I don't hate all advertising. Only the vast majority of it. On very rare occasions, an advert (although unlikely to persuade me to part with cash) can be a blend of art and intriguing thought. But in a half-hour programme, Charlie Brooker does a superb job of dissection. Almost cathartic. Also, I do laugh uncomfortably at the Bill Hicks assertion that "anyone in advertising and marketing" should kill themselves because they represent all that is wrong with humanity... The "good" adverts? Fosters "I can see the pub from here!" makes me chuckle. (There are others). But "Wazzzzzz upppp" makes me hope for an extinction-level event. Another good advert is long overdue. 2024 maybe?
This was the pinnacle of British television.
...and perhaps British society.
Still is
I randomly stuck on Screenwipe, as I was working on a Pizza Cheese Pull animation, and this is the episode I got. Perfection
As someone with a passionate hatred of advertising, this was so pleasing to watch.

The closing sequence is the single best thing Charlie has ever done.
...not including Black Mirror
Holy shit, that tiny bit of FSOL in the first minute. The music choices for this show were sublime
Probably my favorite Screenwipe !
My only complaint about this show was the abrasive title theme. All the other abrasive stuff was great.
I enjoy the song so maybe I'm biased, but I do feel like it fits the theme of the show.
@@rjayyyy9623 I mean yeah, it sure does. It's just tough on my ear, personally.
@@nettils5555 I appear to be outvoted on this one 👍
That theme is courtesy of the great Jason Lytle and Grandaddy.
My complaint is it's went away
Maybe his best episode. Could we get some extra pixels please? X

"Enable"= limbo zone
Men don't buy Gillette now
That boycott lasted all of 5 minutes
