Vintage 1969 Olds Recording Trumpet! ACB Show & Tell

[Link in description] Here's an Olds Recording that just came in on consignment. Such a great playing, classic trumpet! The Recording has some wonderful design features, like the ergonomic valve block. It also has stress-free point-to-point bracing, a nickel leadpipe, the beautiful Olds Recording bell engraving, and a third valve trigger (this one works great!)
There's no redrot on this horn. The valve plating looks great and compression is still good. We do recommend using a heavier oil like Berp #3.
The Recording is more versatile than it sometimes gets credit for. It's not just a jazz soloist horn. Maurice Murphy recorded Star Wars on an Olds Recording! There's beautiful front and crispness to the articulation. The sound palette has plenty of room to work with as a soloist as well. It also works really well with a commercial mouthpiece setup like my TAZ!

FYI Max Goldberg (my first teacher) played an Olds Recording. He toured with all of the big names in the war era and was the go to Trumpet player for literally hundreds of recordings in that period.

I play on a 1957 Old Recording. Great horn, only thing ive noticed is that the third valve slide was made a tad too long which makes it constantly flat which is a bummer but its a beautiful horn

IMO I always find the Recordings for me better than the 37 bell. I like the 43 Bell on Bach though
