I was there from from September 1954 until July 1958 up to passing the scholarship. Pop Brown was our teacher in my final year.

I went to the junior school from 1960 to 1964 after attending Lawrence Road infants. Went to The Holt School afterwards. I remember the head teacher at the time was a Mr Bancroft. Mr Williams taught us in what would now be called year 5. Lovely man - I used to run errands to Critchleys shop round the corner for his dinner. Mr Brown taught us in the last year - strict but very kind man. He also taught some of us lads the violin.

@@terrygribb9185 It’s good to hear from someone who obviously remembers Sefton Park with as much affection as I have for the place. It was very sad at the end of the video to see the stone carved symbol from the outside of the walls facing the playground. I remember being very pissed off when I lost a tennis ball which got stuck in the carvings of the leaves!
I think we must have spent most of our time playing marbles in the playground.

@@alanellinson587 Hi Alan. Good to hear from you. Yes I remember you. I went off to the Holt school after Sefton Park and then ended up in Coventry to do teacher training. I remember Joey and Ray Taylor (who was in the same scout group as well). I also remember a lad we called Crofty but can't remember his name. We also had Graham Whittle in our class - good footballer. I have a photo of the football team with Mr Williams which must have been in our last year.

This was my old school. I attended here through the late 50's until 1961. I was one of the first to stay on until I was 16.
Sad to see it go it was a good, old fashioned school and some of the teachers were first class. I had some good mates here too. I run a Facebook page now, dedicated to Sefton Park secondary modern. Hope you don't mind if I share this footage to that page, Many thanks for posting this.

Yes. By all means. I might be able to find the original 8mm
footage but it may take some time.

My Grandfather went there when (I believe) it was called the Sefton Park School. He would have graduated in 1918 or 1919.

These shots were taken about 1988. The site is now occupied by an Aldi supermarket.
