  • Trained in industrial design Sylvain Berneron started his career designing exceptional models for BMW, Ducati and MV Agusta. In 2014 he stepped onto the path of watch designing (apparently inspired by WatchesTV videos).
Fast forward a few years, he's a Chief Product Officer at Breitling, an Academy Member of the GPHG, and launched his own brand with the first model "Mirage" already sold out until 2030.
Watch the full video to learn why this fantastic Dali-ish timepiece shouldn't have existed, and what the Berneron brand plans for the future.

This is like a watch that was made just for me. Its super thin, not traditional at all while being extremely traditional... its like a collection of things that should not work but somehow they do. I can see why he is so successful, this is a real grail piece here. And I have to tell you I really like that he adopted the philosophy of long, _long_ term planning, like Patek or VC would, 50 years down the line, not 3. That is what makes these independents without financial backers able to hang around for 250+ years. His brand is going the distance and longevity is a factor for all mechanical watch enthusiasts - that's important. Keep an eye out for a meteoric rise because this guy has it figured out.

You have designed a unique and very beautiful watch! I wish you every success and I will be excited to see your future bespoke calibres, particularly the very complicated one you mentioned.

This is a great watch and I would love to get it one day. However Horology is not always about possession. ❤

This has quickly become my holiest grail. Never have I wanted a watch more. Everything is sublime (incredible movement technically/aesthetically, eye-catching/artistic/daring design, beautiful dial/font used, very slim case, precious metal, gold lock case size of 38 mm), story behind included.
And even though some people say expensive, this is cheaper than a SS Nautilus and about the price of a RO jumbo on the secondary market. This is a full gold, fully hand-made watch… I’ve been thinking about this way too much

Very aesthetic piece. The dial is well balanced and flows artistically. Movement is beautiful also.

I find it so interesting how the Fibonacci sequence keeps appearing within nature.
When I was 17 and studying electronics in my country's navy back in the 80's, I discovered that I could create pseudo random numbers by applying feedback taps on a shift register based ripple counter built with J-K flip-flops. While trying to find the optimum positions for the feedback connections (fed into an XOR gate) to feed back to the first bit, I found that it was actually the Fibonacci sequence which defined the optimum configuration to create one of these pseudo random number generators with maximal output length, before the output would repeat.
Many years later, while studying cryptography, I found out that this was something that was already known and used. I was not the first to find this! LOL Fibonacci based LFSR PRNGs are a thing!
So it seems that the sequence that Fibonacci discovered, continues to be significant even today within computer engineering and computer science!

55K, sold out until 2028. As thin as a Piaget, as twisted as a Cartier Crash. This is pure beauty. Unfortunately, just for the rich.

The fact that the case is designed around the movement is wonderful! Reminds me of when Ferrari used to demand Bertone style the car around the engine…fantastique !❤

Great interview, but why do you have a television playing behind Sylvain? It is a distraction and diminishes the presentation.
