    This was a great tool and resource for study on this chapter, specifically for verses 19-21. My understandings of these verses were cloudy and confused in my reading and this, among other commentaries, really helped bring clarity to what the apostles said and meant. Thank you!

Thx I had a man ask me once if I was born again, I told him no, I go it right the first time. Bold and brash? no once Jesus give you a message you must learn to walk in his path, and it starts by his love? this is all commandments.

    Are you implying that the gentiles would eventually have to get circumcised? Ir are you simply saying that we all should seek to become more and more like Jesus every day? There is a difference between becoming like Jesus and keeping the dietary laws of the Torah.
    The letter from James seems to be the best advice he could give to address the main issues that would become problems between Jewish and Gentile believers as they sought to live together in community. These instructions feel like a way to bring attention to the things they should address immediately out of wisdom and kindness for each other.

      Hello friend 🙂Thanks for watching and for your questions. Yes, I am saying that we all should seek to become more and more like Jesus every day. But, I found your other statement to be a contradiction, you said; "There is a difference between becoming like Jesus and keeping the dietary laws of the Torah." This is simply not true, there is no difference. Did Jesus keep the laws of torah? Absolutely He did. And so, if we are to "walk as He walked" like the Bible says, we should desire to live just as He did. Like the expression goes, WWJD- What Would Jesus Do?
      Now, I'll be the first to admit that in the past I used to confuse Salvation with Sanctification. But then I realized that our "good works" or "fruits" are a product of our salvation and not the means to earn it. Once I realized this, I began to understand that although we will never be sinless here on Erath, as followers of Christ, our desire should be to sin less while we are here.

      Keeping the Torah don't save us. After we are saved by grace through faith the Torah keeps us saved. After we are saved the ruach will bear witness with us to get circumcise. Abraham was circumcise after he was accounted righteous
      Circumcision is of the father "s long before the children of Yisrael came out from Egypt shalom

    I don’t understand the starter pack theory because the Jerusalem council addresses a situation in Antioch. In Acts 11:25, Paul and Barnabas had a year there, teaching them. So like 52 sabbaths to teach the Gentile Christians there but somehow a starter pack is still needed?

    • @purelightministries
      @purelightministries  8 місяців тому +1

      Hello friend 🙂I can understand your concern, although you may be confusing salvation and sanctification. Paul struggled to impress this same point to the Corinthians, who also needed a long time to be instructed. He said to them- "Brothers, I could not address you as spiritual, but as worldly-as infants in Christ. I gave you milk, not solid food, for you were not yet ready for solid food. In fact, you are still not ready, for you are still worldly." 1 Corinthians 3.1-2
      Our faith is a journey of growth and maturity. The writer of Hebrews says- "Anyone who lives on milk, being still an infant, is not acquainted with the teaching about righteousness. But solid food is for the mature, who by constant use have trained themselves to distinguish good from evil." Hebrews 5.13-14
      Let us continue to "grow up in our salvation" as Peter said and focus on Christ. May God bless your journey ❤️

      @@purelightministries But what about Galatians 3:3? Paul wonders why the Galatians (Who are Gentile Christians) are going to the Law of Moses, having started in the Spirit. So the Galatians already have salvation (because Paul is writing to Gentile Christians) but then he questions why they want to go to the Law of Moses. More specifically, Paul is addressing certain people who say you must obey the Law of Moses and be circumcised to get saved

