Even in 2020, those opening riffs still give me chills to this day. SWAMP ROCK at its best. This song is still fresh, even without the modern tech. they have today. A great classic that will live on forever.
Pfff todays music is covering existing samples and tunes, but in a depressing low frequency. A classic song under a trap beat, autotune & singin like you're committing suicide; that's >2020 summarized.
I became a CCR fan in 1970. My dad died in 67 and my mom married my step dad in 1970. I was 13 and really hard on the poor guy. He was actually a real good man but we didn't talk much. Well the one thing we shared was music. He was from Lodi and the son of share croppers. He grew up dirt poor but knew his music.. CCR was formed 10 miles from his birthplace and he knew John and Tom Fogerty when they were kids. He turned out to be a good "dad" and CCR and bayou and blues music was our bond. I'm 60 now and he's been dead 14 years, but whenever this old man hears CCR I think of my step dad, a real Man...
Thats a great story but Lodi, Ca. is wine country, near Napa Valley. You must be confused with Lodi, MS. Lodi, Ca is also 75 miles from the Fogerty’s hometown of El Cerritos, CA.
Back in school, our k6th grade schools talent contest had one of my class mates and his older senior high school brother perform this song and other CCR songs on stage. My class mate played the drums and his older brother had vocals and guitar. They were great and l new from then on ' that "Credence Clearwater" was going to be one of my favorite bands. total bad ass tunes when l was growing up in 1970🔧👍😎
This song has such a groove. I always loved CCR, this is one of my fav's. I saw John do this live in Vancouver about 10 years ago. I met him after the show, shook hands and got his autograph. I still got the 'T' shirt.
I saw him also in Vancouver. He was the opening act for John Mellencamp. By the time Mellencamp appeared, I was tired by then. Lol. John Fogerty can work up his set.
I was a CCR fan the first time I heard them. I seen them live in 1970, it was great concert. I seen John Fogerty again in 2018 with ZZ Top, fantastic concert.
I remember, the 1st time I heard this piece. Immeadiatly, right hand reaches out blasted it. Did not care who was around I could not miss it. Was leaving Costco😂. Had to wait for song to come on radio. Was so intrigued, the voice was do familiar, the song itself was/is so nostalgic, yet modern...
im only 15 and I grew up listening to CCR and I still do I wish these new singers knew what good music is all I listen to is old school music like this
Was about 6 years old listening to this being played on a cantina jukebox, didn't know what he was saying but like it anyways, here I am fifty-something years and thousands of miles away later reading what the song says.
+stephen dwyer Um ya. I said change ups not change backs. Thanks for the attempted education! LOL You know more than The Beatles did about music! You are a guru for sure.
I first started listening to CCR when I was a child and was a fan for life! I got their greatest hits cd! I love their remake of Tina Turner's Proud Mary, one of her big hits. Anything CCR ILL BE JAMMING TOO IT FOR LIFE!🎸🎙🙏🏻❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️🎼🎼🎼🎼🎼
I really was born on the bayou in Reggio Louisiana. My grandfather was a trapper in the swamps of Louisiana. Not much left to it anymore. This song makes me think of those lazy days on that bayou. I don't think we will ever see those days again.
Génial CCR, on n'en fait plus des groupes comme ça, jai connue CCR debut des 80s, au retour de mon frere des USA, j'avais 10 ans, merveilleux souvenirs avec les K7 audio de l'epoque :)
What a music! When I heard the first time CCR, I was 7 y.o. I did not understand a single word of the English but this music sounded so good to me. It was 1972. I have the full collection of CCR.
Luv that, luv CCR..Used to work for the New Orleans Steamboat Company. I sold Miss Tina Turner her first ticket to ride a steamboat back in the early '80's. Luv her, but always luved CCR's version best of course! They got the pace of the Mississippi River and the paddlewheel..and INdeed, "the people on the river are happy to give." "Big wheel keep on turnin'". Shout out to my Captains and Crew, and all y'all!
My dad use to dance with CCR, eagles, journey, Janis Joplin, and many more. My dad would party with me and my girlfriend at the bar. He loved dancing with girls and getting all the attention. He was great dancer. He's been gone since 2006. I miss are talks and setting back listening to his kind of music. Love and miss you. RIP
Eddie Johns crazy to think he isn't from anywhere near the south yet he just totally gets our way of life and type of backbeat boogie blues rock. One of the only people to come out of Kalifornia I admire.
thanks Denise, all of that sounds right up my alley! my girl has family in Missouri, & from there it can't be far(not on a "fast freight train!):):) best wishes!!
+the rejects -actually 'cajun' is slang for 'acadian' which is part of nova scotia in canada-when england defeated france -many french were given an option go or stay some french moved to louisiana hence calling themselves 'acadians' or the slang 'cajuns'..
I started hearing the Swamp music with my bro Napoleon (Nap for short). We would drive down the freeway just singing our hearts out. It's been so hard for me I lost him 6 Months ago...I miss him so much 😢 I love you bro ❤ RIP. Always with me.

I remember those days, when I got married with my actual wife and we danced these songs in our wedding.

I don't know what the fuck change ups and back beats are, but if they are in this song you are right.

Old school. Never gets old.
If it wasn't for my father i wouldn't of known who this band was.... thanks dad.. R.I.P
love the vocals
The amazing thing is the fact that they are not Southern but they capture the vibe so well.
Gosh, I wish we still made music like this.
Nah, then this wouldn't be special as it is...
Today's music is throwaway junk. Nobody will remember it 10 years from now. Classic is classic because it will always be great, timeless.
Simply perfection!!
What a music! When I heard the first time CCR, I was 7 y.o. I did not understand a single word of the English but this music sounded so good to me. It was 1972.

He was great dancer. He's been gone since 2006. I miss are talks and setting back listening to his kind of music. Love and miss you. RIP
En Colombia los conocí por down on the corner, y me enganche con esta maravillosa banda, larga vida a Jhon Foguerty.
