Cara, what a fantastic fabric haul. You're so fortunate to have so many fabric stores you can visit in person. And to do it with like-minded people would be just dreamy. What a wonderful couple of days!
We were so lucky it was amazing!
What a wonderful haul, soooo many gorgeous fabrics 👏👏👏
Thank you! 😊
Lovely weekend Cara, thank you for sharing. All your fabrics look fantastic and I look forward to seeing your makes.

Thank you so much I hope you’re having a great week
Nice haul. Thanks for sharing
Thanks for watching!
I think I’ve watched everyone’s vlogs now and you all look like you had a fabulous few days! I made a trip to the rag market recently but made the mistake of going on Thursday and it was very disappointing but I’m glad to see you all made such good finds. I wish I’d gone to Barry’s!
I agree the rag market is definitely hit and miss, there was only about 4 stalls at the market but luckily we found some things we ❤️
It was lovely meeting you at Becs social in your lovely jump suit. The fabric you got was wonderful. I’ve been to the Fabric Eporium today and spent quite a bit. It’s worth it really no postage. Loved your blog. Have subscribed will be watching again. Xxx
Thank you so much, it was lovely to meet you too, we had fun at the shop, I expect you got some lovely things x
Cora, What fun! Good for you.
Suzanne
Thank you it was amazing ❤️❤️
Oh my goodness what fantastic memories to be had. Love love loved spending the weekend with you and all the other ladies ❤❤❤
Me too, just the best ❤️❤️❤️
Oh oh can I come with you? Looks like Aladdin’s Cave,.
It was amazing
Looks like you had an amazing couple of days, you’ve got some lovely fabrics. I went to Birmingham a few weeks ago, luckily for me they didn’t have as many stalls in the outside bit, I still managed to buy quite a lot though 😂, loved Barry’s, so much choice there
There were only about 5 stalls outside, but like u we made the most of it!
Wow, what a lovely weekend
It really was, we’re so lucky
What an amazing trip 😊 I really want to get to Birmingham, I always feel guilty suggesting it when planning a weekend away with my husband as he would know it’s the fabric that is the draw😂😂
lol definitely would see straight through you Nikki! 😅
@@sosewmad 😂
What a weekend-fabulous fabric, fantastic friends, and flavorful food! Lovely fabric at great prices. This was so fun to watch. Happy sewing, Cara!
Thank you Laura it was so much fun I hope your cook out was good last weekend x
What an awesome couple of days and a great fabric haul
Thank you ❤️❤️
Hi Cara! We all have 'space for more fabric in our lives' don't we? I will repeat what I wrote to Angela. I'm so envious of all the wonderful sewing friends you all have in each other and the availability of such amazing fabric resources. As I've mentioned, I do most of my shopping online. Is it a bit weird that I include you, Angela and Sarah as some of my sewing friends? Yup. It's weird. Haha, I don't care. I'm so happy that you all had this soul enriching weekend. And as always, thank you for sharing!
Hi Rita we are definitely all sewing friends which includes you😊it was amazing ❤️
@@sosewmad Thank you Cara. May I ask you a question about the Cuba Libra Dress? Did you make a toile first or just go for it? As I'm translating inches to cm and looking on the sizing chart, I'm falling into several sizes depending on the measurement. i.e. shoulder width/across, I'm measuring 30cm (using the illustration as a point of reference), which is way off the chart. My sleeve length is smaller than on the chart, length is always off on me, shorter front, longer back. You've made more MF patterns. Do you find their measurement are spot on for the size you fall in for the bust? Thanks for helping.
The MF patterns don’t have a lot of ease and I don’t make toiles, there is some gathering front and back of the dress so you’ll be able to make some adjustments, I’d work of your bust measurement and take it from there, it’s super simple to make so you could just do the top bodice
@@sosewmad Thanks so much for the quick answer. I'm so used to most of the patterns having so much ease in them, that I'm happy I asked you. The name of this dress always make me giggle, as it makes me think of a wrestling character in a silly movie I watched with my husband. I hope you'll post your dress.
I have such fomo seeing you all in my home town! I hope you enjoyed being in Brum. It has its faults certainly but there are some lovely places to go (especially for fabric!).
I’d be there all the time!😅
@@sosewmad was The Ivy good? I’ve not eaten there yet! The pub next door is where I had my first date with my husband: The Old Joint Stock.
Wow! No wonder you are tired Cara - a fun filled couple of days! People just don’t realise how exciting and tiring fabric shopping it can be, especially when there are bargains to be had 👍🏻👍🏻☺️. 💞
It’s the best kind of sport ever 😅
Wow;, some fabulous fabrics
Thank you x
Fab haul!!! So lovely to revisit the fantastic day we had, thank you!!
Thank you Sarah best ever x
Ooh if that’s the rib fabric I got from there, it’s fantastic. Makes great T-shirts, cardigans, dresses. I need to go back for more.
