Whenever I come across a Lee Zii Jia video, all I see is haters. I don't know what Lee Zii Jia did in Malaysia to deserve so much hate. From my point of view, an athlete like him deserves more support. Lin Dan's career had some controversy moments to put it mildly. I don't see people hate on him as much. Why all this hate on Lee Zii Jia.
Malaysia has a national badminton association which cultivates and manages players from a young age. LZJ leaving the association to turn independant while close to the height of his career has been seen as an ungrateful move. Since then he has been in the limelight for the wrong reasons, early tournament exits, failing to qualify for bwf world tour, coach disputes, needing a break to reignite his passion, producing a rap song, rejecting another government funded programme for olympic atheletes etc. Therefore he has been labelled as brash and attention-seeking by unhappy fans. And this is made many times worse as he was once hailed as LCW's successor and is constantly being compared as such.
@@devil01942 I will avoid commenting on Lee Zii Jia's decisions, or how fans react to them. I'll just say that he at least doesn't deserve to be constantly attacked. By the way, I said "I don't know what he did", but I follow badminton closely enough to know all those. I just don't understand why that makes him deserve to be attacked.
@@xyzcv5 Nobody deserves to be attacked, but its 2023 and keyboard warriors are everywhere online. LZJ can beat any player and be No.1 if he wishes. He determines the position, but the problem with LZJ is that he is prone to "15 minutes player" then he drifts off course and loses the game. ĹZJ must strategise his play and vary his courtcraft like what LCW has done. Bitter experience has taught LCW how to tease or frustrate his opponent. He dances with his opponent. LZJ lacks that extras. When he was on fire, winning streaks, we love how he wins. Bro, where are you now? How about putting on the zizzle again?
@@qlife8645 .. you answered in your question, understand what you said? LZJ allowed himself the luxury of losing when actually he can win. Look at all the competitions he played, .. his opponent predicted and anticipated all his tactics, plus they exploited his weakness. LZJ's weakness is his fixed playing style and lack of flexibilities. His brutal confrontational playing style robs him of all opportunities to find empty space in the court to quickly send the shuttle and win the point. The Indonesian players, irrespective the singles or doubles players are good in this aspect. In the Taiwan, Korea and now Japan Open, LZJ played the same style and was trapped. Look how Angus from HK and all other players pushed LZJ to the left hand base corner (backhand corner), and LZJ is slow to backpedal to return the shuttle with a lob diagonally across court. It takes a lot of effort to do that because the distance across court is the furthest and the shuttle slows down during the descend. This allows his opponent ample time to position for a smash, deep into the side line of the base. LZJ lost many points because he does not play the shuttle for the nearest, but fastest path of least resistance to empty places in the court. Winning is speed and power putting the shuttle in empty places in the court which opponents find it difficult to defend, not brutal confrontation rattling. Axelson is good at this style that is why he consistent and win most of the time. Ginting is smallish in stature but an intelligent player. He plays a cunning and flexible game.
