the slider value you input at 8:17 (.00) does not work for my character at all. I have the same frames as you ( 3 ) for right/center/left, and my body shape is almost identical. Im not sure where the disconnect is can you please assist?
David Schertz yeah I should probably make a new tutorial about duik bassel. To be honest I still use the old version of duik, the new one seemed to change things a bit too much for me. But maybe I’ll give it a second chance. Good luck with your rig!
Hello, great work. Really appreciate your effort. Please can you share a link to download your character so as for me to follow along with you. I'm a total novice in this but have great passion, and you sir just inspired me. Thanks. Also, please kindly share a link for lip sync of the mouth. Thanks again.
When you do your full turnarounds or when your character is facing a different direction, are you using a different rig or how do one achieve the back view animations as you did in your videos. Thanks and I am newly subscribed.
J C hey thanks for your question. For a full turn around, where your character turns from front to back in one motion, it’s a bit of a challenge. But if you’re just setting your up character to animate from the rear view it’s easy to fix. I use the same rig and just turn off all the face layers, eyes, mouth, etc. then I adjust the characters hair and clothes to look like a rear view. This way you don’t need a new rig you’re just tweaking the one you have. I hope this makes sense. Good luck and thanks for subscribing!
@@backwoodsanimation Yes, it makes total sense. I don't think I will be doing a lot of angles from the back so this is a great alternative than trying to figure out the complicated way. Also I noticed you created your character in AE, I use Illustrator so I hope I can still achieve the same results as you did.
I'm really struggling on how to actually make the character on after effects from scratch ready to rig. I don't know how to label, I don't know what needs to be separate, I tried to follow your other tutorial on how to make a character but it was sped up and I couldn't understand exactly how you did it, I'm really stuck
Hi..I've been looking your tutorials and I really appreciate for all the A1 knowledge you share here. A big thanks for that!. Question: If I try to do this with pre-designed "views" in AI..for example one design for quarter view, other for front view and so on.. it is possible to get that transitions between poses?
Yes is the short answer but it's not easy - you have to use the same number of vertices within every individual shape for each angle of your design and then copy and paste that shape from AI to AE on the same shape layer path of each object as a new key frame. This is effectively shape morphing. And you have to 'set first vertex' to ensure a good morph between your keyframes. It's time consuming but pretty good. This video covers the principle of it to some extent: ua-cam.com/video/eQWI8buBfHw/v-deo.html
for more clarification, my character won't look good at all when I turn it around I notice yours also have a little line outside but it can be fixed with puppet pin mesh controls, but mine has a bigger problem I guess if you like I can send you my after effect file too. thank you again
wait! what? this is awesome! I never knew you could add puppet pins to a precomp ... :O .... I was mind boggled how your slider control automatically in-betweened the movement of the body between the 3 key-frames..... i have so far only seen the slider control switch from frame to frame of different drawings..... so I am assuming it is because you used shape layers they can actually in-between themselves! that is amazing .... your slider range was actually 0.07 yes? you accidentally said "point O zero" ... :O :D great videos! :O what I have tried with one of my characters... and it seems to work because of the way it is drawn... i hand draw my characters and split the limbs in photoshop ..... but in order to help hide joint seperations when animating... I add, for example, a spare hip Null object (or two) on the body hip area, parented to the body, then I add a spare puppet pin point ( or two) on the actual hip of the leg layer, and I pickwhip that extra puppet pin to the hip null, so if I rotate the body too aggressively the hip null will pull the leg's puppet pin with it helping to hide to join :O .... also worked well for a head rotating and pulling a neck-tie layer underneath
Rahat Bin Kibria hey! Unfortunately this character is currently in production so I can’t release the files. But you can build one yourself using these videos. Best of luck!
@@backwoodsanimation alright!!!doesnt matter im trying with a joystick_n_slider to make a face rotation and see if its possible...dont you think? i also designed a character with Ai and convert it to Ae shape.....
Looks cool but the author did not show how to prepare the character (how to make three keyframes), which is why I guess many people did not manage to make a smooth turn. what is the point of this video?
Your Sir are a Champion!! Thanks for the comprehensive intro to Sliders!
Pretty Amazing Jono you are welcome! Thanks for watching!
please help me what version of after effects are you using?

I meant (.07) but that doesn't work either.
This is exactly what i was looking for, thank you!
Trying to follow along on Duik 16. Way confused but giving it my best shot.

Great brother! but having one query that how did you rotate the body like 3d. I mean, How to make like 3d in shape layer>2:25
it's only some shape and alpha matte
Love this. Insightful!
This is great man, good work :D
Thanks a lot sir
Most welcome

Is this possible with hand drawn layers that you scan and import in to AE?
Helpful tutorial :) But it turns out when I try to convert a vector layer to shapes the gradients change to some flat color :(
Amazing tutorial. Great job. By the way, your Insta link sent me to some other guy's Insta, not yours.
hey could you list the body parts that you had to make first?
please can u put the link of character to apply the tutorial !!

Please detail more about turning part of the character, especially the belt :(
i need this version of Duik. which u'r using
I was using Duik v15.52 but I believe there's currently a newer version out.
Old version was way easier to use.. But new one has some great features
@@backwoodsanimation I just installed the new version, but all symbols are different from your tutorial :( maybe I can get the old version...
Can we rotate on 360

Why best guyz have less subscribers....tell me
great stuff very useful!come from IG
So he doesn't show how to build character or anything?
Why 29 frame rate. Frame rate for animation is usually 24 frames. 30 would make it too slow.
