For the most part, she's sitting on a chair in a tee shirt & ripped jeans and she isn't miming. She even yanked out her earpiece out after slightly bumming a note. That's what we need more of.

I remember when Gaga first appeared in mainstream, many thought she was a flash in the pan. This woman is incredibly creative, powerful, inspirational, and has a voice that transcends most distinguished pop icons of our era. What I love most is that she did a total 180, no makeup, no extravagant designer pieces, to give us the woman she is deep down. There is so much beauty in the raw, and we need more people to realize that in the polished “everything has to be polished” pop culture.

A part of this growth is a bit of Bradley Cooper - he challenged her to just be naturally herself when they worked on A Star is Born - from what I've read they've built a great friendship.

That last line she says about being your own hero right before she starts singing is exactly what I feel when I listen to this. I listen to it and think back to the bad times in my childhood (had a lot of childhood trauma) and hold my inner childs hand. I cannot put into words the difference this song has made in my life in just one year. Music is powerful but it is more than that in this song, but the emotion and feeling she put in this song is palpable and very profound!

People were expecting her to be performing in a glamorous and classy dress, but then she came out wearing a plain shirt, jeans and a converse. Her brilliant mind never gets tired of thinking how to stand out. She once again proved that all you need is your raw talent to get people's attention and even give you a standing ovation.
Yes and also..it was composed for a military movie so I think she was representing real women in the military in her dress as well..imo..at the same time as surprising and reinventing her usual look and style. Stripped down

@@agstinacueva1673 As much as The Fame And The Fame Monster got me thru adolescence I think much of her earlier music was more her expressing herself and her pain, and also just a lot of fun dancer pop bangers of course, often with uplifting lyrics too but I think lately more than ever the music she’s written just feels like it’s made more with the intention of speaking very directly to people and delivering a clear, positive message that can reach a lot of people. Ever since Million Reasons, Til It Happens To You, and the whole Joanne era her music is more like this. Born This Way was too but more electronic and too “weird” as a whole for as much mainstream appeal as something like this may have with the stripped down production

Her presence was a stark contrast to the glitz & glam that the Oscar’s are known for. Her vocals were so emotional. Yet, she had such composure where she nailed it. No auto tune, no bombastic backing music, no theatrics. It was just Her, front and center. I could swear that somebody near me were cutting onions during this performance.

I love how she made the Oscar's feel like an intimate performance. She did the glam for A Star Is Born, she doesn't have to prove anything to anyone. Probably sounded very much like it did when she wrote it in her basement studio. She really let the message in the song have its moment. ❤

One week after my little sister died I was just leaving for work, I started my truck and the radio was blasting; this song had just started to play and as I was driving I felt my sisters presence, so reached over to the passenger seat and held my hand out so my sister could hold it. This particular performance, for once...she's not Lady Gaga. She's just, Stefani. The rawness, the emotions we got from this one performance, needs no makeups or flashy dresses, just pure TALENT. She's fucking awesome, legendary. Not really a fan of her musical style before but grew up listening to much of her pop famous songs. As people may said, she looked crazy but I believed that she did that as a way to rebel and masking her insecurities. But as an adult now, I appreciate her presence and how much her voice and songs have helped went through my emotional conflicts.
She also did it to get the foot in the industry. She was over looked when she was starting and her first label Def Jam dropped her. When she got into Interscope Records she turned ,360 and became one of the biggest popstars. But the woman can sing.
She did all the "crazy things" because her first Studio told her she had no place in The Industry with only her pretty voice and her piano. And then she said "Fine, watch me" and look at her now, 13 Grammys, one Oscar, a sold-out Tour and a $500M Movie.

Her style was actually awesome, yes some of it was crazy it was a very precise choice for multiple reasons, its common for musicians especially in classic rock and pop to dress crazy just for the simple fact they are rockstars and are always putting on a unique show or dress in this sense and yes she too was doing this but she had many other reasons and important statements she loved make through her dress and overall look. I was in my late teens when she came out and I was not a confident person and hadn’t figured out who I was then so her style in my mind back then was too much for me to understand so I naturally didn’t appreciate it but now I look back at all of it, love a lot of her outfits, she looked incredible, always, I love art and she is living art with that said I do love her natural look and this best shes breathtaking without all the crazy dress too but she does it all in an extraordinary way.
