Finally someone who knows what they are talking about. I have been a photographer for 40yrs. Now 67yrs old I have watched a lot of youtube clips from young men who after a few yrs think they are street photographers. Thank you for speaking clearly and with purpose. Enjoy your work - I now struggle as I photograph from a wheelchair. You are to be commended. cheers from Australia.
Hi Hanz, I hope you will still enjoy photography despite being on a wheelchair. A different perspective and a different story to tell. And if you're not clicking, don't stop 'seeing'. That sight of frame makes life more wonderful!
“We’re going back to the days when a camera is a camera.” Perfect, Mindy! We can refashion our relationship with the art of technology. Thank you for that thought!
Your photos made me smile!! Mindy is my favourite Photographer based in Singapore AHAHAHA...Always thought Singapore is a boring place to shoot street photography but now I’m changing my mind after these videos
This is a breath of fresh air! Mindy does reportage (I wont even say the s***t word) so easily and gracefully, engaging her subjects with a smile and even getting background information from each person, just like the old-school “photo-journalists” of the 60’s and 70’s did.
Really enjoyable video. Looking forward to the rest of the series. Loved seeing your interaction with the Chess players. As a regular visitor I’ve found it difficult to not appear to be intrusive if I’m taking photos round there. Great work.
Okay I want episode 2 like now please. This was amazing and showed my favorite part of street photography which is getting to interact with and meet new people and you are amazing at this!
thank you, thank you. I recently bought an older xpro-2 to rekindle my passion... this story has inspired me. I also live in Singapore and can't wait to explore it.
New subscriber here! I loved the video and completely agree with everything you said. What I love about photography is that you are from Singapore and I am from America. But the language of photography and what photography really is for everyone. Everyone can understand it. Everyone can do it. It's important, it's magical, it's art, history and fun. Photography brings people together and I totally see that in you and your passion for the craft.
Wow, I love these Fujifilm videos. I shoot full-frame Sony, but I just bought a Fujifilm x100v, I think I am enthralled. Mindy, your video is fantastic.
Very nice video and I like your style. I was set on gettin the XT3 but now I'm looking real hard at the XPRO3. Thank you for sharing your awesome video with us. Have a nice day Mindy.
"It is capturing a slice of life by stopping time [and] putting that time into an image. That act itself is sacred." So inspiring! You can tell you used to be a journalist in how eloquent and beautiful you verbally express yourself. That gift is translated in your images as well. Thank you Mindy!
I'm using Panasonic for photo/Videography, but your works are so vivid, so full of life i fell in love with Fujifilm... Yet i think it's not the camera that makes the difference but the person behind it.
thank you for this documentary series. so many important real life lesson that i can learn from you as photographer. i bet other photographers will feel the same too. really wish that i can attend your photo workshop/talk, been a fan of your work since i watched your X-E3 review videos.
Totally agree in immersing yourself into the situation when shooting, from the experience it usually yields more emotionally connected images. I do prefer shooting with LCD screen, keeps me more connected with the model and the surroundings. Noticed that if i'm not really in a good mood I should rather not go out and shoot streets, it's exactly what you said- your vibe attracts the tribe. Hi from London :)
Oh I am so happy to see another Fuji street photographer! Having just raided your Instagram I love how you look at photography and the stories you tell. Beautiful work Mindy, thanks for sharing
Incredible photos, and I love the way you speak about your process and ideology too. You've made me cave in and purchase the X-Pro3. Subscribing right now.
Great stuff! I am no where close to your level of skill and success, but I do have opinions lol! I like doing people photography, and I feel shooting with the view finder takes me out of the conversation and my surrounding. Rather than hiding my face behind my camera, I use the LCD and keep talking and interacting. Seems to put my subjects at ease. With the invention of mirrorless cameras I find myself using the view finder lesser everyday. Thanks for the video.
Brilliant Fuji film X-Pro 3 Trailer ! "How much larger is the evf/ovf of the Fujifilm XPro 3 in comparison with my old X100T? is it considerable larger or just a little improvement?. I love the look of this new Fuji film camera! Mindy, I wear spectacles and was just wondering if it is better viewing experience using the evf/ovf ? Thank you Mindy! Great video!
Really good video, you've clearly got the chops for documentary photography. If you make zines and books as well I wouldn't mind taking a look. I also wouldn't mind seeing more of these videos with the X-Pro3, they're quite educational. Oh, and here's hoping the X-Pro3 OVF is a big step up from the X-Pro2 as I do love my X-Pro2, but find the optical viewfinder a little too small and dim. Thankee!
Hi Peter, there are 9 episodes, 3 of them using the X-Pro3, I do think the OVF is a step up, but you'll have to try that for yourself. Zines/ books, maybe soon
I'm hoping soon to buy a fugi. They sort of remind me of my 1st Minolta SLR which I got in 1969. Makes me feel like a photographer again. I'm considering the xpro3 and the xt4.
That whitish color I see in every X Pro 3 videos is editing or natural aspect of the camera? I know nothing about cameras, but I really love that look and wanna buy a camera that provides me that feeling.
👍🏻👍🏻Nice finally finally a video/commercial which is actually informative... with really nice shots in between. I am really tired of those pretentious x-photographers with their slow/mo videos and taking themselves too seriously.... you know... those cliche shots from the back of the photographer walking in slow mo and trying to look cool with the sexy xpro...boring 😂
Damn, that was such a refreshing take on camera reviewing. Love the fact that you're focusing (pun intended) more on the feeling this camera gives to you as a photographer ("We're going back to the days when a camera is a camera" is a perfect punchline that makes me want to buy it, even though I've already got aX-T20, X-H1, and X-T3), and not just the technical side of gear itself, all the while giving us a great insight on Singapore's daily life, as a street photographer should. It seems to me that this entire youtube video is the logical continuation of your street photography, to help make people see how daily life can be beautiful if framed well. Great job ! I'm gonna follow your adventures, from now on.
Hi Mindy. I’m enjoying these videos , I have not seen any others like this that’s done in partnership with the camera company ! One question I notice that you’re a left-eye shooter , how does the xpro3’s viewfinder position affect this (vs xt3 for example which is centrally positioned viewfinder)? Does it make you tilt more and have to compensate ?
Wonderful video. I loved your point about with range finder view the subject can still see 1/2 of your face! Wish the xpro3 had a LCD like on the x100v. I don't like that "fold down" screen.
Stumbled upon your video by accident, love this documentary style approach, it's very refreshing. Do you always bring multiple cameras with different lens to shoot?
Great vid and love the content... But anyone else notice she made the point about being able to have half your face exposed to the subject but in all the clips of get using the camera she's left eyed?
Anyone else notice that the high refresh rate on the EVF only works if you have the shutter button down? I have BOOST on. That doesn't happen on either my H1 or T2. Did I just get a bad one? If not, KEEP YOUR PRO2.
About the LCD you said ... "By having a screen like that it actually forces us to close it and say that we have tolook throught the viewfinder..." But ... do you need someone to force you to do what they think is right, or do you prefer to have the tools available (LCD) and decide what to do as and when you want?
6:19 In the western countries it's quite the opposite though. If you look all happy and smiley, people will be looking strange at you. If you look grumpy and sad, they will ignore you, because you are just like them, grumpy and sad... Great video, though. I like your photos and the colors/editing very much. Keep it up :D
Continue watching Episode 2 here! : ua-cam.com/video/BxmfYnW2EvI/v-deo.html
You have a new subscriber.
I have a question: do you miss an image stabalisator on the Pro 3?
Every beginner photographer should watch this video. Focuses on the purpose and passion of photography, and equipment is just a side note. Love it!
Hands down one of the best X-Pro3 videos so far. Great thoughts on street shooting and not just more blah about the gear.
Thank you Jeff
Jeff Harris go watch her video documentary on female tattoo artists in Korea and Japan, it is amazingly well made for someone so young.

