Now you must react to another Jeremy Clarkson video, the follow up "The greatest raid of all". Your posts get better with each one if that's possible. Jeremy Clarkson did "Top Gear" which was pretty big in the states, I'm surprised you don't know him.
@@fossy4321 thank you man! And that documentary Fasholy coming!
Bro you need to do one about the british battle of Rorks drift in africa where a handfull of soldiers held off wave after wave of 1000s of tribal warriors for days
Since this video there's been 4 British Soldiers have received the VC in Iraq and Afghanistan, also 4 Australians and 1 New Zealander.
Thank you for the respectful handling of the subject. I guarantee that every Brit watching appreciates it.👍
💪🏾 nothing but respect for my countries closest Allies
True story
One VC winner you may like to check on is Charles Upham, a New Zealander who was the only combatant to ever win two Victoria Crosses. He was, like nearly all of New Zealand military in WW 2 a citizen soldier who was commissioned from the ranks.
Great work 👏 love your energy 👏 god bless from over the pond
Some how dispite the extremely high criteria for the VC Charles Upham a New Zealander was awarded a 2nd VC in WWII, 1st in Crete in 1941 and the 2nd for in North Africa in 1942. A statue in his honour was erected after his death in the town near where he lived after the War, 20 minutes from where I live.
Brilliant thanks for showing it
that is one of the best documentary of WW2, thanks for showing it
Great reaction, subscribed!
Johnson Beharry - Prince of Wales Royal regiment - IRAQ 2004, Bryan Budd - Parachute regiment - Afghanistan 2006, James Ashworth - Grenadier Gaurds - Afghanistan 2012, Joshua Leakey - Parachute regiment 2013. The greatest raid is another great documentary by Jeremy Clarkson you'd love dude, enjoying the content and you as a person so far. Keep it up my man.
Thank you man 🙏🏾 sick name btw
@@DezzReacts you will love the story of "The Greatest Raid" also narrated by Jeremy Clarkson
The greatest raid is incredible 👍
There was an Australian or New Zealand SAS Corpral awarded the VC for service in Afghanistan as well, his name escapes me.
And the Unit for Beharry's VC in Basrah 2004 was called the Princess of Wales' Royal Regiment (PWRR).
And the greatest raid is awesome! He'll love it if he loved this one so much.
@@mrh678 Cpl Willie Apiata, His Award ceremony is on YT and he looked more scared of the TV Cameras than he was of the Taliban, A Truly Humble Warrior!!
Your respect for not just American soldiers but all soldiers amazes myself, just watched about the incredible stories off British bravest soldiers in Arnhem. Where would we be without them 🎉
Its less than 24hrs since I came across your channel, and I'm very impressed. Along with excellent content, I really, really like that you don't constantly interrupt the videos that you are watching. Far to many youtubers do so, to the point where it becomes almost unwatchable. When you do comment, it is always with an intelligent, pertinent and thought provoking observation. Great stuff..... I've subscribed!
Thank you!! 😇
The most wonderful thing about the VC (and the GC) for me is that while there is no official requirement that appears in the official warrant of the VC, nor in Queen's Regulations and Orders, for all ranks to salute medal winners, tradition dictates that this occurs and, consequently, senior officers will salute a private awarded a VC or GC. ❤️🇬🇧
Famous radio message from the North end of the Bridge before the Surrender, simply "Out of ammuniton, God save the King".
We have 12 VC winners, who were born in Leeds or lived here. My favourite is Flt Sergeant Arthur Louis Aaron, a 21 year old Pilot. On a bombing mission in Italy his plane was badly damaged by fighter fire. He had crew dead and others seriously injured, while he had his lower face torn off, jaw broken, shrapnel in his lungs and a severe arm injury. Despite his wounds Aaron managed to get his men home, then died of exhaustion hours later. He also had a DFM due him from another mission, but died before he could receive it. We have a statue of him, interestingly, he was one of three British Jewish service men to win a VC. In Leeds, next to the cenotaph, we have a plaque, listing all 12 of the brave men from our area who won a VC, many like Flt Sergeant Aaron, posthumously.
You are totally correct! He disabled it, not killed it! Was a Machine!
Look up Jack Cornwall who served in the Royal Navy and won the VC at the age of just sixteen during the first world war..
