The username collision aversion is to protect companies from connecting to a domain with the same username. This may cause a catastrophic failure if it's allowed. Remember, if Windows developers hardcode C:\, most companies hardcode current user, or make their own function.
That folder conflict thing is actually probably part of the same system that handles AD folder collision. Usually in AD if a local user has the same name as a domain user the domain user gets username.domainname as the folder, looks like this is just that but locally, I doubt it's from older versions....or rather it probably is but not for any reason related to you installing windows there.
12:49 Well, you technically did not install windows in defaultuder0, you’re not outsmarted by windows because of some old NT heritage. Whenever a user profile is created with a preexisting folder with an identical name in the Users folder, Windows will change it to a “username.computername” naming scheme, when it does that, you can change the user profile path in the system registry and move over the user data and registry hive, that way, the user profile points to the same defaultuser0 folder.

Hey Andrew ! I found another remnant from windows 10 in windows 11 so if you open control panel move the directory up two times then that will show to windows 10 styled explorer. It functions the same but the upper panel is from windows 10 and all icons are from windows 11. Also if you go to C:\Windows\Media then there are a lot of sounds from older windows like windows 10 & 7. Its fun to watch your remnant videos so keep making other parts.
I found an older version of all the icons in the settings app (windows 10 settings app) this happened on windows 11 There’s also a bunch of random files that seemingly are squares of blue or black
Ok so after a bit of digging I found what I believe was the code that would’ve defined how Cortana was supposed to show up in a live tile on windows 10 (still on windows 11 where live tiles are gone)
12:46 That check is commonly seen in Active Directory environments. If you try to log into AD account where it already exists on the local machine, you'll get a "username.directory" user folder instead of the regular "username"
It honestly makes me mad how Microsoft can’t just support UWP apps for the SYSTEM account. Windows is so screwed up that it literally needs to take five hours to set up a user profile just so you can use that unresponsive OOBE. It’s quite buggy too. Sometimes people get locked out of their computers before the OOBE even starts because defaultuser0 forces them to type a non existing password on the lock screen. I can’t imagine how many people threw away their brand new computers because of this annoying defaultuser0 problem. I hope this will be fixed by the time Windows 12 comes out. Also great video Enderman! Glad you are back.
@@phonl1I’m saying the OOBE should run within the SYSTEM account rather than a user context. That way it would be much more reliable and stable. Since it literally needs to log you into a separate account to use the oobe, log you out when you are done, then log you into your actual account.
