Wow I had no idea Quake could be the perfect Halloween game. This was also the perfect Halloween video. Five pumpkins and a big jack o’ lantern smile on my face
I’ve always been so fascinated in the modding scene for these classic games. It looks like a lot of fun. I really need to start watching some tutorials so I can try it myself
I think games from this era (Quake, Half-Life, etc.) are the sweet spot for mods. Quake maps/mods are super easy to get into, I'd recommend looking into Ironwail. It's simple to set up, runs very well, even has an in-game menu for downloading and installing maps/mods with one click. It's great.
Awesome video! It’s always nice seeing new people enjoying Quake and it’s vast community mod scene. If ya want suggestions, I’d say Alkaline is one of the top-mods right now, similar to Arcane Dimensions but with a more futuristic setting with ties to the Rubicon series of Quake mods. And as a little plug, recently the Quake Remix Jam came out, where I and a handful of other creators remade iconic multiplayer maps as singleplayer Quake maps.
thank you! yeah, playing Quake for the first time last year was a revelation for me, I think it's become my favorite fps of all time lol. thanks for the suggestions, I haven't heard of alkaline! and yes, I just started up the remix jam the other day, it's excellent!
good job on the video mate! I love the idea of taking a look through various themed quake jams. I love these games but don't often feel compelled to putz with modding save for a few standouts here and there, so a video like this is a rad way to still check out what the community is up to without file-diving
Nice video, well edited and very fun walkthrough of the maps. If I had to recommend some Halloween themed maps, I would say: "Twisted Strings" by Bloodshoot from the Func Map Jam X - Insomnia Theme Jam "The Dead Room" by PalmliX from the Sinister 625 Map Pack "Oblivion" by Artistical from Halloween Jam 2 Jam Those 3 maps are, in my opinion, the best of Quake's atmosphere and my main inspiration for my submission to Twisted Christmas Jam which is a map pack with a mix of Halloween and Christmas, highly recommendable.
Thanks, glad you enjoyed it! I actually did try Oblivion, but I think I probably gave up on it too early. I'll definitely go back and try those and give Oblivion another shot. Thanks for the recommendations! And yeah, I'm super excited to try the Christmas Jams. I'd love to do another video like this about those as well.
Don't know if anyone recommended this yet, but Rubicon series (especially Rubicon Rumble Pack) contains some fantastic techbase levels (also April Fool's jams, these are really good)
I love quake but I haven't taken the time to dive into community maps for single player, only in multiplayer have I done that. thank you for the push. Very cozy video
I just discovered this man’s channel, and right now, I’m wondering what he thinks of Doom 64… Perhaps he has Doom content on this channel, maybe not, I shall see
Leather Daddy™ should be a feature in all Quake maps.
