Mary is a character from a very old RPG maker game called Ib, in the game all the paintings of a famous artist live in a world that can be traveld to by going into one of the paintings, Mary is the only Human subject that he ever painted, a young girl alone in a advantvard dream land. Mary is alone in intill a girl her age and a man named Gary are sucked into the paint world, Mary is happy to finally have company but is worried she will be left alone after she finds out they are trying to leave. there are a few different endings of the game but only 2 people can ever escape the painted world, the ending the song is talking about is the "kill mary" ending, were gary burns her paint, killing her in the process.

When I saw that you covered this I FREAKED. I couldn't believe that you actually covered one of my favorite video game related songs. And you remixed it into a rock version and NAILED it. It's so hauntingly beautiful. Done only in a way you can pull off. The art, the instrumentals, the backing vocals, the whole thing put together is just. My god, I don't have the words. Just. This just gave me more back story ideas for my OC, Levia. A young woman who loved to sing with her mother, she would go to the park and sing to the children almost everyday and the resulting smiles of the kids filled her heart with happiness. However, the woman’s mother succumbed to illness after that loss her father changed. He began to scorn his daughter whenever she’d sing. Her beautiful voice pained him, reminding him of the woman he loved eventually he blamed his daughter for her mother’s death. Accusing her voice of killing his wife and so the girl fled from her grief stricken father with tears in her eyes.

watching this after the Ib remake came out and Mary's theme song got replaced with a new one. fantastically done! Ib was my second RPG maker horror game (my first one was Ao One) and it has remained one of my favourite games to this day. thank you for doing it justice
WOW WHAT HAVE I BEEN HIT WITH? The beginning was a pure blast of effects, from those golden outlines (just as Mary and you are both a golden treasure 🥺), to the flames (*inserts fire Elmo*) to the bloody writing (aka red paint, obviously. Do you really think there would be a thing such as ketchup down there? Pfff, please), to the tear and the drawings!! Probably named them all in disorder but nothing's in order in this world, anyways. This Mary would literally be scary if this kind of music busted through that "box", right? Imagine her chasing you down in her signature green dress as your impending doom resonates through this song, GOSH the nightmare. Those golden outlines are LIT, just like the vocals (and THIS INSTRUMENTAL, YESSS) are!! Ib's such as GOOD game, would replay/watch it anytime because this is a whole 8-bit rollercoaster of emotions and art.

This such one of a kind cover, I never expected a rock arrange for this song and it adds such a layer to this song Like the lyrics are already tragic enough and that sadness just becomes more prominent in this version. God that intro when it starts so gentle and spooky then just hits hard with those goddess-like adlibs and just loving the rock vibes UGHHH I love the emotion you put into the words both the quieter and more powerful parts, that balance is just perfectly executed!! You always manage to have such an elegant tone no matter what you sing and this song, once again, fits you so well hnnngh at 2:16 I love how you end that part and when you sing ‘unsparingly kiss me goodnight’ like yes ma’am I am those flames and will kiss you goodnight thank you very much. WOW WHAT HAVE I BEEN HIT WITH?
The beginning was a pure blast of effects, from those golden outlines (just as Mary and you are both a golden treasure 🥺), to the flames (*inserts fire Elmo*) to the bloody writing (aka red paint, obviously. Do you really think there would be a thing such as ketchup down there? Pfff, please), to the tear and the drawings!! Probably named them all in disorder but nothing's in order in this world, anyways. This Mary would literally be scary if this kind of music busted through that "box", right? Imagine her chasing you down in her signature green dress as your impending doom resonates through this song, GOSH the nightmare. Those golden outlines are LIT, just like the vocals (and THIS INSTRUMENTAL, YESSS) are!! Ib's such as GOOD game, would replay/watch it anytime because this is a whole 8-bit rollercoaster of emotions and art.
Love the fact that we still get some ib content even at 2022, thank you so much
