Dear lord, you can tell that even at 80 years old and after nearly 40 years, he’s still haunted by the loss of the love of his life. I think that he and Dorothy were soulmates.
Now that he has passed away, they can be together again…in death.

Part of me thinks Peter and Louise married because they both were still suffering from grieving Dorothy's death and that grief brought them together. Singer/song writer Stevie Nicks did the same thing when her best friend died, she married her late friend's widow because they were blinded by their grief and it brought them together. Stevie's marriage didn't last...and neither did Peter and Louise's. Also they both suffered from not only survivor's guilt but both probably felt if they'd both done something different...if Louise had told others earlier where Dorothy went, if Peter hadn't told Hefner not to ban Paul Snider from the Playboy Mansion...maybe Dorothy would be alive today

None of these 3 guys; Peter, Hugh, or Paul had Dorothy’s interest in mind. Peter may have cared for her, but the simple fact is, he didn’t know her that long. They only dated 10 months. Dorothy didn’t understand that she didn’t need a man to define her. She was young, absolutely stunning to look at, and a gentle soul who was very close with her family. I’ve seen every documentary I could find. I’ve read and own Peters book, the Killing of the Unicorn….in many ways it comes across as a obsessive crush on a women only a man in his position could date. The fact is, he was 20 years older her, and began courting her when she was 19……and years later married her 20 year old sister…this is typical Hollywood bullshit.
Even if Dorothy had lived, there relationship wouldn’t have lasted. I don’t care how people think it appears…he was longing for something that got taken away from him…before it had a chance to sour…..and he harbored this “sorrow” for 4 decades, but they were in the honeymoon stage. This dude left his wife and kids for Cybill Sheppard so it’s not like he’s some Angel…he had a history of being a womanizer. I don’t buy it. I can understand why Dorothy was having the affair and looking for an escape, because Paul was an absolute shitbag…..but she was naive….and if Peter really have a shit, he should have waited for the smoke to clear. He lost all credibility when he married her sister Louise.
None of us should know who Dorothy Hoogstratten is…..she had no ambition to become famous…she was a family knit young girl who wanted to go to law school, and have kids. She had the looks for Hollywood but she didn’t have the personality for it. She was too gentle and trusting, and lacking her father, she was looking for male acceptance…enter Paul Snider. This story is an absolute tragedy, and the only person that matters in this is Dorothy.

I was 16 years old when Dorothy Stratten was murdered. It was terrible to read about it, and finding out the details afterwards. I saw the movie, “They All Laughed”, and loved it, but was struck with an awful sadness realizing what a tragedy it was that she was gone. I felt for Mr. Bogdanovich, and the soul searing pain he must have been experiencing over losing Dorothy. To have held such an incredibly beautiful person next to you that you know is your soul mate, only to have that taken away.........how he survived himself is a wonder. Listening to him talk about it 40 years later, you can feel his pain still there after all these years, still always with him. My heart goes out to you Mr. Bogdanovich. You may not ever read this, or care a wit about this narrative, but I wanted to let you know that. I believe Peter and Louise bonded as a result of the profound grief
they shared. That's why they grew so close and that lead to marriage.
Peter wanted to take care of Louise and Nelly for the rest of his life
and that's what he did. Even after they divorced Peter, Louise and
Nelly lived together. They were all very close and Nelly and Louise
doted on Peter when he was sick and his health was failing. I do not
think there was anything sick or twisted about their relationship, it was
a union of two shattered souls supporting each other after the most
horrific event in their life. If Louise or Nelly thought for one moment
that Peter was using Dorothy in any way they would have never had
anything to do with him. They knew more than anyone that Dorothy
truly loved Peter and he was deeply in love with her. I think they truly
were soul mates and Peter never fully recovered from her death.
May they both rest together in peace...

She was a very reluctant "playboy" model who never wanted to take her clothes off, but that pimp Snyder pressured and manipulated and coerced her into going where she cried the entire time. EVEN THE PLAYBOY PHOTOGRAPHERS attest to this.
Hugh Hefner the disgusting malicious slob was losing his grip on his cash cow and helped get that poor kid killed!

It's a shame that 40 years later, Peter still thinks that he and Dorothy were destined to move to the country and raise a family. Please. Their relationship would've "petered" out within months had she lived. Dorothy was 20 years old and wasn't about to go from one obsessive, controlling husband to another. Once again Peter can't tell the difference between a steamy set romance and an actual loving relationship.