This is probably the best video I've seen promoting the X-Pro 3 so far. Excellent.
best thing I've heard so far, thank you!
“We’re going back to the days when a camera is a camera.” Perfect, Mindy! We can refashion our relationship with the art of technology. Thank you for that thought!
it's my pleasure
I guess she never heard about the Leica M system.

Your photos made me smile!! Mindy is my favourite Photographer based in Singapore AHAHAHA...Always thought Singapore is a boring place to shoot street photography but now I’m changing my mind after these videos
A super nice video with a super nice person and a very skilled photographer. Well done Mindy and team!
Jonas you are too kind, looks like I wont Aarhus soon, you'll have to bring me that burger man.
Jonas Rask my thoughts exactly

Haha, I like old - school
Your attitude and demeanour really inspire me to just go out, smile and shoot!
I just watched the video for the first time, it's really cool, the shots are amazing
"you only have one frame, and that one frame has to tell a story"
Perfect encapsulation of what photography is. Well put, Mindy Tan.
Really enjoyable video. Looking forward to the rest of the series. Loved seeing your interaction with the Chess players. As a regular visitor I’ve found it difficult to not appear to be intrusive if I’m taking photos round there. Great work.
Hi Paul, just go slowly, and leave if you feel animosity
Extremely compelling video about your love and practice of photography!
This is just delightful to see you photographing every day life and how you connect to people around. This is indeed inspiring!
As a Fuji-X shooter, this is so inspiring. Thank you, Mindy!
Hi Mindy Tan, I don't care what camera you are using, just feel happy you enjoy photography. Love your works. Wish you success...
Okay I want episode 2 like now please. This was amazing and showed my favorite part of street photography which is getting to interact with and meet new people and you are amazing at this!

Great video! Most valuable advice, in my opinion, is at @6:16! Also, so wonderfully refreshing seeing a review from a female photographer!

Beautiful pictures and story
I love this!
I just bought my first camera (a second hand fuji) and the first place i went to was - Chinatown in Singapore!
Love this video! So well done
Wow Mindy! Great introduction of your work! Thanks!
This is my 2nd video of yours, and I appreciate the way you give out/explain what you are trying to accomplish
Fantastic insights. So glad I found your channel.

you are an amazing photographer!
I like your work and your thoughts.

thanks for sharing! Im so glad i switched to the fuji system from Nikon

well, not just larger but also brighter , with a wider colour spectrum. If you are going for the largest n best EVF, if I'm not wrong, get the X-T3

Mindy, wonderful photos and interesting video.

Well done! I still love my Xpro1:)
Sorry maybe out of topic, may I know what camera bag you use? Looks pretty discrete & comfy for daily, thanks

Keep Calm Fuji sponsored photographers need to justify it in anyway they can.