Thanks for taking an interest in a very small part of British history
I know of two VCs which were recommended by the Germans. One was during Operation Chariot, the St Nazaire raid, where British troops were present. The other was a bomber pilot who's recommendation came from the survivors of the U Boat his plane sank - there were no RAF survivors.
If you liked Jeremy Clarkson, watch his documentary on the greatest commando raid ever.
That’s a “must watch” documentary :)
Greatest commando raid ever is an amazing story! you should defo react to it! love your content bro! much love from the UK
Another belta documentary
Comment on the St Nazaire raid by the commandos .."Operation Chariot." (The greatest raid of all) 1942 ua-cam.com/video/07Zd0Oy8JyQ/v-deo.html
It's great video
I'm very impressed you take such an interest in anything British. Thank you !
As a former British soldier you're obvious respect and empathy for these guys is what made me subscribe to your channel. Greetings and respect from across the pond mucker👍🏻
My grandfather was meant to be apart of operation market garden, but he caught phnomonia and was too sick to participate.
He's the only survivor of his platoon
Johnson Beharry won a VC in 2004 for saving his comrades under fire twice in Iraq. He ended up in a coma but was reasonably OK in the end.
Joshua Leakey won a VC in 2013 when in Afghanistan.
You missed one:
LCpl James Ashworth was awarded a posthumous VC in 2013 for his actions in Afghanistan.
Cpl. Bryan Budd also won a VC in Afghanistan in 2006
Johnson Beharry has a Head so tough that the next generation of British Tank Armour ought to named in his Honour, Tank crews unofficial song then would be 'Don't worry, Beharry' :) His autobiography, The Barefoot Soldier is a brilliant read too!!
"The Greatest Raid of all Time " again with Jeremy Clarkson is just as good with lots of tension.
cant wait
I believe Bovington Tank Museum has the world's only operational WW2 era Tiger tank. It made an appearance in the 2014 war movie Fury. I wouldn't be surprised if it's the same one in this documentary.
Pure Will
From the highest Field marshall, to the lowest private, EVERYONE salutes the holder of the VC. Whatever his rank. A private soldier who has those 2 letters after his name, has earned the right to be saluted by the highest generals & field marshalls. And rightly so.
thanks for doing part two and it means a lot to us older guys to see young people taking interest is in what really matters
At the time of the battle, Robert Cain was 35 years old.
If you haven't already seen it, you have to watch _A Bridge Too Far,_ the 1977 film telling the story of the battle of Arnhem.
My German brothers were just doing what they were ordered to do. Same as us
Thank you for your respect regarding these wonderful brave men..much love to you from London 🇬🇧 🇺🇸
🙏🏾
I don't normally watch reaction channels but yours is one of the best. Good work Sir.
Seriously? 😱 bro you don’t know how much that means man much love 🫱🏾🫲🏻
@@DezzReacts You are welcome and I hope your channel hits all your targets.
Johnson Beharry's VC is explained in more detail in another brilliant documentary, "Victoria Cross Heroes" introduced by then Prince Charles. Well worth a watch
Hello. I've recently been to visit arnhem and its amazing. I believe only 1 VC recipient has been awarded since the Falklands.
Mark
Great video, watched a few of yours now, but please put a battery in that clock behind you as it shows the same time through a couple of videos
Glad you noticed that means u are watching 😂 help support the cause for new battery’s in the link to the pinned comment 🤣 u aren’t alone brother
When he said that he married the daughter of Robert Cain, that was a superb way to end the documentary. Adding that her father never thought to mention that fact was the icing on the cake.
Canada, Australia and New Zealand now award their own Victoria Cross, while keeping the same name as the British VC as they still maintain the values required to be awarded one.
Being a fellow Manx man this one always hits hard, but also makes me proud to be Manx
5”11? That geezer was a giant. Back in the day average height was way smaller so this dude probably was our equivalent of 6”8!
John Cruickshank (who was hit 72 times) had actually made sure the aircraft could be flown towards base by a 2nd pilot but refused morphine for the next 5 1/ hours of the flight home in case he had to retake command. It was after that when landing was near when he took over again flying another hour to land. That crazy autopsy still hasn't happened. He currently lives in Aberdeen and at 102 is the last living WW2 VC recipient.
