You're amazing at reviewing and recommending books Jess!!! You definitely do the books justice and these videos are so, so useful. It's so nice to have watched you grow and evolve over time x
Lots of interesting reads! I'm so glad to hear you enjoyed Woman, Eating because I was thinking of reading it soon. Sounds like a good option to unwind a bit in between heavier books for uni.
I love your book videos so much! Love your other videos as well of course but you read such unique books, I've found so many favourites from your channel over the years!
I love these videos so much. I've added 5 books from here to my TBR pile. I'd only read one from this list - I wasn't sure about Harlem Shuffle as I was reading, but afterwards I just kept thinking about it. I feel like Colson Whitehead has this special hold on me where I just keep going back over and over his books after I've put them down, until eventually I end up just loving them (though Nickel Boys was love at first read, and that's only increased x10 since I read it!!!).
Woah that Weird Compendium is very impressive! I've been reading this Reader's Digest folklore and myths of Britain for YEARS because its in columns and dense but its very interesting. I'm currently reading black leopard, red wolf. I'm just over half way. I started it over Easter. Interesting to know who the sequel is narrated by!
Amazing video! So many brilliant recommendations, I am very excited to read the Doloriad and maybe start with the second book by Marlon James. Thanks for recommending things that are different! Anyone can see the latest popular books, but it can be hard to find people who read the weird and the wonderful less known.
Recommendation (forgive me if youve read any of these): the terror by Dan Simmons. Wunderland by Jennifer Cody epstein Beartown A fine balance The dutch house Katherine by anya Seton Suite Francais Lilac girls Literary potato peel society Peace like a river Would love to know your thoughts. You are so amazing at reviewing and recommending. I love the way you talk about books and am always awed at how much you are always able to read!
So excited for more book content!! You've convinced me to prioritize A Passage North, i remember putting it on my tbr when it was first on the booker but it kind of fell to the wayside! also loved hearing your thoughts as always!
Oohh I'm adding Lambdas to my tbr I have Woman, eating on my netgalley shelf! Ahhh nearly forgot I have that Colson Whitehead is on my radar! I've a few of his works but yes to get to them
AHHHH SO EXCITED FOR THIS VIDEO Speaking of Hernan Diaz's new book (which I'm excited about since I also LOVED 'In the Distance' per your recommendation ^ - ^) and how people are relating it to Edith Wharton: I'm a huge fan of her work because despite the "New York aristocracy" she often writes about, her writing causes you to really empathize with her characters, flaws and all. I wonder if that was what was lacking in Diaz's new book?
wonderful video so excited to check out these books :) you really sold me on Diaz, Lambda, and Woman Eating!! just wondering, what internet book spaces are you most present on? are you more of a booktube consumer or like bookstagram scroller or...? just curious haha
Could somebody please advise how I can 'join' this book club? Do we all read the book in the bio and then await Jessie's review? Do we discuss it somewhere, perhaps Goodreads? Thank you!
At the moment it's working very informally! We just read the book along with Jess and next month we'll get to hear her thoughts and write our opinions on the book in the comment section. When the "book club" started, people sometimes emailed her telling her their thoughts, but I don't think that's an option now. The main thing is to read the book alongside her during the next month/s ☺
Jess are you still missing books from your Shakespeare collection? I saw some at my local Barnes and noble. Might be worth perusing their site or visiting the next time you’re in the states.
I agree with Klara and the Sun, I think it was slightly a let down especially after Never Let Me Go. Generally I liked the themes however it didn't seem the most interesting book to read
Half way through the video and I must say I love how articulated you are! Although please never refer to the US as ‘America’, I’m Chilean and there are many other countries in America, the continent 🥰
America is the demonym for the US in the English language. Forcing the conventions of your language on to everyone is imperialistic and unhelpful for everyone. Americans are not the only native English speakers.
It’s insane how excited I get for these reviews

Thank you so much for sharing! You analyse books so beautifully, I really appreciate hearing your thoughts and suggestions.

I love your book videos so much! Love your other videos as well of course but you read such unique books, I've found so many favourites from your channel over the years!
i would love it if you had a podcast where you deep dive into one specific book each episode. i could listen to you talk about books for hours
Mischief Acts actually sounds like something I would love so I'm glad you talked about it even though it wasn't for you. I added it to my tbr.

Yay a book video!! ☺️🎉 I’ve been taking about Woman Eating for a while now, this definitely gave me the little push I needed to go for it.

I am so late to this video but I think this is the only review of Klara and the Sun that I agree with.
Could somebody please advise how I can 'join' this book club? Do we all read the book in the bio and then await Jessie's review? Do we discuss it somewhere, perhaps Goodreads? Thank you!

It's not actually a book club it's just a one book tbr and you'll hear what Jess thought of it whenever she gets around to making another book video 🙃

how dare youtube not send me a notification the second this was posted!
I’m interested to hear your views on Sea of Tranquility. I just started it and I’m already so fascinated in the story.
Klara and the sun was my first by this author... I enjoyed it but it wasn't really what I was expecting... I gave it a 3 star if I recall correctly
Yesss!! 💕☀️
Jessss❤️i missed u
Great video.

I look forward to these videos so much 🤍 definitely my favorite content here