    • @purelightministries

      Exactly yes! In those passages Paul is addressing certain people that say we must obey the Law to be saved, which is indeed backwards. @@purelightministries Certainly so, however I believe you have misplaced my response. Certainly, to love God is to obey his commandments, but some of those commandments are to not fall back under the Old Covenant system, for the whole Bible is God's word, and from there we are instructed what to do. For when Paul writes to the Galatian's, they are already saved, so there is no need to say "Obey the Law of Moses to be saved." As Galatians 1:6 NASB says, "I am amazed that you are so quickly deserting Him who called you [c]by the grace of Christ, for a different gospel." So when those brethren who came to say to the Gentile Christians, "Obey the Law of Moses to be saved" Paul had to oppose them, not on the grounds of salvation, but sanctification, for it wouldn't make sense to say such for already saved Galatians. Indeed, Galatians 3:3 sums up how the Galatians were being tricked to return back to that Old System. They had begun in the spirit, but were trying to be perfected in the flesh. To be perfected, is the sanctification process, and to be perfected in the flesh, is to try to be sanctified by the Law of Moses, and not by the Holy Spirit. Though I would agree with you that there is no such thing as a "Gentile Christian" in the sense that Ephesians 2:15 states how Christ had abolished the dividing wall between Jew and Gentile, the Law composed of commandments and ordinances to make for himself one man, neither Jew, nor Gentile (greek). But when I say Gentile Christian, I do not mean one that is a heathen, but rather, I mean one who formerly was, and originally was, not Jewish. For certainly you can say that some Christians come from Jewish backgrounds, and others do not come from Jewish backgrounds. Those that do not, are "gentile Christians" not in the negative way, but merely describing their background. However, I will commend your friendly nature, as you do embody the gentleness that is one of the Fruits of the Spirit. However, I can't quite agree with portions of your teachings, and I do have my reasons for it. I am of course, intrigued by how you view some of these verses that I find as "opposition" to your perspective. I would like to hear more from you that I may try to understand how you see what you do, for we are told to test every man's teachings, yours and mine a like.

    • @purelightministries
      @purelightministries  8 місяців тому

      Thanks for clarifying those responses 🙂 I understand more of what you mean now and I'll be happy to answer any questions you have. It sounds like you have a desire to seek the truth 🥰✝️ Amen!
      One of the best passages in scripture that helped me understand this topic is Hebrews chapter 11. A great question to reflect on is this- Was Moses, Abraham, or Noah Jewish? The answer is no, they were not. Once I realized that these men shared the same faith as many Christians today, the full narrative of the Bible became clear.
      Another thing that helped me is learning the difference between the "Jewish laws" (Rabbinic Talmud) and the Laws of God (the commandments). It sounds like you may already know about this, which is great!
      Now, I understand that the sacrificial system and the Levitical temple laws have been fulfilled in Christ, and I agree that trying to be sanctified by our own works is certainly wrong, however, many of the commandments remain for Christians to be set apart from the wicked world.
      Also, you stated "To be perfected, is the sanctification process, and to be perfected in the flesh, is to try to be sanctified by the Law of Moses, and not by the Holy Spirit." This statement is seemingly paradoxical because to be sanctified is to be righteous/lawful, which the Holy Spirt empowers us to do. In other words, walking in the Spirit is the same as obedience to the law- the key is the motive of our hearts.
      Someone may ask? Is it a sin to get a tattoo, eat raccoon, get drunk, or shave your beard? It depends on who you ask.
      To a newborn Christian who may not know these instructions, no, to them it is not sinful. BUT it can become sin upon their conviction. For James writes-
      "Therefore, to him who knows to do good and does not do it, to him it is sin." James 4:17
      It's by grace through faith in which salvation comes. Then, it is through that faith we desire to walk in the ways of the LORD, not to be saved, but because we are saved (sanctification). No one will follow the Law perfectly, that's why we need a savior. But as followers of Christ, we should ask ourselves WWJD- what would Jesus do? Hello friend 🙂I pray for your sake that you watched more than 25 seconds. It saddens me that you were unwilling to humble yourself and hear all I had to say.
      But I can relate, because I used to think the same way you do. I once misunderstood what the new covenant does. But then I realized that the New covenant was not only established because we CANNOT obey the law, but it was also established so we CAN, through the help of the Holy Spirit. For the Scripture says, “I will put my Spirit within you and cause you to walk in my statutes and be careful to obey my laws." Ezekiel 36.27
      Sadly, many people confuse Sanctification with Salvation. But we must understand that our obedience to God is a PRODUCT of salvation and not a means to earn it. Likewise our salvation does NOT grant us permission to live a sinful life. Simply put, we will never be sinless here on earth, but our desire should be to sin less while we’re here. For Jesus said, "If you love me, you will obey my commandments." John Ch. 14 and 15

    • @purelightministries
      @purelightministries  Рік тому +3

      Thanks for watching and for your question! That "yoke" could be referring to 'salvation through circumcision', or also the 'yoke of oral tradition' through Talmudic regulations. Either way, both are works of the flesh.
      Galatians 5.1 reminds us that Sin is our greatest "yoke" and says "It is for freedom Christ has set us free. Stand firm, therefore and do not be entangled again in a yoke of bondage (sin)!"
      James 1.25 & 2.12 tell us that "the law of God brings liberty and freedom."
      and Psalm 19.7 declares: "The Law of the LORD is perfect, reviving the soul."
      May God continue to bless your journey!!

