Even with the 5-year-gap between Sonic Forces and Sonic Frontiers people are already wondering if Frontiers will be an empty, rushed mess based on what we’ve seen so far. The "Find yourself Jak" was Samos's way of telling Jak to find his younger self in Jak 2, cause Samos knew everything that was going to happened during the events of the second game due to living it before going to the past. But for the sake of preserving the timeline, after that one bit, he pretended to be ignorant of what's going on to make sure events led to how they did throughout the course of the game.

Jak 3 pleasantly surprised me near the end. I could never enjoy any Jak game outside the original (Jak II was too gray, dull, edgy and it really didn’t make me even want to try the third one), but at least the later cutscenes provided a satisfying conclusion to Daxter’s crucial “pants” arc.
Ja 3 at least brougth back some of the game's originalfeel towards the end. Of course, we had to deal with shitty vehicle sections before that. But hey, at least we find out who the fuck the Precursors are. Not that it answers much else, like what the deal with dark eco is
@@DaxterL It’s too “gray” and “serious.” Perhaps that’s the best and simplest way to describe why I thought Kao II was a downgrade from the “colorful” and “cartoon-y/silly” first game that I still love to this day. I also fell off of Naughty Dog’s games in general due to focusing more on realism even though I’ll always prefer the stylized cartoon worlds of Crash Bandicoot and the first Jak and Daxter. Although the first The Last of Us is a notable exception simply because I still think it’s a fun game with a solid story.
Jak 3 had a pretty nice story overall, but the gameplay never got better than Jak II despite its massive increase in mechanics. Jak II felt a lot more complete and alive, though it's story leans way too hard onto Daxter at times which leaves Jak being cringe and uncool kinda untapped. It's a shame that Jak 3 had such a mess in development, it really could have brought the vibes from the first 2 games together very well but ultimately just feels like "fun Jak 1 story" with "Jak II combat" and not much else
My favorite thing about Daxter, and Jak and Daxter in general, is that he's a pretty accurate portrayal of most of the middle and high school boys I grew up with, and 95% of the fanfiction and fanart for this series is drawn by women and girls lmao. Speaking of which, before Sly 4 came out, one of the things I thought would happen in it was that since it goes without saying Sly has Carmelita and Bentley had Penelope, it was going to be Murray's turn to have a sweetheart of his own. In fact, I remember talking with my sister (who was also a huge Sly fan) about the idea and one of the ideas she suggested was Jing King. I could've seen it working since Murray ignited Panda King's passion and I wouldn't have been surprised if he thought that after rejecting all of Jing's other potential suitors, he may have let the perfect one get away in Murray.
So from watching the iconic J&D film trilogy 1: fun and light hearted, nothing amazing but I doesn’t really have to be 2: disjointed and blunt, clearly the weakest of the trilogy 3: kinda boring for the 1st 2 arcs but shit becomes amazing in act 3
Oh yeah for real. I think Jak 2 tells an okay story by the end, but the limited gameplay lets it down. Jak 3 is mostly task-based cutscenes which are really disjointed, but the world itself is a lot more cohesive and fun. Jak 2 starts out really weakly, but by the end it finds its feet. Jak 3 is fairly consistent from day one. It also has gameplay improvements over the second game that makes it hard to go back imo

I’ve felt like the crazy one for years, thinking Jak 2 is insufferable and weird after genuinely really liking the first game, and Jak and Daxter’s dynamic. It’s definitely the awkward teenage years of Naughty Dog.
Yeah, I remember the plot of Jak 3 was pretty weak and uninspired, except of course for the Precursor twist, which was brilliant. And I think I mentioned this in an earlier Jak and Daxter video, but they should have brought back Gol and Maia, the villains from the first game, for the final one. Come on! Sucker Punch isn't involved with Sly anymore. After 3, the games went to Sanzaru which resulted in a shitty cliffhanger that only became a cliffhanger because Sony wanted to cut their loses with the PS3 and lead to the cancellation of the DLC that was meant to resolve it! Why no, I'm still not bitter about Sly 4's cliffhanger or Penelope's bullshit betrayal, what makes you think that?!

After everything that happened to Bentley throughout the original trilogy, he deserved to get something good and it was terrible that one game later they just decide to take it away from him because God forbid we have a perfectly happy couple these days! Speaking of which, before Sly 4 came out, one of the things I thought would happen in it was that since it goes without saying Sly has Carmelita and Bentley had Penelope, it was going to be Murray's turn to have a sweetheart of his own. In fact, I remember talking with my sister (who was also a huge Sly fan) about the idea and one of the ideas she suggested was Jing King. I could've seen it working since Murray ignited Panda King's passion and I wouldn't have been surprised if he thought that after rejecting all of Jing's other potential suitors, he may have let the perfect one get away in Murray.

So from watching the iconic J&D film trilogy
1: fun and light hearted, nothing amazing but I doesn’t really have to be
2: disjointed and blunt, clearly the weakest of the trilogy
3: kinda boring for the 1st 2 arcs but shit becomes amazing in act 3
Oh yeah for real. I think Jak 2 tells an okay story by the end, but the limited gameplay lets it down. Jak 3 is mostly task-based cutscenes which are really disjointed, but the world itself is a lot more cohesive and fun.
Jak 2 starts out really weakly, but by the end it finds its feet. Jak 3 is fairly consistent from day one. It also has gameplay improvements over the second game that makes it hard to go back imo

I’ve felt like the crazy one for years, thinking Jak 2 is insufferable and weird after genuinely really liking the first game, and Jak and Daxter’s dynamic. It’s definitely the awkward teenage years of Naughty Dog.

Yeah, I remember the plot of Jak 3 was pretty weak and uninspired, except of course for the Precursor twist, which was brilliant.
And I think I mentioned this in an earlier Jak and Daxter video, but they should have brought back Gol and Maia, the villains from the first game, for the final one. Come on! You can't have somebody say "Nobody could have survived that," and then they DON'T survive that! That's cheating.
