for locals and tourists alike for several decades.
The club was established in 1948 by Ángel Córdoba and was originally located in the historic neighborhood of El Prado. La Troja quickly became known for its lively atmosphere, featuring live music performances, dancing, and drinks. Over the years, the club has undergone several changes and renovations, but it has always maintained its reputation as one of the best places to experience the vibrant culture of Barranquilla.
One of the unique features of La Troja is its emphasis on live music. The club has hosted some of the most renowned musicians in the history of Colombian music, including Rafael Escalona, Diomedes Diaz, and Joe Arroyo. The music played at La Troja reflects the rich musical heritage of Colombia's Caribbean coast, blending traditional rhythms such as cumbia, vallenato, and salsa with modern sounds.
In addition to its music, La Troja is also known for its lively and energetic atmosphere. The club attracts a diverse crowd of people, including locals, expats, and tourists from all over the world. The dance floor is always packed, and the party often spills out onto the streets outside.
Despite its popularity, La Troja has faced its share of challenges over the years. In the early 2000s, the club was forced to temporarily close due to financial difficulties. However, thanks to the efforts of its loyal fans and supporters, La Troja was able to reopen its doors a few years later and has since continued to thrive.
Today, La Troja is a cultural icon of Barranquilla and an important part of the city's identity. It is a place where people from all walks of life can come together to enjoy music, dance, and celebrate life. Whether you're a seasoned club-goer or just looking for a taste of Colombian culture, La Troja is definitely worth a visit.
If you do decide to visit La Troja, there are a few things you should keep in mind. First and foremost, be prepared for a late night. The club doesn't usually get going until after midnight, and the party can last until dawn. Additionally, be aware that La Troja can get quite crowded, especially on weekends and during special events. It's a good idea to arrive early if you want to secure a good spot on the dance floor.
Another thing to keep in mind is that La Troja is located in a relatively rough part of town. While the club itself is safe, it's a good idea to take precautions when walking to and from the venue. Avoid walking alone, especially at night, and be aware of your surroundings at all times.
Despite these challenges, La Troja remains an essential part of the Barranquilla experience. Its unique blend of music, culture, and nightlife make it a must-visit destination for anyone traveling to Colombia's Caribbean coast. So if you're looking for a taste of the real Barranquilla, head on over to La Troja and prepare to dance the night away!
