The Lectric One ebike comes equipped with the Pinion Smart.Shift gear box which has the ability to shift gears 100% on it's own. You can also shift gears manually at the push of a button which is operated via an electronic system instead of a traditional derailleur system. The pinion gear box can change gears at a complete stop, unlike a traditional ebike transmission. Other benefits of this gearbox is the low maintenance; you'll never had to clean the gears, and the belt drive system does not need to be cleaned like a chain also. The ebike is pretty small and shines as a lightweight nimble commuter ebike, from a large well known establish USA based ebike brand.

the new laws on Ebikes in Cali are gonna mess with you man... no throttle at all allowed on class 1 and 3 ebikes.
😁We have patented an entirely new, low cost, hear-silent, ultra-efficient, infinitely variable, ultra-torque dense [small & light], high durability gear technology, called FrictionLess Gear, which is a reformulation of gearing theory sans any toothed wheels. The gear range can easily be >700:1 [ultra high gear rage possible] with a price half that of the lowest priced competitor. Legacy and novel applications abound. Retrofits of ALL existing bikes, even electrics, will be available. 😉
A novel, near-silent, electric motor tech may be paired w the gear set,
Would you have any trouble riding this bike without hands? The ergonomics on e-bikes can be kind of weird and this would be a test that I'd love to see in future videos, man!
@@BlargBlarg-z7kthat’s not gonna happen, throttle is still allowed on class 3 e-bikes, the law never said that you can’t have throttle on the class 3 e-bike, so what’s the misinformation.
@@BlargBlarg-z7kthe laws don’t matter, they’re non-existent and are already broken. Because we don’t allow the law to affect us.
Hey you ok in the fires? Please post soon so we know you’re ok! ❤

Hey I am not from Cali. I really like your content, lead to me and my fiance buy our e-bikes. I saw thew fires in the news, and hope you and your loved ones are safe.

