Thank you for a great video.
Wish more people would spend the time doing HOW TO's like you do.
It was not a "Do this, then that", you explained what PMS and MW-PU stood for, in a way that made sence.
Hope to see more Yeasu 817 videos in the future.
    Thanks once again, 73

Thank you for the clear explanation!
This is my first radio and I am amazed about the unusability of the menus, hidden functionalities and hidden tricks which are nowhere decribed.
You helped making the device looking a little bit better!

Brilliant Graham. Very clear and simple instructions and very easy to follow. I will see if I can do the same for my FT 450D. Thank you very much.

Simon, Many thanks for your comment. I had a quick look at the FT-450 Manual. It has a very similar scanning set-up which is also called PMS Scan. The process is much as per this video and is detailed on Page 66. 73 Graham de G4VUX

Excellent instructive video (as always) Graham. I was quite surprised at how long the scan took to cover 100kHz for a (fairly) modern radio. I did borrow an FT 817 a while ago to help me tune the oscillators in an ailing FT290R and quite liked it.

diymostthings, Thanks for your comment. Yes, it does sound like a long time but at 1kHz per second it gives me a chance to jot down the other station's call sign while I'm playing electronics at the other end of the shack or even in another room ! 73 Graham de G4VUX

Does any one know how to re set this? I wanted to set lower to 14.000 but I set the upper to 14.300 and not 14.350 and I can not seem no change it

Ok, but I think I'll just get an SDR to look for signals, this is far far too slow IMO to be useful. I just got my 817 yesterday so I haven't had time to look into it much but the setup like this is also quite wonky to do. Thanks, 73 from NL
