Golden Snitch | Harry Potter DIY

- This week it's time for our favourite little Gold ball! I'm making the Golden Snitch out of polymer clay and some aluminium foil

Things you'll need:
Super glue
Aluminium foil
Steel wire
Sculpting tools
Polymer clay (preferably black/brown)
Spray paint
Acrylic paint (If you don't have spray paint)
You'll need a oven to bake the clay. Had it in the oven at 110°C for 30 min each time, but make sure to bake the clay according to instruction on the package.

They do unfortunately, as a lot of the Hufflepuff items are really cool, so it is a shame! I will note it down, just need to come up with a cool way to do it! :)

Thank you for the snitch demo. I did mine a little different I used a small wooden ball and actual feathers for the wings plus I did the designs with wire then all painted with gold metallic paint. I did the designs with wire. Thanks again

I'm obsessed with Harry Potter, I have a lot of book and movie related items, whenever I leave the house I have at least one Harry Potter item on me (necklace, bag, T-shirt), but as far as DIY projects go, I've only ever done paintings. But I got so excited after watching this video that the next morning I was at the craft store when it opened so I could make one myself. It took all day, but I'm so so happy with the result! I can't stop touching it. Thank you so much!

I'm curious why do you use black instead of white as your base clay for a lot of your projects that you later paint? I'm new at clay modeling and am asking so I can learn from you! I think your creations are brilliant and as a Potterhead I love them even more!

Love the video you did a really great job. Really cool. I dont know if you can do this using a styrofoam decoration ball with the clay. I think if you go to cook the clay might give off some fumes from the styrofoam in the oven or not. But you did a great job with the clay sculpting nice detail.

so once i bake it the clay it will be very sturdy and solid? even if it fall it wont be deform?
Polymer clay won't be unbreakable, but it can stand quite a lot. I have dropped some of my things in the ground and it has gone fine, but it is not as durable as toys, so playing with polymer figures are not recommended. They are a bit vulnerable the minute they get out of the oven while hot, but when they cool down it gets better.

I am not quite sure that would work as a golf ball is made of plastic and has several different layers of foam on the inside that could melt or release toxic fumes :)

In case you need some new projects for your channel: what about some wand make-up brushes or an Hedwig owl (maybe a little bit bigger e.g. the size of the golden egg). Or a DIY for your molly weasleys pullover with the letter on it *_*
I'll take a note of all your wonderful suggestions :) I probably won't make a DIY on a pullover, because I really can't knit, my grandma is a master, but I did definitely not inherit her skills :'D

Thank you so much! Actually they are gold, but they are very reflective, so they sort of come across as something in between gold and silver. I used reference pictures from the Warner Brothers studio tour in London and all the official ones they have there are with gold wings, any colour looks good though :) haha well, some of the best people are Ravenclaws!

Yes, the polymer clay needs to go in the oven for around 30 minutes for each section, you could do everything in one go, but it is a soft clay and it is easy to ruin what you have already sculpted. No no, that is totally fine, I am glad you asked, it is better to ask two times than don't get your questions answered! :)