That’s great to hear thank you
Aww loved seeing what you bought, I don’t think it was too crazy, some beautiful fabrics. It was so lovely seeing you and spending time at the sewcial. Really enjoyed it. Xx
It was so wonderful to spend time together thank you I love your lotta dress ❤️
Amazing buys. Love it all. Well chosen. It’s fabulous. Your dress is super too. Which pattern is it please?
It’s the stitch bird dress by sewing revival
That was a great vlog Cara, loved watching you with the other girls having such a lovely time. I must get to Birmingham one day, so many bargain fabrics!! Could you let me know what the top is that you are wearing in the vlog, it’s really lovely. ❤❤
Thank you so much Im wearing the stitch bird dress by sewing revival its one of my favourite patterns
@@sosewmad Thank you for letting me know Cara, it is lovely, I’ll look it up now ❤️
I’ve been thinking about why we don’t have the kind of sewing friendships in Australia as you do in the UK and I think it might be because we are so far apart and it’s very expensive to unite us from different states. I’m not sure we have something like the Goldhawk Rd here either. I know Sydney Rd Brunswick has some fabric shops and no doubt other capital cities have a fabric district. Frocktails has done well here (not that I’ve been able to make it to any of them). I live in remote North West Tasmania so I’ve found it difficult to meet other sewists on the same page as me. I’m trying to start things here but fibromyalgia gets in my way.
Ah that’s a shame, however in our group I traveled over 3 hours and Angela over 4 so we are also v spread out x I hope you can find something x
@@sosewmad travel from one state to another is either a 12 or more hour drive or a flight. We have cities surrounded by large areas of regional areas with much smaller populations. I’d definitely travel 3-4 hours for a sewing meetup. Yet to find others here willing to do the same. It’s so lovely to watch you all in the UK though.
Loved seeing your fabric haul & hearing all about your weekend! It was so lovely to see you at the social 🤩
Thank you Clare it was so lovely to catch up with you and your mum x
What an amazing weekend you had. 💙🧶🌈🍓
Thank you Jenny it was awesome
I am so happy for you ladies!! I am so jealous… I don’t know of any other people that sew apparel.
That is an amazing outfit!!
We all met through social media how lovely is that!
What a fantastic weekend, lovely fabrics. Love your hair shorter, great for the heat too.
Thank you, my hair is having a sulk at the moment 😅
Hi Cara. I really enjoy watching your videos. You are so much fun. I love what you make. I was delighted to see you at Barry’s fabrics as I am a brummie and get a lot of my fabric from there. It’s made me want to pop there this week some time in fact. 😁
Thank you so much that’s very kind of you, I’d be there all the time!
It looked as if you had an amazing time. I hope to meet some sewing friends as you have Cara ❤
I hope you do too, it’s such a beautiful thing
What a great haul looked such fun 😊
Thank you so much it was amazing
Hi Cara I love love what you have done with the Paula knot top and the peppermint wide leg trousers - the trendy look of a jump suit but all of the convenience of separates, it just looks great. I would like to copy that idea. Is it easy enough to alter the knot top from being twisted at the front to simply tying at the back? I’m a bit of a novice when it comes to hacking patterns😂.
Hiya thank you for your kind words, no changes made to the Paula knot top, actually I couldn’t work out how it knotted 😅 I just wrap it around
It looks great thankyou so much for your reply.
Love a good fabric haul! Where did you get the beautiful fabric you are wearing in the haul with brown flowers? And what pattern is that. Looks amazing. Lisa x 🇦🇺
Thank you Lisa it’s a gauze fabric from Barry’s 3 years ago I’m afraid, the pattern is the bird dress by sewing revival I’ve made it loads x
@@sosewmad Looks beautiful 😊
Oh Cara, I’ve been having serious FOMO watching your vlog! 😂 I wasn’t even thinking about revisiting Birmingham but now I’m having second thoughts 😱 Perhaps that’s one for next year though because I’m on a fabric ban until boxing day 🤣 Great vlog as always 💞💞💞
I’m on a similar ban… said no sewist ever 😅 it was such great fun
@@sosewmad 🤣🤣 Yeah we’ll see how it goes. I’m 2 weeks in and having palpitations already! 🤦🏼♀️😅 Have a great week Cara 💕💕
I have avoided jumpsuits most of my life. How is that one for going to the bathroom? 🙂 I don't see a link to the jumpsuit pattern.
Hi it’s not a jumpsuit it’s the Paula knot top and wide leg trousers details in description box😊
Ahhhh! Ok. Maybe that’s the way to go for me. The look but not the inconvenience. Thanks! I guess I should pay better attention since I was taping together a Zoey blouse pattern while I had you in the background. 😊
Cara. Great video. When you made your Naya in woven, did you size up,
Hiya jan x hope you are well no, made exactly the same size as normal I didn’t even change the neck facing or arm bands
I had the best couple of days Cara, it was a great experience. I just emptied my shopping haul, Omg!! I've brought a LOT!! Next time I will bring a shopping trolley, as I was expecting not to buy so many bargains!💪🏾🫣🤣
lol it was the best weekend, I’m so lucky that you wanted to spend it with us, thank you ❤️
