I understand where that’s coming from, but I’d argue that the fact that he wasn’t shown as much makes it even better. One of the things that makes him so intimidating is that he has a lot of agency in the story even when he isn’t shown. Everytime the gorilla screams “For Caesar”, we later realize it isn’t for the real Caesar, but for Proximus who is genuinely convinced he IS the next Caesar. So in that sense, it feels like every single scene he is shown is more carefully selected. Even if he steals the show because of how incredibly interesting he is as a villain, the fact that he only appears when the story needs him to surrounds him in a more threatening aura. I hope I wasn’t the only one that was waiting for Proximus to ambush Noa and Mae’s team when they infiltrated the base at different points of the sequence and was genuinely surprised when he was waiting at the other side of the door.

A few things I wanted to add, first off the importance of names in the movie 1) nova obviously from first movies. 2) proximus ceasar would translate to next/ latest king also he's very into Roman history 3) Noah maybe named after the protagonist in Noah's ark in the bible, which ties into a big part of the story happening at a shipyard/ dock, and also how the weapons are destroyed with a flood. 4) Cesar says may saw the same darkness in the telescope, which could imply a black hole which could be referring to time travel around a black hole. Just thinking out loud don't crucify me if I'm wrong lol.

I’m so confused by the ending of the film. What did they see thru the telescope? Who were the humans in the bunker talking too? Are there humans in space?
You could see it in his face at the end. A nagging doubt that he did the right thing getting Nova to her destination. His face says it all. Have I destroyed all ape kind. Then you have Novas inscrutible look. A complete mystery. Have I saved humanity from the apes. Or just as likely have I destroyed all ape kind in saving humanity. Humans must keep their distance and allow apes to evolve on their own. Really great movie. I liked every minute of it.
Good eye! This particular detail is called foreshadowing. Its just movie directors using clothes and different design cues to give away an idea of the future, May was given clothes much different as opposed to the prehistoric humans living along with the zebras, the dramatic irony is the apes did not understand what it all meant because May and her human counterparts are still inifinitly smarter than the apes, and the apes believe they have become smarter but not even being able to pick up on the clothes that she wore when they met her. My best guess as to why most people did not pick up on this is because they would rather focus on the ideas of how she knew exactly where to go inside the military vault rather than smaller details as to how she knew how to get there in the first place, and why was this place of significance, and also how intelligent you have to be create bombs and what her connection was towards looking through that telescope and the group of people she met at the end clearly still just as advanced as before reconnecting sattelite communications with the United States. To be completely honest most people watched this through the perspective of an ape who hasn't particularly evolved to the human potential yet so that could also be the reason?
09:55 You’ve only known Kevin Durand since LOST!?!???? You really should check him out in Dark Angel! It’s an old sci-fi TV show produced by James Cameron and starring Jessica Alba! One of the best shows of the millennium! He’s great in it as a half man half beast. Despite all the heavy make up his acting shines through wonderfully and he never gets enough credit for the brilliant work he does in the show! Or in most things tbh because Durand is great, but often gets overlooked simply because he’s a physically imposing guy and so gets kinda typecast in certain roles.
Well done! Ya know... I like the Ceasur trilogy. And Kingdom (and what is to come), and I also watched the originals when I was very little in the early 80s.... I kind of look forward to what they'll do next and how many sets we'll have from Ceasars universe
I thought the CGI was insane, I got teary eyed whenever they did a close up of Raka's face ❤❤ There were a couple of things I didn't get though, Where are the other Gorillas and Orangutan? After Noah and the girl are caught the original Caesar's legend is never mentioned again?
There are only about 350 Orangutans in captivity in the United States so this could have been a small detail suggesting there just weren't very many here to begin with, the only place in the west coast you would find Orangutans are in the San Diego Zoo sort of implying the rarity of the beloved one we saw, while on the otherhand there are gorillas in the San Francisco Zoo and the San Diego Zoo sort of offsetting the singular Orangutan we saw but not by very much because there are also 350 gorillas in the US within captivity. This could be a 2000 IQ detail added within the movies but don't take my word for it.
This had potential but was a miss. How did the humans, who could talk, avoid the virus? How did May know where to go and what to do inside the bunker? Who exactly was May and the William H. Macy characters?
Imagine a place in this trilogy where humans vs ape fight for space travel. Humans end up leaving earth with a space station...years pass as they try to find a new home...new generations are born on the station and taught about their history...a young crew ventures out on a smaller ship from the station to explore a new planet... they crash land. APES are everywhere -> lead into first movie??
I feel like there was no buildup of a relationship between Noa and Nova, I barely saw any action-only drama and ughh Caesar didn’t die for this :( ITS NOT A WONDERFUL DAY.
This way they are going to maintain Caesar's name alive. If it was Cornelius story he would have been the new leader so I believe this was the best option to make him justice
The part, i didn’t like about this film is not a lot of other fauna, their could have be more escape animals from zoos, farms and wildlife parks and maybe the main villain should have an elephant as his ride
A part of me wants the end of movie #9, to have a ship crashing through the atmosphere (implying its Charlton Heston from the first movie). Bringing it full circle.
Proximus is like Thulsa Doom from Conan the Barbarian, a cult leader destroying other tribes, and enslaving the young. He's also King Louis from The Jungle Book, obsessed with gaining human knowledge.
If they do time travel wirh Icaras and a black hole. Hope they do it with a smart human of "unknown" origin and do the reveal with him seeing what remains of the Golden Gate bridge instead of the Statue of Liberty as it fits with the correct coast and theme of the first two of the importance of the bridge.
I think mae is not immune at all, but more or less was a member of this bunker group that sacrificied herself for this mission as she could never go back
"Humans will never give up" and "I will never give up" means that Noa sees himself as part of his individual clan (opposed to as part of the ape species) while he sees every human as part of the human species and nothing else, he knows the apes did right and wrong, but all he saw of humans is their scheming and lust for power, while I was watching the humans felt like a mystery, an ancient and alien race, it's probably how they feel to Noa too btw we have the same name i am monke