Thats bananas 🍌
@@DezzReacts No.... it's an absolute miracle and should be the cause for much celebration! Thanks for the respect shown.
Rifleman Lachhiman Gurung was also only 4' 11"
Love the review. Nice to see people like Bob Cain being honoured and remembered. One of my favourite VC stories - since I live on the Isle of Man, and grew up in the 60's with these stories. Jeremey Clarkson is a national treasure - and the way he annoys certain types of people only makes him more popular. I have watched this many times, and still totally love the mic drop ending.
I spoke with an Arnhem veteran who told me how the SS saved his life by strapping him to a chair and carrying him to a medical station.
jeremy clarkson, did one more wartime video....its called "the greatest raid of all"....about royal navy, and british commandoes, destroying germanys greatest battleship Tirpitz's dry dock at st nazairre (france)...if you likes the VC video....this is even better!!
Remember that the Lee Enfield .303 rifle has a Right Handed Bolt!! So for Gurkha Gurung to fire it left handed is Truly beyond the call of Duty!!
I am ex RAF (1961 to 1990) and worked on 'V' bombers in the 1960's. Check out the video 'When Britain nuclear bombed America, twice.
Also check out the movie A BRIDGE TOO FAR. Tells the story well.
He was born 1909 so he was 35:when he won the V.C.
Brit Paratrooper in Afghanistan 2007? was the last one I know of.
Hi Dezz, Suggest doing a video on the NZ Warrior, Sir Charles Upham who won the VC Twice :)
Look the Battle of Rorkes Drift in Africa against the Zulus, British Soldiers received the Victoria Cross in that
Link it!
Look up how Prince Andrew saved ship fulls of sailors in the Falcklands war he did this many times.
You should see the Tiger Tanks in Hell let loose
Great video 👍🇬🇧 stay safe and enjoy the rest of your weekend

I'm sure loads of other people will say the same but jeremy clarkson the greatest raid of all is a must also liveth forevermore one man gurkha army
PROMISE YOU that vid will come
Yo Dez I'm not sure how I found ur channel as I am Irish (not British ), and mostly listen to things like Jordan Peterson/jocko podcast videos you have a good attitude and a willingness to learn about what (from what I've seen ) most Americans wouldn't care about
🙏🏽
There is a video on how Ghurkas are recruited in India. Good watch.
Nepal. Not India. India also takes Ghurka recruits - from the best of those who fail British selection.
You should watch “Theirs is the glory” it’s on UA-cam it’s about the battle of Arnhem and it’s filmed by the soldiers themselves one year after the battle so everything you see is actual battle damage and the tanks they knocked out. They were still serving in the army and was due to go flush the Germans out of Norway but decided to make a film for prosperity about what they experienced.
L/cpl Berharry of the princess of Wales Royal Regiment won it in Iraq (my old Regiment).
Thank you for sharing Dezz - this is my Great Uncle 🌟 his 3 brothers including my Granddad won the Military cross in WW2 and my Dad Thomas Cain Won the Military cross in Korea and went on to the SAS! My family are legends and should be remembered and recognized for there Valore against the dark/Nazi's who are the Biden's etc in the US and are behind Ukraine! The Nazi's have infiltrated the US after WW2. Alot of them involved at high levels in NASA, UN etc. Hope you read this at some point! I am doing a tribute to all service men and women, veterans my family next year! It will be 80 years for Arnhem and will be honouring Great Uncle Robert in Arnhem. Would be grateful of any help raising awareness and would like to raise funds for monument 🌟🙏 many thanks. John Cain
Loving your content mate.👍🏻👏🏻
🙏🏾 glad to hear that
My Cousin is married to an Army Ranger they met when he was posted to Middenhall. He said he hopes Biden never fucks up and costs the US the UK as allies he said because you boys are built different. Theres not many of you but you get the job done no matter what. Two stories he told me during the Iraq war 8 man patrol had to secure a checkpoint 8 vs 30 or 40 iraq guards no safe approaches after the brief the 4 British guys starting running towards the objective shouting over his shoulder come softbollocks lets get this done. The other store wounded soldier in a recon joint patrol ied explosion left one with a lot of shrapnel in is ass , he was saying the rangers there were all serious about the injury. We turn to hear one of the guys mates shout any last words and he said Yeah tell your mum shes was amazing. Thats the British forces for you even when it looks bad you keep going and we keep the banter going. Not mentioning it is actually common my step grandfather won the medal below the VC along with a few others in WW2 the only thing he ever said was your head tells you your brave the medal reminds you that you got lucky.
the greatest commando raid ever. PLEASE DO THSI NEXT!