Matt, I hope you are okay. I wanted to send you a message and I only knew to comment. We hope your family is safe everything is well with you. You have friends out here. Stay safe.
Hey Matt, I hope you are safe from the fires. Stay safe and secure. Get out of LA if you have to
I'm a long time watcher, first time commentor. I hope and pray you are okay with all the fires in your beautiful part of the US. 🤞
I hope you're safe from the 🔥. I know you're right in the area!
I bought me a hyper bike with a 48 volts this summer,and I like it a lot! Couldn't beat the price,little under a 1000 dollar's and came with a nice cover,bags for the back rack,and a killer lock!😊
I have a pinion acoustic bike that is a belt drive. It's not automatic on mine but i haven't had to adjust cables and derailers to keep the bike working top working order. After 2 years zero issues. The only thing you need to do is change the transmission fluid about every year.
I said that at a concert in the 70s
What a time to be alive
I got One coming in four days. Watched all the videos but your enthusiasm boosted my eagerness to the next level 😂 👍
Gentleman's E BIKE. Let's hope that these internal gear changers have some longevity. Wonder what the warranty is on that aspect of the bike?
Yeah these things are getting a bit too complex for my liking. What happened to just having a decently large 48v battery with a throttle and a 1kw gearless hub motor.
Amazing video ..I appreciate all the hard work you do making these great reviews..thank you very much.👍👍
You are my favorite ebike reviewer finally riding my favorite bike. I have been considering a dog trailer for my Corgi.
By the way since I got the One I never manually shift anymore.
Definitely get seat suspension.
Hey there Matt, we're both praying you & yours are ok during these horrible fires. Please give us an update when you can, I'm sure you have MANY praying for you! Love & appreciate your awesome videos! 🛐🚵✝️💗
Love this channel for ebikes reviews best by a mile, Watched a lot of your videos and subscribed, Been after a ebike for awhile, This one seems perfect for me, THE only problem I have is I am in the UK 🇬🇧 and a lot of the bikes I cannot get because they will not ship to the UK, Cheers dude all the best.
Wow an e-bike with an automatic transmission that is so cool. The bike looks super fun to ride I love watching him ride around Los Angeles and putting it together. How super cool . Hi cousin
I hope you and your friends and family are safe and healthy after the fire situation in your area. Stay Safe....
2.5" tires are perfect because they are wide enough to not get caught in most cracks/crevices and small enough to make your bike not feel like a tank.
I like cruiser style handle bars more is my only gripe but the bike looks fun and great overall. If I didn't have most my spine if fused with metal rods aligned I'd probably buy it in the future. I just hate leaning forward to ride bikes.
I hope your ok dude with all the fires and stuff happening in Cali sending prayers
Every time someone mentions that Lectric is the biggest ebike seller in America, it makes me think of Taco Bell in Demolition Man.
Lol😆😅🤣😂
Your doggy is too cute 😻
Keeping you in my prayers during these fires know you ride that area be careful 😢
I’m 72 and broke a leg 3 years ago. Also getting a touch of verdigo.
Is there a shop in LA County where I can see if I’m strong enough to handle this?
I’m pretty sure I can get help loading it on my cargo carrier so no worries there.
Sounds like the ideal way to get myself out in nature again ❤
Oh and how would it do being used on sandy roads and of course it is rain proofed dash right?
Matt, Thank you, I was hoping to see you review this bike.
First, good review. Second, the Lectric ONE is a sad near miss. Some readers probably wondering why I say that so I'll expand a bit.
The main reason is the choice of the C1.6. The C1.6 is, to not put too fine a point on it, the proverbial “bottom of the barrel” of the Pinion C-line. The two biggest problems with the choice of a C1.6 versus the next step up, the C1.9, is it's gear range, usually given as a percentage, and where that range is centered. The C1.6 is designed and targeted for flat land cruising, with no “low end” hill climbing gearing.
Well the best , 18, is 2200$😅
@andyfumo8931 Now, don't get me wrong. I can understand the choices Lectric made and why, and I can also understand the market Pinion, a European based company, was targeting. If Lectric had chosen the next step up, the C1.9, I would have zero complaints.
@Shindinru you're paying for the gearbox. If you don't like the feature you shouldn't buy it. Easy enough to upgrade battery and motor and controller
I would wait for Lectric to work out all the kinks before buying this. Last time Lectric exprimented with new tech it did not work out well. Their mid drive is no longer on the market.
Hi Matt, I hope you and your team are safe out there god bless 🙏
Hey you okay 😢 fire looks crazy
Hope your doing ok Matt. 🔥
I know you are in California I hope you’re doing well praying 🙏 for everyone
I actually prefer no suspension on street bikes. It's rarely needed, adds unnecessary weight, and most factory suspensions are trash anyway.
I disagree, I have both. My non suspension ebike has an old school spring seat and its fine for slow on road cruising up to 12 mph (or power level 2) and riding on level 3 it's gettin a little rough, and over 20 mph (Level 4 & 5) it will rattle ur teeth out. It would be fine on our main drag because it's been repaved recently but that has heavy traffic which I would rather avoid, and all the older side streets and secondary through streets you can forget about going any faster than 12 mph ( level 2). But my full suspension Wired Freedom I can ride full speed (38 mph) without issue.
PS extra weight, what are we talking about 15-20 lbs? It's not really an issue when you have a motor.
I like Letric bikes. I think they make a good product. However, they are following in the steps of all failed automakers by adding too many "creature comforts" which are weak points in the build.
I own the electric one and have enjoyed it. I bought it primarily for the low-maintenance element. Two problems with the bike, I believe the 2.0 version will fix these problems (hopefully) the battery is only going to get you 25 to 30 miles. I drive it to work and back and there are hills the battery does not like the hills and as a result the battery life is diminished. The other problem is you will feel the cracks in the concrete or blacktop streets. I guess the third problem is no matter how fast I peddle it is not going to let me go over 28 mph. They probably won't change that related to keeping it legal.
Hope you’re ok!!
Hey homie I'm checking in to see if you and your family is ok from the fires? !
Hope all is well for you and yours. These wildfires are out of control.
You give great reviews! I'd love to hear your thoughts on the Ristretto 512 ebike.
The boy is styling in his chariot !
I like your dog!🐕
My old gen 1 "cheater" folding bike is getting long in the tooth. I really don't care about the foldyness of any bike. And those folding T handle bars, I have no use for them (and like the control of a slightly wider handlebar). But the power transfer on this ebike is quite compelling. Hopefully by the time snow leaves my area, Lectric will have another model better suited for long distance and higher speeds, but with the cool transmission.
omg!!! Dog trailer the most Fun to watch!!