Threw me off the whole time. I keep asking about it and haven't gotten any logical reason.
I'm bummed you didn't how after Mae shot that one chimp Proximus looked happy and wanted to know if there were more
Mae's backstory deserves a prequel
What a wonderful day!
Is it just me or did most of the apes sounded like Stoick (HTTYD)
I’m really hoping we see Raka next movie
09:55 You’ve only known Kevin Durand since LOST!?!???? You really should check him out in Dark Angel! It’s an old sci-fi TV show produced by James Cameron and starring Jessica Alba! One of the best shows of the millennium! He’s great in it as a half man half beast. Despite all the heavy make up his acting shines through wonderfully and he never gets enough credit for the brilliant work he does in the show! Or in most things tbh because Durand is great, but often gets overlooked simply because he’s a physically imposing guy and so gets kinda typecast in certain roles.
Is this the west coast beach as opposed to east coast beach in first movie?
Well done!
Ya know... I like the Ceasur trilogy. And Kingdom (and what is to come), and I also watched the originals when I was very little in the early 80s.... I kind of look forward to what they'll do next and how many sets we'll have from Ceasars universe
How did Mae know where everything was inside the bunker?
How did nova still have capris and a t-shirt?
Because she's from the bunker
I thought the CGI was insane, I got teary eyed whenever they did a close up of Raka's face ❤❤
There were a couple of things I didn't get though,
Where are the other Gorillas and Orangutan?
There's apparently another 5 movies planned so that's the cliff hanger, I'm sure we'll find out
there could be recency bias going on but i found this to be the most thrilling and well thought out movie in the entire franchise.
Wish there would’ve been more fighting scenes
Imagine a place in this trilogy where humans vs ape fight for space travel. Humans end up leaving earth with a space station...years pass as they try to find a new home...new generations are born on the station and taught about their history...a young crew ventures out on a smaller ship from the station to explore a new planet... they crash land. APES are everywhere -> lead into first movie??
Exactly!!!
4:00 i didn't catch any marks or whatever. that's just lazy. i already feel like Noa is descendant of Caesar because Noa looks too much like Caesar
7:50 yup just like when King Kong some powerful ape throwing his life away for a random white women😅
A Planet of the Apes stage play toured the UK in 1976. POTA was big back then.
Rise is the best reboot of all time still my fav in the franchise.
It’s criminal that the original Caesar didn’t come back as a force ghost like Starwars
I’m still confused why May had intentions of shooting Noah at the end…??
She didn't though? She didn't trust that Noa wouldn't kill her, and had a gun to defend herself
She almost wiped out his clan. She just wanted to protect herself incase he retaliated. I'm confused as to why she even went back in the first place.
I feel like there was no buildup of a relationship between Noa and Nova, I barely saw any action-only drama and ughh Caesar didn’t die for this :( ITS NOT A WONDERFUL DAY.
I agree.. I will always miss Caesar
:(
This way they are going to maintain Caesar's name alive. If it was Cornelius story he would have been the new leader so I believe this was the best option to make him justice
@@jasminriveraa1685I definitely Concur
It is a very bad day indeed....too much drama, not enough action and not enough story...SO MUCH WAS MISSING
12:58 Wait I don’t understand. Do the similarities between these two movies count as “Marvelizing” if we know they’re by the same writers?
Rakaka made me think of the ape doctor in tim burtons planet of the apes😂
We eating good this week
Yeah, the weakest part of the movie was the girl. I think it was partially writing and partially bad acting. She has no charisma.
She’s not supposed to have ‘charisma’. You realise she’s not the hero, right?
I think mae is not immune at all, but more or less was a member of this bunker group that sacrificied herself for this mission as she could never go back
"Humans will never give up" and "I will never give up" means that Noa sees himself as part of his individual clan (opposed to as part of the ape species) while he sees every human as part of the human species and nothing else, he knows the apes did right and wrong, but all he saw of humans is their scheming and lust for power, while I was watching the humans felt like a mystery, an ancient and alien race, it's probably how they feel to Noa too
btw we have the same name i am monke
