In Michigan, my husband's grandfather planted 2000 blueberry bushes 40 years ago. My husband was 17 years old at the time. All Blue Ray and Blue Crop. You can't even imagine how huge they are now. They are 100% organically grown, with pruning, fertilizer and mulch every year. My husband worked hard to run irrigation, but after a few years it was no longer needed. Later, grandfather bought a bunch of plants called Dukes. They are not as tall, they are large and beautiful, but I absolutely think they are a bland flavor. Good luck.
Thank you so much for sharing your experience with blueberries. We are excited by the all the possibilities and work that will need to be done. We tried blueberries a very long time ago but failed because of a bad location and very poor soil. So hopeful this time it works. Thank you for watching.
Will be interesting to see how they grow. I have visions of you picking on a ladder from the lower terrace / rope and harness setup (rather than falling off the edge of the wall) when the bushes are 5ft tall with similar spread.
Boy, I hope these blueberry shrubs are big and productive. A little nervous of ropes and harnesses so we will have to stay on top of our pruning. Thank you so much for watching and following our journey.