U know it’s on the list
This is a great story. Talking about Afghanistan although he didn’t win a VC there’s a video called The Commando who refused to die. It’s about Paul Vice. It’s a great story well worth a watch.
Some of the jaw dropping stories of what these men endured are nearly unbelievable. To the level that if you made films about them, half the people watching would think it was exaggerated beyond reality.
Glad that you enjoyed this Dezz. Certainly check out Mad Jack, as well as the other heroes who were mentioned in chat. Individuals like Robert Blair "Paddy" Mayne. The animated shorts are great little introductions to them. But the story of how Robert Mayne got the SAS started is another one that no one would believe if you made it into a film
David Sterling was the Founder of the SAS, and recruited Paddy Mayne to join him. Mayne was in custody at the time for attacking a senior officer, so Sterling was got him released, in order to recruit him. Mayne took over as commander later in the war, because Sterling was in a POW camp.
@@jo.s7993 my sincerest apologies. I had a gniggling feeling I'd screwed something up there. Thank you for giving the correct information. But most certainly another hero for Dezz to get in to. Drop him a link or 2 if you've got some good vids
PVT JOHNSON BEHARRY VC 18 March 2005 Iraq , Corporal BRYAN BUDD VC 20 August 2006 Afghanistan (posthumus), Lance Corporal JAMES ASHWORTH VC 13 June 2012 Afghanistan (Posthumus), Colour Sgt JOSHUA LEAKEY VC, 22 August 2015 Afghanistan.
Great reaction please react to the greatest raid it’s brilliant 👍
HUMILITY IS A POSITIVE FORCE THAT KNOWS NO LIMITATIONS NOR BOUNDARIES.
Actually that used to be the British spirit....all gone unfortunately because there all cosseted and treated like babies ....I could cry 😢
Love ❤️ your cheeky attitude...you sure you not Scottish lol 😆 😜 😉 🤣
The German soldiers absolutely knew about the camps, everyone in Germany knew about them. Its possible they didnt know the extent as by this point they may have been deployed for a long time while the killing was ramped up but they would have known that there was camps specifically built for killing jews.
6''2 here
If you want information about Operation Market Garden check out the movie..... A Bridge Too Far.... well worth a watch.
I think there was Victoria Medals won in Afghanistan
This would be a good example of what men were wanted to make the British SAS, and why it's now so respected and feared.
The second world war had so many heroes. Just ordinary men who found themselves in extraordinary positions and were asked to do extraordinary things.
I often wonder just how those who survived managed to mentally deal with all they had seen and done in their lives afterwards.
Heroes one and all.
You never cheat death GOD looks after good men and women

UK didn’t fight in Vietnam, we sent advisers to you but Australia and New Zealand and South Korea fought with you in Vietnam not us , have a good day , Queen Victoria was Queen Elizabeth II Great Great Grandmother , good video my man
This incredibly brave and ferocious WARRIOR was basically a gentle and tender man, driven by the love for his comrades on the battlefield.
The greater strength of tenderness has been quietly playing the leading the leading role in the history of the human race. It was not by muscle or fang that the species, mankind, triumphed over a hostile environment, but by the quality of tenderness contained in our minds.
The merely tough became extinct while the tender paved the way for the human race.
The healthy husband is the gentle, considerate, tender male, his monogamy a tower of strength.
The real leaders in this world, the 'Alpha Males,' apply this principle to their fellow men and women. In normal circumstances you would NOT even notice the fortitude that lies deeply embedded in their hearts and minds. It is, indeed, pure love.❤
The phrase: "I love you man" ... had to come from somewhere, past down through the millennia of generations.