$2,700 and no suspension? No thank you.
It’s shame. I think they wanted to minimize the weight
That pinion drive system is about $1700 on its own
🙄

What maintenance on suspension? Besides wiping the mud off.😮
Whats the point of that big lower frame bar, if the battery is still behind seat post?! Only add for extra weight?!
Hope you're safe pal
If you run out of battery can you still shift gears?
Good question.
most likely. The pinion barely draw anything. Not being able to draw 200w is different than a mere 5 w for shifting
Probably. Usually when a bike tells you the battery is dead there is actually more like 10% left. These batteries don’t really enjoy dropping below that so manufacturers set the voltage low point there. On your bike if you’ve ever run out of battery you probably notice the display and lights still work but it gives you no power. This shifting isn’t going to use any more power than the built in light.
Hi Matt, would you sell any of your e bikes?
man...I wanna see dual motors on the bikes. I'm a big dude and want more power.
Motor don't give power, they transfer power. Battery is power, want more, don't cheap out😅
@@andyfumo8931 - "Power... to the ground". Which is that power transfer thing you mentioned motors do.
have you thought about an aftermarket motor they used to mount one at the handlebars with a propellor for motion on motorcycles some kind of system like this and you would have your more power

Matt noo! Be okay!!
mashallah❤❤❤first
So the gear box will still work with a dead battery ? I am only thinking the bike retail price should be around $900.00 lot's of cheap parts with very few expensive parts the ebike here is for elderly people that won't study before there purchase way to expensive
Where are these cheap parts? What are you talking about bro people like you with this nonsense talking about 900 dollars where do you come up with these numbers? Which part or parts on this bike is cheap?
The Pinion Gear is at least $1000 on it's own. Next time you might want to look up a few components before just throwing out a ridiculous price comment.
@LouBettino look at the cheap 300 dollar ebikes then compare to what's the great extra currency for there upgrades of those 300 dollar ebikes to the over $2000.00 dollars you would be spending but the new upgrade yourself a thousand dollar ebike with a $700.00 feature costume for same ebike with a 500w motor so then you would had saved alot to just order the gear box and brakes for a 300 dollar ebike and have the same look
@ you having a stroke or something?
@@earlscrib2356 You can't upgrade those cheap garbage ebikes to be belt drive.
The appeal, and most of the cost of this bike is the low maintenance belt drive, the pinion gear system(~$1000) and the light weight(~50lb w/o battery), with the added bonus of knowing the bike won't explode on you because it's not from Uwrbasjraqwrs Teknlogy, Inc. If you're not interested any of of those things, then you're not going to be interested in this bike and that's fine.
Not sure about this tech. Really wonder what those shifter gears are made off. My guess they are plastic, meaning easily break down and start cracking.
After doing some research. Kinda baffled at the price actually. I see this shifter by itself is sold for over $2k ?!?!
No suspension and $2,000.That’s crazy for an old man bike.
The internal Pinion Gearing alone is $1,000. If you consider that, I think the price seems fine.
No suspension cuts down on maintenance. Pinion Gear needs maintenance at 6,000 miles (oil change) & Belt Drive at 19,000 miles. Basically, you only need to worry about the brakes & tires on this bike the first few years of ownership.
These idiots acting like they’re about to climb a mountain lol all mad about suspension on a road bike
$2K+? They must be smoking cos ain’t no way man 😂🤦🏽♂️
do you know how expensive this pinion is? For 2k, this is the cheapest internal gear bike on the market, let alone an ebike
What makes you think the price is too much? The Pinion Gear Hub is $1,000 stand-alone.
The Internal gearing means the bike needs little maintenance until the Tires or Brakes need to be changed/serviced. The Pinion Gear System needs to be serviced at 6,000 miles(which is just an oil change, and can be done), the gates belt will last 3x Gear System services(19,000 Miles).
Never going to need new chains, have to lube chains, or replace front/rear derailleurs.
smoking that stuff that smells a bit plasticy 😂
@@DanielDavies32bro you don’t even have 2k hahahah

With the new CA ebike laws, this great bike is sadly now illegal to use here. It has a throttle and a motor that puts out more than 750W
They are allowed to produce killing machines, but people cant ride things at their own risk, typical freedom
I doubt anyone would get a ticket for this degree of infraction
It’s still considered 750 continuous … the higher power is not sustainable.
The e-bike is still officially legal according to the law.
Throttle is legal and the bike is legal as well.

