I believe that may have been where the capital was located but based on some of the ruins found. I believe the Azores, The ruins off of Cuba are also parts of the empire

The Azores were probably named after/ruled by Azaes (one of the ten Atlantean kings.) It has recently been confirmed that the Azores had human habitation at least 4,000 years prior to the Portugese having "discovered" them.
The Atlanteans were sailing the trade winds back and forth across the Atlantic. The Cuban ruins of which you speak were probably part of the empire too.

There was a rumor going on that someone from space spotted Atlantis near the coast of Maryland like approx 300km from it. It was a satellite image but the officials disclosed the image to the public. The one here in Africa might be just nature but I highly doubt that it lies near the coast of Maryland.

Tbh atlantis may potentially be on land now as deserts were once deserts, Icey and snowy biomes used to be sandy or hot deaerts, etc. Though we will never know the truth.. Anyways we will provably find lots if we search the ocean floors or escavate places like how they found Pompeii.

And to Ozgeographics for applying his skills to first debunk the idea, then call for the community to help go through satellite images to find the supporting evidence of a catastrophic flood that wiped out lare parts of north Africa?
Atlantis or not the Richat absolutely had wetland and any cursory glance at satellite imagery of the Sahara will tell you there was definitely water involved.
It matches Plato's description but the story was more ancient to him than he is to us, and it's not like he was averse to embellishment

@@MultiRationalThinker Plato very specifically wrote in Ancient Greek that the capital island (with concentric rings) of Atlantis was an island on a "lake/inland body of water." Plato never wrote that the capital of Atlantis was on the ocean, but the mistranslated English version of his writings sure imply that he might have (also, "sea" means either "ocean" or "large, inland water body" but it originally meant "lake," "inland water body," or "sheet of water" as well as "ocean.")
Plato did write that Atlantis was in front of (past/beyond) Gibraltar. Physically, the Richat is west of Gibraltar. But, more importantly, you were more or less forced to use the trade winds to sail the ocean in ancient times. If you sailed west of Gibraltar, you lost sight of land. As a primitive sailor without a compass or landmark, you'd be disoriented and lost at sea. Then the trade winds would push you back toward Africa's West Coast (seemingly bringing you to an apparently new continent somewhere in the Atlantic Ocean.) In or just north of Mauritania (where the Richat is located) there was the Tamanrasset River (a wide river with such a gradual slope that you could sail up or down it,) which traveled near the Richat.
Now, if you didn't use the Tamanrasset and just stayed with the trade winds instead of hugging the African West Coast, you'd get carried on to the Caribbean. In this way "The way to Atlantis [from Gibraltar] was the way to the other islands [Canaries & Cape Verde,] and from these you might pass to the whole of the opposite continent [the Americas.]"
The Richat is literally in a region with a plateau/mountain range that all mean "Atlantis." The Richat is 300 miles from an ocean that means "Atlantis" and was named specifically from Africa's West Coast (Mauritania, where the Richat is located, is on Africa's West Coast.) The Richat is about 600-700 miles from another mountain range that means "Atlantis." Similarly, a tribe whose name means "Atlanteans" lived between those mountain ranges that mean "Atlantis." Plato wrote about the naming of Atlantis, but almost no one ever concentrates on that detail. Nor do people concentrate on how Plato wrote Atlantis' capital was "50 stadia [9.25 km] from the lake/inland water body," which the Richat is. Many don't focus on how Atlantis was sheltered by mountains just to the north, had an abundance of elephants, a water exit to the south, a well on the central island, red/white/black rocks used to build buildings, etc., and the Richat has every one of these features and many other matches to Plato's description of Atlantis.
If you take all of Plato's details about Atlantis into account (not just the misleading Gibraltar detail or the incorrect measurements of the central island and concentric rings) you get over a 90% match, which is about 85% higher than any other location in the world. Being informed on the subject, mathematical probabilities and scientific method used to weed out impossible conclusions basically demonstrate that the Richat used to be Atlantis' capital island/city because there just isn't any other hypothesis that can even remotely compete with the Richat theory and match Plato's criteria for Atlantis.

@@captainl-ron4068 The only primary source is plato, it's an analogy for the city states or embires of the time. He claims to quote solon but solon lived almost 200 years earlier and there is no evidence that the story is anything but fiction.