Bryan Budd, Parachute Regiment, 2006 in Afghanistan. He and his men were about to be overrun, so he fixed a bayonet, put his weapon in full-auto and charged, saving the position and the lives of his men. Sgt Budd was found dead alongside several of the Taliban he had killed.
Since the end of the Second World War, the original VC has been awarded fifteen times: four in the Korean War, one in the Indonesia-Malaysia confrontation in 1965, four to Australians in the Vietnam War, two during the Falklands War in 1982, one in the Iraq War in 2004, and three in the War in Afghanistan for actions in 2006, 2012 and 2013.
It ain't so much that. Of course in times of war more will be rewarded
Please watch Jeremy Clarkson the raid on st. Nazaire if you like this video this one is even better
There have been four Victoria Cross of Australia awarded to Australian servicemen in Afghanistan, Donaldson, Smith-Roberts, Keighran and Baird.
Also must not forget Willie Apiata the only Victoria Cross of New Zealand recipient from the afghanistan fighting
If you find these stories fascinating, you really should watch the history channel's Battle of Long Tan, which was Australia biggest engagement in Vietnam and a real life or death struggle

This is NOT a Personal attack on you Dezz or the USA, but it kind of makes a Mockery of your American Purple Heart Medal for just getting Wounded. VC Medalist deserve their Awards and I am NOT saying the American Purple Heart is worthless. Its just one of the differences that seperate the Courage of the VC Medalist and the Enlisted US Service Members who received the Purple Heart for getting wounded.
its called true grit
:56 That’s Keith Payne, Australian recipient of the British Victoria Cross.
My Great Grandfather Edgar Irwell Haworth, was in the Lancashire Fusiliers 5th Bn and was involved and injured at Gallipoli in WW1 in an amphibious attack known as 6 V.C.s before Breakfast, where he's Regiment won 6 Victoria Crosses in the attack against the Turkish Defender's..
Great twist at the end huh ?
😂🤯 absolutely did not expect that

I've now watched both CV ideos on this subject and am grateful for the content my father fou go hot in ww2 at times with the ghurcas my father told me he was a snippet and led the pack animals after one long night of patrol in the jungle he fell asleep exhausted when he awoke he found he'd been given a shave by a ghurca with his sword didn't even feel it wow respect to all our forefathers and mothers of course they had a tough war but thank the lord for their gallantry xx
There are 3 men that have two VCs 🤯
Lcpl Leaky was last recipient his great uncle in WW1 received one to 👍

It's a testament to people coming together cos we are ajl people

Why hasn’t Hollywood made a movie of this
This would be a HIT
They made A Bridge Too Far (1977) with a British anti-British director and basically stitched up the British characters as incompetant, and the American characters were trying to save the operation with some fictional narrative. There's many good stories like this one, but it didn't fit the narrative the filmmakers wanted to make.
Based on a scene-by-scene study I made a few years ago, the film's running time is 50% historically accurate, 40% altered or twisted in some way, and nearly 10% complete fiction. Compare that with Epsiodes 4 and 5 of Band of Brothers (2001), which also covered Market Garden, I would estimate those are roughly about 80% and 90% accurate respectively. Tom Hanks did a much better job, but it's a mostly American story in BoB.
You're joking right?!
They couldn't find a way to make the hero an American 🤷
Check out the furor over the movie "U-571" 🤨
if you want to really want to learn the truth about this battle you should watch a film called A bridge to far, i had the honour of knowing a hero who was just 17 when he was parachuted into Arnhem to capture the bridge, he was one of few who survived,it had such an impact on his life that when he died his body was flown to holland and buried in the war cemetary nxt to his best friend. He was given full military honours.
The 50,000 cornered at Dunkirk would of been exterminated if not for the idiot radical love Hitler had for Britain. He stated on bombings, "Churchill had bombed us daily for months, my people demanded a reply, I was under the impression Churchill had gone mad. We did not respond because we wanted to show by action we wanted peace" On this event of Dunkirk Hitler stated "I ordered my soldiers not to destroy the British, but to let them go free. We had them encircled. I had hoped the British would see the peace offer this was. Churchill wanted war. You wanted this war, now you shall have your war. Only one can survive. Your Empire will cease even if you win. But I know that Germany lives and Germany will be victorious"...
Turns out we had our enemies leader as our best friend at the time.
