He can make the hall if you want to value special teams and talk about him as one of the great returners. He is 5th in all-time all-purpose yards. Furthmore, Sproles is the only player in NFL history to collect at least 30 touchdowns receiving, at least 20 rushing and with at least one punt return and kickoff return TD. Only player in NFL history to amass 10,000 return yards (11,313) and 8,000 scrimmage yards (8,392). Not to mention he has his ring.
I still remember when he got 200+ all-purpose yards against the Broncos to get us in the playoffs. Love you Darren, you're always welcome in San Diego!
Darren Sproles and Maurice Jones-Drew are special players. These guys were smaller than what you'd want in an NFL running back, and they still managed to thrive in the league. They proved that even if you're undersized, you can still make it if you're willing to put in the work.
@@napalmblaziken you took my comment to literal. I was joking at the fact that they still had the athleticism/talent to make it. Hardwork is great, but its nothing if you're not incredibly athletic/talented as a undersized athlete.
Good running teams know you need the between the tackles guy and the outside guy. Running back and receiving back. His presence on the field as a rusher or a decoy were always felt.
I remember seeing him for the first time when I was young. My dad was super confused watching him since he was so small and running over his team. Later on he was walking in the dark and saw me and got scared since he though I was Sproles LOL - that little guy gave people nightmares
Even as a giants fan I kinda look up to him as an inspiration, we’re both pretty short and I have aspirations to play football like him and Wes walker and other historical short players.
MJD dont forget MJD Dude wanted to prove his own team wrong because he was their 2nd pick not first (Granted Marcedes Lewis was like MJD really good but I'd flip the two with hindsight)
Sproles was a great player but the nfl and football has always had a few shorter guys who can make plays it’s definitely a stretch to say that Sproles removed a stereotype or prejudice and paved the way for others. Anybody can watch some Barry Sanders highlights and recognize that small agile guys can and always have been dynamic at whatever level of football
I agree with all you said especially because he was a 4th rounder the only part I disagree with is that he paved the way for MJD MJD was only a year after, and D Sproles had a very uneventful rookie year, wasnt until 2007 the D Sproles had a big impact outside special teams MJD I think helped D Sproles more then the other way around because MJD had a good rookie year 1300 yards 15 touchdowns all purpose

HOF for sure, the spudd webb of the NFL
Hall of fame

I'm a short guy and thats y darren sproles is one of my faviorte players hes a goat
Same
He’s been in the league as long as I’ve been intentionally paying attention to football. Crazy to see him retire.
Plus, Darren holds the record for all purpose yards in a season !

Yeah... and you know run a 4.3 40 too. There's a reason they made it, speed kills.
@@SomeGuyo Speed means nothing if you have bad vision, are fumble prone, injury prone, or not elusive. Those are concerns with undersized players.

@@SomeGuyo Apologies. Some things sadly don't translate well over the internet.
Still my favorite player, always has been
One of my favorite players, overcame so much in his life, he’s the definition of no excuses and hard work. Respect.
Yes!
I think he'll be in the HOF revolutionizing the game and position

Barry Sanders was only 5’8 I know that’s considered average height worldwide but I’d argue if anybody paved the way it was him.
I remember seeing him for the first time when I was young. My dad was super confused watching him since he was so small and running over his team. Later on he was walking in the dark and saw me and got scared since he though I was Sproles LOL - that little guy gave people nightmares
Word of Caution: Don’t be so statistical. Great video overall.
Love you stuff man. Keep up the content. It's really great stuff.
Josh Whitehead awesome stuff
Can’t get enough of his stuff

Yea but he was a genetic FREAK at that height and he most definitely was one of the best best RBs he was dangerous
Barry Sanders was also 5ft8

Jack of all trades
Not a hall of fame but he was amazing
To bad Trindon Holliday didn't have as much success in the league. Dude was even shorter
LuiBlink he did have that one 2 return TD game in the playoffs
@@andrewlarson7 True. But he was only in the league for six seasons with five different teams
1st
Darren sproles is a scat back. There’s nothing revolutionary about him.
He had performances that single handily change the game. Go to his 2008 season and see his walkoff KR TD against the Colts.
all purpose yards dummy 😑
