I can only express my gratitude to you for sharing these renditions of rag Jaunpuri by two brilliant and masterful exponents of The Jaipur Atrauli branch. This was a brilliant idea in itself. Thank you once again.

In Carnatic music also singers sing in Jaunpuri but at first the Raag sounds different but the 'Jeeva swara' (identifying passage of the Raag) is the same. A singer like Pandit Mallikarjuna Mansur and a Carnatic singer like Vidhushi Vishaka Hari can bring out the 'Jeeva Swara' of the Raag Jaunpuri. Tamil nationalist poet Subrahmanya Bharathi's composition on Krishna, 'Aasai Mukham Marandhu pocche' ( How can I forget the most loved face....of Krishna ) is often sung in Jaunpuri.