    James was the leader of the church in Jerusalem which counted among its members many priests and Pharisees who still held to their Jewish roots and believed that Gentiles must become Jews through circumcision in order to become Christians.
    “So the word of God spread. The number of disciples in Jerusalem increased rapidly, and a large number of priests became obedient to the faith.” (Acts 6:7)
    Some from among this group had gone to Galatia and upset the Gentile believers there.
    “When Peter came to Antioch, I opposed him to his face, because he was clearly in the wrong. *Before certain men came **_from James,_* he used to eat with the Gentiles. But when they arrived, he began to draw back and separate himself from the Gentiles because he was afraid of those who belonged to the circumcision group. (Galatians 2:11-14)
    From this, we can see that the Council of Jerusalem was divided into two camps: those who believed the Gentile converts should be circumcised and those who did not. Peter addresses the former with these words:
    “Now then, why do you [Judaizers] try to test God by putting on the necks of the disciples a yoke that neither we nor our fathers have been able to bear? No! We believe it is through the grace of our Lord Jesus that we are saved, just as they are." (Acts 15:10-11)
    James addresses them, also:
    "Brothers, listen to me. Simon (note that James even used Peter's Hebrew name when speaking to the Judaizers) has described to us (James must be speaking here to the believers from Jerusalem since those from Galatia would already have been familiar with God's work in that province!) how God at first showed his concern by taking from the Gentiles a people for himself..."It is my judgment, therefore, that we (the Jewish Christians of Jerusalem) should not make it difficult for the Gentiles who are turning to God. Instead we should write to them..." (Acts 15:13-20)
    Thus, after hearing Peter's doctrinal pronouncement, James rose to speak and addressed those from his own flock whom he knew would have the hardest time accepting Peter's decision. James accepted Peter's teaching and added his own pastoral comments for the benefit of the pro-circumcision group present and for those who might be tempted to doubt that he, James, the leader of the "Judaizers", really had accepted the decision of the full ecumenical council that circumcision was unnecessary for Gentiles.
    One other point...you may recall that James insisted on a prohibition against eating the meat from strangled animals. Does anyone pay any attention to that ruling of James? If not, what does that say about James' real significance at the council and his authority to bind and loose?

    • @purelightministries
      @purelightministries  6 місяців тому

      🙂Thanks for your insights, although I'm not sure of the point you're trying to make. I do agree with your view on how James insisted against eating strangled meat. This is ironic because very few Christians take heed of this commandment.

      @@purelightministries Let's take a look at what the Bible says to see which of us is correct, shall we?
      *APOSTOLIC SUCCESSION PROVED FROM SCRIPTURE*
      1. In the Bible, Joseph and Eliakim were given symbols of their unique authority and stewardship in their respective kingdoms (cf. Genesis 41:40-44, Isaiah 22:20-22).
      2. The symbols of authority given to Joseph and Eliakim were a signet ring and a key, respectively.
      3. The office of steward passed from Shebna to Eliakim, indicating that while the person holding this office may be replaced or die, the office itself continues under the authority of the king, even if the individual officeholder changes.
      4. Jesus is the King of kings (cf. 1 Timothy 6:15, Revelation 17:14).
      5. Jesus alluded to Isaiah 22:20-22 when speaking to Peter in Matthew 16:18-19, indicating a parallel between Eliakim's role and Peter's role.
      6. Jesus gave Peter the "keys of the kingdom of heaven" (Matthew 16:19) as a symbol of his unique authority and stewardship.
      7. Therefore, Jesus established the office of steward in His kingdom, the Church.
      8. Therefore, Peter holds a unique authority and stewardship role within the kingdom of heaven, analogous to Eliakim's role in the kingdom of Israel.
      9. Jesus' kingdom, the Church, is eternal and will never end (cf. Daniel 7:14, Luke 1:33).
      10. The office of steward within the Church has continued and will continue until Christ's return.
      11. The office of steward passed from Peter to his successors sequentially, as evidenced by the early Church's recognition of the bishops of Rome as Peter's successors.
      12. Therefore, Peter's successors, the Popes of the Catholic Church, have continued serving in this office, ensuring continuity in leadership and the preservation of Christ's authority within the Church.

