Just got accepted into the TV and Film Production track as a transfer student! I'm so excited!! (very shocking considering I did the application the night before LOL)
I went there. And I just want to say to the hopefuls in the comments, the facilities are amazing when you can access them, but they are not what matter. Follow your passion wherever you are.

I wish I could go there. Always been my passion to get into filming (even though my channel doesn't really seem it). I've always wanted to go there. But my GPA and ACT score isn't good enough. And it's probably too expensive for me or my family to afford. Welp... Back to the drawing board...
Keaton Fails my problem is more-or-less the opposite. I have a solid SAT score and unweighted GPA, and I could loan any of the money I haven't saved up, but I just don't really have the work ethic for it. I've barely taken any Honors or AP classes even though I could've, I'm fairly involved in extracurriculars but I could be doing more, and I've made some short films but could be making way more and ones that are much better. I mean, I still have yet to apply, but I don't have any faith that I'll get in. Even the One Act play I wrote and tried to get produced at my school's film and play festival didn't work out because it was finished too late and now I won't get to put it on my application. I can almost feel the regret that 35-year-old me will be feeling...
Dylan - dude, if you know how you are just change. work ethic is the most important thing and you can choose to have it at any time. it's up to you and you CAN do it. just choose to. I believe in you mate ;)
Technically you still could go though. If you’re majoring in film, they mostly look at your work ethic and what you have done creatively. Sure a good gpa and sat score would help a little more, but you just have to knock the ball out of the park with your essay and short movie. My gpa isn’t all that great either, but I have the work ethic to build myself back up. I believe I have like a 3.1 or 3.2, but I’m heading into my senior year and I’m on an A and B average (and I haven’t even taken any tests.) I’m filming my short movie(s) this summer because I’m so excited but this school is a bit of a stretch for me, but the worst that could happen is I don’t get accepted here. Even then I’ll have a bunch of others that I will get accepted into. Just remember you don’t need a degree to do what you want because you can also get into film by working your way up from a position like being a grip or even P/A. Good luck though! ☺️
Man, when I went there it was the George Lucas Instructional Building (which they tore down to build this palace), and the courtyard, the Marcia Lucas Post Production Building, the Steven Spielberg Music Scoring Stage, the Harold Lloyd Motion Picture Studio, and the Johnny Carson Television Studio. Small compared to this.
Go to UCLA if you get accepted to both. Way smaller classes and the professors will become your friends and guide you throughout your college career. (Plus the production gear is way better lol)
I am about to graduate from Film School this August with a Degree in Bachelors Of Science in Digital Filmmaking so I am considering applying to the School down the line around 2026-2027 or around 2027-2028. But I will be a Graduate student so I know what my interests will be when I go to apply!
I am not an American citizen myself and I am applying for USC. You can apply for a scholarship and do the SATs! Check their website and the requirements. Good luck :)
Cinematic arts tells stories through the medium of moving picture (a screen) dramatic tells it through the medium of acting. This can be stage performance or just expression through any medium. Dramatic arts focuses on specifically drama while cinematic arts focuses on anything involving moving picture. Directing, writing, animation, and even film composition (why I want to go).
"I will say that there is a lot of resentment and disdain from working professionals aimed at USC film school grads." I would have thought that they'd be in high demand. Those facilities look top o the line. Cannot relate to what you are saying considering the tops names mentioned.
This is supposed to be a good film school but judging from this boring, unimaginative six minutes of video that looks like a hundred other videos from a hundred other colleges, I've got to wonder.
The reason people go here is because after you graduate, it is easier to find work in the industry because of alumni connections. Trojans all hire each other which is why they make up much of the industry. You can learn what is taught here in other places for sure tho
my dream college, all hands down. I'm gonna going there.
