perfect as always good old Guardsmen & women but ,same goes for the German Band ,especially the Flute & Drums, no one.plays German marches like them plenty of Humph, oh l'm ex 1st Battalion Royal Anglian Regt, Corp of Drums 1960s late 70s , the Vikings , but played along side Guards Drummers great sound , let's hope future generation's still get to hear, this wonderful sound, & our German Allie's the same , like all we wish them well,in these times ,they like us fighting terrorists, stay safe & yours their family's
My understanding is they are wearing State Dress which usually means either queen or Royal Family is in attendance for the performance at Horse Guards Parade? There is another UA-cam video "Beating retreat massed bands Birdcage Walk" with the same tunes but dum majors in Guards Dress Uniforms.
that is correct, they are wearing their state dress, the queen was in attendance, as was prince phillip as i believe. and the video (if there is one) is of the dress rehearsals i think
how come Senior Drum Major Scott Fitzgerald says "Massed Bands By the Center Quick March"? why doesn't he just say " Massed Bands Quick March? someone please explain
When marching in a band the drum major is in the center file. The idea is that you are to look at all of the people in the center file to make sure that you are in line, hence the phrase By the center.

Semaj, because the dressing is by the centre. All eyes will look inwards if you see what I mean.