Hey folks, you know there’s a backstory here he took care of Dorothy‘s family for the rest of his life. He bought Louise a car on our 16th birthday made sure she went to the best schools whatever the situation living situation was they live together for the rest of their lives, or peters life, even though Louise and him got married, I think maybe it was just a connection because they were both grieving Louise little half sister excuse me Dorothy‘s little half sister Louise they had the same mother different fathers but they live together. Luca Lake and Peter just died and he said we Dorothy was going to be my family, so why wouldn’t I take care of my family was if I married Dorothy these would be my family so you know you can’t fault, but I don’t think he should’ve wrote that book the killing of the unicorn. It was not her fault he did not abused Dorothy in fact, he tried to help her out. He told her not to marry that disgusting Paul Snyder , he said please Dorothy don’t get her money he got her money manager to take the when she won all those prizes in Playboy she got a $65,000 Russian sable coat at $26,000 jaguar. This is a 1980 she got a check for $25,000 and this huge bathtub that fit like 13 people And all the money she made just wanted to take everything and sell it. She drove an old mercury cougar I’m not sure what what year it was the 1968 or something car and it said Galaxina on the license plate but the money she earned Paul bought himself a Mercedes with the money she earned. He drove the nice car , it said star 80 on it. I just wish she would’ve gone over there to talk to Paul and she should’ve had it done all the lawyers. She told her little sister Louise that morning I’m gonna go over there and take care of some business and when I get back, we’ll go to the beach, but don’t tell Peter where I’m going , she was like 11 at the time Dorothy was 20 I think they’re like 10 years apart. I just wish that she would’ve done it all through her the lawyers and some nut gave Paul a gun. What guy do you get give a gun to a guy that’s unhinged just losing his wife , he felt that he owned her that she she she he knows got her set up with some photos for Playboy yes but it was up to her to get the job so he felt like she owed me and I want my half she use a Mossberg shotgun. My sister knew some people who worked in LA PD then And said it was horrific he shot her and it’s very it’s like a pumpkin exploding not to be gross she walked in. They found her purse on the steps with $1100 in cash and she should’ve come through all the lawyers. She was just so naïve and thought no way this guy gonna hurt me And I asked my psychiatrist you know why would somebody shooting someone in the faces to wait a obliterate them so no one will ever think you know that that’s a personal thing to destroy their face. The tip of her fingernail was shot off for putting her hand up and he had sex with her dead body and I won’t go into detail, but he raped her in every way I’ll just leave it at that for about an hour they found blood on her but this is just what I read tape was stuck in her hair where he tied her to this bondage chair he made that he was going to sell, but didn’t sell because he was always trying to get rich. It was that house on Clarkson Road the downstairs bedroom I read the whole report. I ran to the bathroom and vomited when I read it . I just wish that she went there because I knew that’s where she was going. He would’ve stopped her she still be alive. He wanted to marry Dorothy and she had told him she was two weeks late on her period like a week before but she says I’m not gonna worry about it right now so she got in her car. Got there like around noon, Peter‘s houses in Belair. She was over in the Rancho section of West LA House on Clarkson Road. I think it’s 10881 Clarkson Rd., so weird looking shaped house she walked in the room and boom she was dead and then he turned. Mossberg is a pump shotgun. It goes in like little and it comes out like the size I can’t go into detail But to have sex with her dead body afterwards I’m disgusted it’s sick that’s how sick that Paul Snyder was. They begged her please Dorothy you’re so naïve don’t go over there have it done all through the lawyers don’t go over there don’t go over there don’t meet him don’t don’t delete all the other girls that were her friends are like please Dorothy please and I think she felt like she owed him because she was such a sweet Untouched, innocent woman you know she she didn’t think people could be that cruel I used to be naïve like that too but Paul was a sick you know he’s like it was the older I can’t have her no one‘s gonna have her so I’m gonna make sure she doesn’t make it anything and nobody else does so I wish if she never went over there she’d be alive today she would’ve married Peter they probably would have grown children right now Their kids would probably be in their late 30s early 40s I don’t know I just think it’s sad I just wish she never went there that day because she was giving him some cash. She had $1100 in an envelope and her person it was sitting there and the roommates came home And that early morning he said oh can you guys you know give me some space so they made them self scarce the guy that was a doctor that was in the upstairs part of the house. He was probably just finishing medical school, so saving money running a room upstairs, and the other girl was running a room up there as well Patty , I don’t know how do you say lawman Lauerman and it was Doctor 💖💛 Cushman Stevan Cushman I believe and they got back from whatever they were doing that day. Her purse was still on the stairs with money sitting in it her car was there and still 810 hours go by and still did they had the phone was ringing and ringing they could hear the phone ringing in the room and nobody picking it up so they finally went downstairs and open the door and she said , it looked like a chainsaw went off and flew all around the room. It was horrific she thought it was out of horror film. If you if you watched the report I just wish that she never would’ve gone there. That’s the one thing I think of would think of every day is police Dorothy why do you have to go there , she’ll be alive today. I’m sorry Dorothy the best was yet to come. Brian Adams was also from your fellow country Canada who we love Canadians here in the US sing a song about you he would’ve been a huge star. I’m sorry this happened to you beautiful lady you didn’t deserve that you were an angel . 🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏💕💕💕💕💕🌈🌈🌈🌈🌈🌈👑🏆

Any movie lover would have to admit that Peter was one heck of a talent, but he will always be tainted by his rather dubious personal life. He was a notorious womanizer for practically his entire career as film director, and it's a shame that his personal life, not his films, are what most people remember him for.
I'll never understand why this guy, and womanizers in general, act the way they do. I can't believe how many young men still seem to be perfectly ok having sex with women they barely know! Sounds like a guaranteed way to, sooner or later, be accused of rape/assault by a woman who is bitter for being taking advantage of, or at least THINKS she was. Imagine a young Peter working in today's Hollywood? *L* He has always lacked common sense when it comes to women and relationships.
