- Bom Jesus do Monte and Sameiro are two spectacular, historic pilgrim sites on the outskirts of BEAGA, Portugal.
Bom Jesus is the number one tourist attraction on Braga. Quite rightly so as it's a UNESCO World Heritage site!
Never mind taking a tour. You can walk out to both the sites along a very pleasant Ecovia walkway from the centre of Braga. Take a packed lunch and you have a fantastic, free, Frugal Travellers day out!

Thank you for the amazing video: I didn't know that we could get to Bom Jesus by the riverside way. When I go there, I went by bus. And I didn't know that we could walk from Bom Jesus to Sameiro walking by the forest. It seems a very pleasant walk by the forest. Than you for the tip!

Omg, you must be so fit. We are just planning a trip to northern portugal, but, going west. We have been to Porto, Braga, etc, but you still found places we haven't visited. Well done.

We're even more fit now after housesitting 4 gorgeous and energetic dogs for 5 weeks 😁🐕 We hope you have a wonderful time in northern Portugal... isn't it such a beautiful part of the country! This Saturday's video will be our bus trip from Braga to Coimbra, then the following 3 Saturdays will be our Coimbra vlogs... I hope you get to see them before your road trip! We stayed in a double room in a lovely Air BnB on the hill opposite the university. The owner has 2 cats and a dog so we had a great time with them. I visited this church two years ago , I thought the statues were interesting with the water coming out from the nose and eyes , but didn’t know the meaning behind them , thanks for the information .

Hello Wilma! Thank you for your lovely comment. We spent 5 nights in Braga, and made 3 videos on our time there as we really enjoyed it! :)) After that we went to Coimbra for 7 nights, and are currently house- and pet-sitting near Caldas da Rainha... so there are plenty more videos to come! ~ Mandy
I worked for Titan travel and stayed in Braga st the Hotel Tourism many times, before heading to Porto for our river cruise on The Douro. Wish I was there now. Eight times in all.

Yes it was so lovely to be visiting on a Saturday when all the weddings were on. What a gorgeous place to get married! 😍
How gorgeous, the place adds to the atmosphere of the wedding or graduation, makes it feel so much more ceremonial. Cats play a big part in keeping rats and mice away, thus diseases from spreading.
It was so wonderful seeing the two weddings in such amazing locations... it definitely added to the atmosphere! I agree, it's such a great idea to encourage cats to keep rodents under control. Those cats all seemed relaxed and comfortable around humans, so were obviously very well treated. Thank you for taking the time to comment! ~ Mandy

Yes they were very interesting to see. I think the ceremonies and costumes have a lot of specific significance. It was lovely to see so many proud families celebrating like this.

In August they have a Feast, where Many people dress they provincial dress, Minho Province, with parades, folk músic and dance, Minho cuisine, like caldo verde soup, broa de milho, ( corn bread), vinho verde, etc Is similar in some way like Oktoberfest in german Province of Bavaria!

Im going now on the 15th sep.
Flying from Liverpool to Krakow . Then 3 days later krakow to Poznan
Then to Gdansk.
I've pushed Ukraine back to jan
Going tallin late October and Edinburgh In November.
