When I read the title of this session, the whole do you think you are, hit me with shame. When my mother would ask,”Who do you think you are?” It was meant to be a put down. Insinuating I thought I was better than everyone, which was as far from the truth as you could get. She found so many ways to make me feel damaged and insignificant. Lots to heal from. You are a wonderful example of the healing process.
I'm sorry you had to endure all that pain. Your comment resonated with me because when I asked my father questions as a child, he frequently replied "What do you want....in the depths of your ignorance?" 😢 As an adult, my brothers told me to dismiss that saying, trying to reassure me by saying he was copying it from an old movie. Still hurts & makes me wonder if that was one drop in the insecurity bucket that I am trying to dump out, very eager to fill with with something true...but I still struggle to understand what that even means. ❤

Years ago there was a TV program starring the beautiful Loretta Young. One of her shows was entitled, “Who are You?” This was a narrative, story show…each was unique. But this one had all of us talking about what we would answer. Loretta was a fine morally upright woman, and I recall her “right” answer was, “I am a child of God.” We were Catholic private school girls who agreed that was an admirable answer. I think I am ever becoming who I am. At 82 years of age!!!??? A quote…Within me there’s a crowd..one who’s humble one who’s proud..One repentant for her sins..another, impish sits and grins! As you spoke Dr., I studied your face.Do you see what I see? May God’s very best blessings be with you always. Angela
Thank you for sharing your reflections, Angela! It's beautiful to hear how Loretta Young's message resonates with you and continues to inspire your journey of self-discovery.
I am stuck in the trauma response and dont know how to go on. I feel so depressed and hopeless and cry all the time. I am alone and dont know if i will ever recover now at 61😢
I'm so sorry you're going through this. Please know that you are not alone, and it's never too late to heal. Trauma is so hard, but taking small steps every day can help. Be gentle with yourself, and reach out to others, even if it feels difficult. There are people who care about you, and you deserve support. Healing takes time, but you have the strength to get through this. Please don’t give up. You matter, and your life is valuable. Sending you love and hope. 💖
I was where you are a year ago. I am now completely dissociated and also stuck. I am ur age. I work what I have to and tend my animals and that's all....... I want to engage with people and enjoy life,, but I just CAN'T...I can't make myself do anything except basic care.....STUCK
As someone also stuck...I focus on what I DO.....no matter how small... I got out of bed... I fed my animals I put laundry in the washer..... Those are my accomplishments so far......its 2pm, I haven't eaten, dressed or showered yet....maybe I will or maybe not......
Why go political?? No need to, unless less you want to influence people the wrong way. You are exactly whet you are mention. You know better! So disappointed of your ignorance!
Turn down sound on all screen faces and see what he is talking about. Remember the Gabor's proving that wounds from early life impact on our adult life SO we all can act like children until we identify our wound/trauma and we all have felt trauma❤