      Apostolic succession is dangerous because it places undue emphasis on human lineage and institutional structures rather than the authority of Scripture alone. Thanks for this information, but it has no scriptural authority. The New Testament highlights Christ as the ultimate authority, and believers’ direct access to God through Him (1 Timothy 2.5; Hebrews 4.16). Succession assumes infallibility, but history shows that even bishops can err or become corrupt. Like the Bereans, we're commended to test these teachings against Scripture (Acts 17.11). Scripture emphasizes faith, repentance, and the Holy Spirit’s empowerment rather than a specific lineage (1 Corinthians 12:4-11). It fosters a hierarchical view of clergy, separating them from the priesthood of all believers.

    There’s a lot that has to be considered when looking at Acts 15. Acts 15:11 says 11But we believe that through the grace of the Lord Jesus Christ we shall be saved, even as they.
    Notice peter isn’t saying these jews are saved the same as the gentiles. He says they shall be saved. This fits in perfectly with Acts 3:19-21. The acts 2 jews/Israel don’t have their sins blotted out/forgiven till after the tribulation. Heb 8:7-13 and Jer 31:31-34 both agree Israel will receice the new covenant and sins forgiven after tribulation. Acts 15 and Heb 8:7-13 are written after the cross so Israels forgiveness is future. The body of Christ sins are already forgiven Col 2:9-14.

      Hello 🙂 I'm sorry friend but your theology is inaccurate for several reasons. First, Jesus death provided the forgiveness of sins to all people of all time, regardless of ethnicity. Second, it sounds like you're describing 'replacement theology', which is unbiblical. Those 'jews' are NOT 'Israel'. True Israel are those who are born of the spirit. Romans 2.28-29, Galatians 3.29.
      The passages below emphasize Jesus’ redemptive work and the forgiveness of sins *for all who believe in Him.*
      1 John 2.2 "And he is the propitiation for our sins: and not for ours only, but also for the sins of the whole world."
      Psalm 103.11-12 "For as high as the heavens are above the earth, so great is his love for those who fear him; as far as the east is from the west, so far has he removed our transgressions from us."
      Acts 3.19 "Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out"
      May God bless your studies ❤️

      @kevinboutwell2243 6 місяців тому

      I’m familiar with your theory because I was also taught how to look at scripture. Proplem is friend you are leaving out and adding to scripture. The scripture I gave is very clear. You gave Rom 2:28-29. Paul is talking about kingdom program jews. The only true jews were inwardly and circumcised of the heart. No gentile present. You gave Gal 3:29. Israel has PROMISES. The world has a single PROMISE tied to Abraham that through his seed all families will be blessed. That is the only way gentiles are tied to Abraham. Next you go to 1 John 2:2. This is during tribulation and after Jesus death. Before Paul the gentile was without hope per Eph 2:12That at that time ye were without Christ, being aliens from the commonwealth of Israel, and strangers from the covenants of promise, having no hope, and without God in the world: 13But now in Christ Jesus ye who sometimes were far off are made nigh by the blood of Christ.
      The BUT NOW in verse 13 means exactly what it says. It doesn’t cancel Eph 2:12. The only way those gentiles in Eph 12 were safe is they converted to a jew and feared God. No hope as a gentile there.
      You gave Psalms 103:11-12. Thats right a gentile who feared God could get temporary forgiveness like the rest of true Israel by converting to a jew.
      You removed 20-21 from Acts 3:19-21. Jesus has to return to heaven until the restitution of all things happen that all his prophets talked about before that. Tribulation has to happen before the restitution of all things before Israels sins are blotted out. Heb 8:7-13 and Jer 31:31-34 also back this up. Israel will not be forgiven, receive their land from the nile river to the Euphrates river or get the new covenant till after tribulation. After you and I are gone these scriptures will say the same thing. God isn’t gonna change his word so modern religious systems will appear right. Another thing about Acts 3:19-21. You can see it says all this has to do with all things talked about by the prophets. God says Pauls gospel is about the revelation of the mystery kept secret since the world began. Israels sins being blotted out after tribulation per all the above scriptures cannot be Pauls mystery gospel per Rom 16:25-26. My suggestion friend is get away from religious tradition and start rightly dividing the word.

