      It is normal for families to have such concerns. But mature workers knows the ways to look after themselves.
      For example, they might have a routine of going to toilet early morning before the shift start. And they will know where the good public toilets are.
      Working without the financial pressure on their shoulders is one of the most delightful, empowering experience they can have. Sitting in the car for long hours is not a good thing, but daily walks or swims can keep them fit.
      I am happy for them, you should too.
      Don't worry, that much.

I still remember this moment. I wish taxi drivers in Singapore all the best, they taught me so much about living in Singapore, they are honest and hardworking people. But accidents can still come if due to old age their reaction is slower or other health problems can cause loss of focus even if eye is no issue . But many are too poor to meet the retirement sum and may have no choice but to risk their lives on the road even at such old age. One can find a good excuse for them to work like this : no so bored and can earn money. But if they can afford retirement they would not need to do this risky job and instead maybe volunteer to help society or religions. So, their excuse to continue to work at old age is more about face saving than beating boredom which there are plenty of non working activities can achieve the same

      Its a pity workers have to work to 75 and retire. The social security network like CPF is not doing enough. The life span of an average citizen is around 75 years old.

    • @arrowstheorem1881
      @arrowstheorem1881 5 років тому +3

      @@teckhohng3870It's not just not doing enough. It's unfair to the tens of thousands who died before 75. Roughly 50% Singapore employees are Low Income Earners. This comes as a shock to many because many keep hearing the good news about Singapore and this gave them the perception that singaporeans are generally rich. 50% rich .50% poor. This is quite an achievement for such a small population.
      It's not that the low income have no money to retire . They have but it's HELD by cpf via the retirement sum policy. It's one size fits all. Impractical and unfair and inequitable. We need to seriously question the motive behind this. If you are rich, retirement is not an issue. With or without cpf, there is no issue for these. So the only people having issues are half the country. They have some money to retire on but it's on hold. Some continue to work to meet this amount and die before achieving it. What a meaningful life?
      The people chosen for no change. This is the Democratic decision.
