I met Jeff Rosenstock at a solo show at The Meatlocker in Montclair, NJ in 2011. He was drunk and so were we. I was wearing a custom BTMI! neck-tie, which he signed and called "impressive" I still have it. My friend Jesse flooded the venue that night when he pulled a pipe down off the ceiling by accident.
This is the best album in punk history. It's the building to so much over time. The virtuoso arrangement. The passion in the vocals. The pulling force against the listener to hang on every note. This is an absolute masterpiece. I have few regrets in life but not hearing this performed in its entirety is one of them. I would weep. I would be a changed human being.
This was my introduction to Jeff. My older brother found this CD in some bargain bin at Hot Topic in 2012. This was my summer album from middle school through high school. Played it nonstop in my parents' shitty old van wherever I went in the summer. Was also my go to for the bus rides after marching band shows. One of those albums that was such a part of your life that it can kinda be hard to go back and listen to it. Feels like being a voyeur to some better time in your life. Or something melodramatic like that.
One of my best memories of being a teenager was driving to London, Ontario with some friends right after school to see these guys play in someone's basement. It was right when this record came out. One of the best shows I've ever been too, so special.
I've been listening to this Jewish, drifter, man-baby for the past decade since I was 14, and I probably won't stop.. Here comes 25
You still feel like you're 10?