    • @purelightministries
      @purelightministries  6 місяців тому

      Thanks for clarifying those points. I can understand your perspective, although I don't see in taught in scripture. Israel is not the "jewish people" of today. Yes, there are jews who have Israelite heritage, but that doesn't mean anything regarding their salvation. God’s forgiveness is accessible through genuine repentance to anyone at anytime.
      Jesus says of these so-called jews- "who are of the synagogue of Satan, who claim to be Jews though they are not.." Rev 3.9.
      Think about Abel, Enoch, Noah, and Abraham. All these men were NOT "jews", yet the Bible tells us they were part of God's family.
      The good news is that all people, from past, present, and future- regardless of bloodlines, can be saved at any moment. ❤️✝️❤️

    • @kevinboutwell2243
      @kevinboutwell2243 6 місяців тому

      Your right about todays jew/gentile mix are not Israel but Israel is not the body of Christ. The jews today are saved the same way as gentiles not as Israel. We are in a mystery period that will end after the fulness of the gentiles be come in. Look at this. 1 Cor 2:7But we speak the wisdom of God in a mystery, even the hidden wisdom, which God ordained before the world unto our glory: 8Which none of the princes of this world knew: for had they known it, they would not have crucified the Lord of glory.
      Paul is saying before this point satan had no clue crucifying Jesus would save us from all our sins. All Israel had to do was believe Jesus was their messiah be water baptized and get temporary/remission of sins. Remission had to be temporary because Acts 3:19-21 proves those Acts 2:36-38 sins aren’t blotted out till after tribulation. What other thing could 1 Cor 2:7-8 possibly be talking about? Satan is only interested in being the head and sending you and I to hell. This hidden mystery gospel Paul is preaching in Rom 16:25-26 was hidden to Peter and Israel since the world began. It doesn’t matter how hard you lean into the false religious doctrine. All these scriptures will not go away or be forgotten by the Lord. The body of Christ isn’t Israel and Israels sins will not be blotted out/forgiven till after tribulation. Tribulation starts after the rapture of the body of Christ. The body of Christ cannot be there. After that Israels kingdom program that has never been fulfilled will start. Israel will be the head. All the previous scriptures say thats Israel will get their new covenant, and sins will be forgiven. Its not one thing like religion teaches and scripture proves it. Religious belief doesn’t make Acts 3:19-21, Heb 8:7-13, Jer 31:31-34 and Eze 36-37 null and void. These things haven’t been fulfilled yet. Your using doctine you’ve been taught and ignoring anything that doesn’t match that narrative. I used to do the same thing. These scriptures aren’t going away or changing. This is barely scratching the surface of all the scripture proving Israel and the body of Christ aren’t the same.
      PS thanks for listening and considering this scripture in advance. We have to follow the word biblically. Religious doctrine will vanish.

      🙂I agree with you that religious beliefs or doctrines can certainly be a hinderance. The scriptures are plain as the Holy Spirit leads us into the proper understanding. Also, I do not believe that the pre-trib rapture is biblical. So, I think we must agree to disagree at this point. I'm glad you took the time to watch my video. Thanks for asking. I am a descendant of Noah, a follower of Messiah. The good news is that God has made a way for all people to be adopted into his family. The Bible says that "All of you who were baptized into Christ have clothed yourselves with Christ. There is neither Jew nor Greek, slave nor free, male nor female, for you are all one in Christ Jesus. And if you belong to Christ, then you are Abraham’s offspring and heirs according to the promise." Galatians 3:27-29
      I pray that you are also part of this same family!

      @@purelightministries after viewing the video again, I am confused as to why you do not make a connection between the decision at the Jerusalem council and the laws of Noah? Is it because you are skeptical of the Talmud, given what you say about the pharisees and their customs? Also, if you are a proponent of Paul and his writings, then why do you call yourself a descendant of Noah, while also quoting the verse from Galatians? Lots of questions...thank you for your consideration