Bro with this new Cali Laws how do you do reviews now in Venice Beach now that their prohibited on beaches and streets especially them over 750 watts & over 28mph?…. Just curious to know cuz I’ve been skeptical to ride my EBike now trying to avoid getting pulled over or worst fined….
These bikes are still legal. Nothing is prohibited unless we allow it to be.
Who cares about the laws man? Nobody cares
SUPER HEAVY!!!!Not an old man bike. It’s a nobody bike.Seven hours to charge..There are better bikes that charge in one hour now.Who will fix it it when it breaks.Which it will do quickly with that janky auto shifter.
It’s a big American company so if you live in America no prob, and the gearbox/rear hub combo is considered to be the lowest maint e-bike c\drive train combo of them all.
The shift sound like a duck
How are you going to do ebike reviews with the new laws in California not allowing throttles on Class 3?
The same way I always have, none of these bikes were technically legal even before the law changes. If the motor did one watt over 750 it wasn’t legal, and that is basically every single ebike. The rule was not enforced before, and the rules will still continue to remain unenforced. 99% of e-bikes are not “legal” but who cares, cops don’t, no one does, ride respectful and responsible 🤙⚡️this is not legal advice, this is real talk man to man
@@TailHappyTV Thanks for the reply!
The sell them as class 2 and the buyer can then unlock it themself but still say it’s a class 2
These e-bikes are still legal and the throttle is still around.
@@T67jvf4echClass 3 legally allows throttles that have a limit of 20 mph.
Your paying for the transmission .
So this thing will electrically go through a whole gear cycle for each start/ stop and slow/ fast event. It changes when it wants but makes you go fishing for gears by stopping pedaling. Basically the bottom bracket electric gears replace your rear wheel derailleur. So the people who don't know how to change rear derailleur gears will still not know how it works. When riding, they will be so involved in figuring all this crap out, that they will not ride it. This is a gimmick system.
Yeah I can’t see any advantage of this over just having traditional gears.
All you need to do is stop pedaling for it to change automatically, or change it manually with the buttons. I don't see the problem?
It also has almost no maintenance because of the internal gearing, meaning you don't need to worry about maintenance of the drive train.
I saw a video where someone who was pretty dumb figured it out really fast and loved it.
@@TheStoic84 my drivetrain maintenance is 5 minutes a week riding on salty roads in winter. Not spending 1400 bucks on a motor with a gearbox just for the sake of 5 minutes a week saved in maintenance.
@@ramborambokitchenkitchen6357 And it would be roughly 0 minutes a year for the first few years with this bike, or any other bike with a gates belt drive system.
The gearbox needs maintenance at 6,000 miles. At ~20,000 miles the belt would need to be replaced, which would be 2-10 chain replacements(and probably one cassette replacement).
I'm not telling you to buy it. The low maintenance is just one of the perks. If you don't think it's worth it, that's fine.
I can make it go faster but I can't fold it into a quarter my bikes are the only real hybrids out there they are gas and electric
WOW, more moving parts on an Ebike that will definitely break. If you build an Electric Motor right, you will never need a transmission. Lazy engineering. Oh, we cant get the rpm out of this lousy motor, lets just add an automatic transmission. Yeah, perfect. it's a new gimmic to talk about (like Toyota adding a speaker to make motor sounds in EVs and a fake transmission to make it fake shift). We can up the price, and it will definitely not last long at all. Because one of my Ebikes, with one speed, can only do 73mph (Stealth Clone)...... So how fast can this bike with tranny go??? maybe 144mi per hour?
The transmission/gearbox is only for the pedaling power. It's a hub drive and no transmission on the motor to wheel.
Looks like a rebranded Chinese bike.
It's not worth buying if it can only go 20 to 28 miles
rip
How’s the new not having a throttle law gonna work for your channel since you live in California? FYI I hope you’re safe fires are scary.
You can only legally have a throttle that can only go 20 mph on a e-bike.
Plus there’s no such thing as a new no throttle law in California, that’s just misinformation.
